Several Republican lawmakers in Minnesota released a statement officially calling on the state’s Democratic governor, Tim Walz, to resign in light of the unfolding fraud scandal that has spiraled during his tenure.

“Minnesotans have been watching the fraud crisis get worse and worse for years. It has gone on long enough,” Minnesota state Senators Bill Lieske and Nathan Wesenberg, along with state Reps. Marj Fogelman, Drew Roach and Mike Wiener, said in a Monday press release.

“This is not about politics or stunts, and we do not make a call like this lightly. The office of the governor deserves respect, and we have tried to give Gov. Walz time to act.”

The group cites Article 8, Section 6 of the Minnesota Constitution, which lists serious malfeasance in the performance of official duties, as the reason to recall executive and interior officers, but stopped short of calling for an official recall effort.

The lawmakers explained that “leadership means doing the right thing even when it is difficult, which is why we are calling on Gov. Walz to resign.”

“We are talking about billions of dollars in fraud that should have gone to vulnerable Minnesotans. The red flags were everywhere. Yet, year after year, the fraud kept growing, and year after year, nothing changed.”

HOW FEARS OF BEING LABELED ‘RACIST’ HELPED ‘PROVIDE COVER’ FOR THE EXPLODING MINNESOTA FRAUD SCANDAL

Earlier this month, federal prosecutors revealed that the fraud scandal in Minnesota, primarily found within the state’s Somali community, could cost taxpayers as much as $9 billion dollars.

The Monday call from Republicans for Walz to resign comes shortly after a viral video by journalist Nick Shirley, seen more than 100 million times on X, highlighting suspected fraudulent daycare locations prompted even more scrutiny on Walz.

Walz’s office pushed back on the criticism shortly after the video went viral.

“The governor has worked for years to crack down on fraud and ask the state legislature for more authority to take aggressive action,” a Walz spokesperson said. “He has strengthened oversight — including launching investigations into these specific facilities, one of which was already closed.”

The spokesperson added that Walz has “hired an outside firm to audit payments to high-risk programs, shut down the Housing Stabilization Services program entirely, announced a new statewide program integrity director, and supported criminal prosecutions.”

Calls for Walz to resign have increased in recent weeks, including from Trump’s Education Secretary Linda McMahon, Fox News Digital first reported earlier this month.

The lawmakers said in their statement that the fraud scandal is the “number one” issue they hear from their constituents, along with questions about why no one in power has been held accountable.

“What we are seeing from the governor is what nonfeasance looks like,” the lawmakers wrote. “When a governor fails to do what he is required to do, when he watches a crisis spiral out of control and does nothing to stop it, that is nonfeasance. The governor had a duty to oversee his administration and protect these programs. He failed. There needs to be consequences.

“For the good of the state, Gov. Walz should step aside. Minnesota needs accountability, a reset, and new leadership that can get us back on the right track.”

READ IT: Sealed transcript released in alleged Charlie Kirk shooting plot

A judge ruled that the transcript and audio recording of a closed-door hearing involving the accused assassin of Charlie Kirk can be released in redacted forms during a hearing on how much access the public should have as his capital case proceeds in Provo, Utah.

Fourth District Judge Tony Graf Jr. said the redactions amounted to 246 words in the 80-page transcript. The transcript was released on Monday afternoon, but Graf said it would take about two weeks to redact and release the audio recording.

The newly unsealed transcript shows that the Oct. 24 hearing opened with Tyler Robinson’s defense attorneys asking the court to allow him to keep one hand unshackled so he could take notes and write during the proceedings.

Graf allowed the hearing to move forward after consulting with court security. Portions of that exchange remain redacted, including a statement by a bailiff that is entirely blacked out, leaving unclear what specific security concerns were discussed behind closed doors.

CHARLIE KIRK’S ALLEGED ASSASSIN TYLER ROBINSON TRIES TO BOOT PROSECUTORS FROM CASE

The transcript also reflects that Robinson spoke only briefly in response to a question from the judge at the beginning of the hearing and otherwise remained silent as attorneys discussed courtroom security, media access and upcoming motions. Graf told the parties he intended to proceed cautiously, saying he preferred to take additional time rather than “be rash and miss the mark.”

During arguments over whether Robinson should appear shackled in court, Graf emphasized that security decisions ultimately rest with the court, not jail officials.

“This is not a jail. This is your honor’s courtroom,” Graf said, adding that “what security measures are necessary to ensure everybody’s safety, including Mr. Robinson’s, are your honor’s decisions, not the sheriff’s decisions.”

Graf also pushed back on arguments tying heightened security to the intense public attention surrounding the case. Referencing claims about unstable individuals and online conspiracy theories, he dismissed much of that concern as external noise.

“We’re all aware of that… I’ve received some wacky phone calls and e-mails, people telling me what they think happened here. It’s noise,” Graf said, stressing that those factors should not dictate how the case is handled inside the courtroom.

At another point, Graf underscored the broader stakes of the proceedings, acknowledging that Robinson’s prosecution stands apart from routine cases. “This case is unique. Whether we like it or not, this case is unique,” he said.

Robinson, 22, is accused of firing a single shot from a rooftop overlooking a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, striking the 31-year-old conservative speaker in the neck as he fielded questions from people in the audience in a courtyard at the heart of campus.

Robinson was not seen in court on Monday and spoke only in response to a question from the judge at the start of the hearing.

Graf addressed two issues — whether transcripts from the sealed hearing earlier this year should be made public and the extent of access the media and public should have to the case going forward.

A group of local and national media outlets, including Fox News, have filed a motion for limited intervention. Lawyers for the group asked Graf for formal recognition from the court, advance notice of attempts to seal future hearings or otherwise limit access to the courtroom, including by banning cameras, and to give the media time to oppose such restrictions.

Read the Oct. 24 transcript here:

He denied the motion, however, cited a prior order telling lawyers for both sides they must notify the media before attempting to have future hearings behind closed doors. The parties are not required to notify the media before potential future attempts to limit cameras or other electronic coverage of the courtroom.

Robinson has made only one in-person court appearance since the September slaying, and some of the case has unfolded behind closed doors, prompting the media group to demand greater transparency and the chance to oppose future secretive proceedings.

CHARLIE KIRK’S WIDOW FIGHTS TO KEEP NEWS CAMERAS IN COURTROOM FOR ACCUSED ASSASSIN’S TRIAL

Robinson’s defense had asked Graf to kick cameras out of the courtroom, but the judge ruled that an outright ban on cameras would be a “disproportionate” response to the defendant’s concerns and issued limitations on what can and can’t be shown.

Earlier this month, he promised to “be narrow” when weighing what parts of the sealed hearing should remain that way.

“[I would] rather do it right and take more time than to be rash and miss the mark,” he said.

Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA to bring conservative voices to college campuses, died from a catastrophic gunshot wound as Robinson allegedly fled into a nearby neighborhood, ditching the suspected murder weapon, a Mauser .30-06 rifle, along the way.

TRIAL FOR CHARLIE KIRK’S ALLEGED ASSASSIN WILL TEST NEW JUDGE IN ‘CAREER-DEFINING MOMENT,’ ATTORNEYS SAY

The victim was a married father of two.

The suspected killer returned home to southern Utah, about a four-hour drive, and allegedly confessed to his roommate and romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, and to his parents before turning himself in to Washington County deputies.

Twiggs is cooperating with investigators and has not been charged with a crime. Authorities also credited the parents with helping convince Robinson to surrender.

The accused assassin is due back in court on Jan. 16 in person for a longer hearing. Among the issues to be heard then is a motion from the defense demanding that one of the prosecutors who had a relative present when Kirk was killed to be recused from the case.

Robinson faces seven charges, including aggravated murder, which carries the potential death penalty, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction and witness tampering.

He has not yet entered a plea.

Zelenskyy says peace deal is close after Trump meeting but territory remains sticking point

The dispute over occupied territories in Ukraine continues to be a sticking point amid negotiations between Kyiv and Russia as President Donald Trump seeks to help bring an end to the war between the neighboring countries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Fox News’ Bret Baier that a peace deal with Moscow could be close following his Sunday meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

“Even with one question today, we’ve been very close,” Zelenskyy told Baier on “Special Report.” “I think we have a problem with one question: It’s about territories.”

PUTIN DERIDES EUROPEAN LEADERS AS HE INSISTS RUSSIA’S WAR GOALS IN UKRAINE WILL BE MET BY FORCE OR DIPLOMACY

Key issues about territory remain unresolved in talks that have taken place over months. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently said that the West must acknowledge the fact that Russia holds the initiative on the battlefield.

Zelenskyy has been reluctant to cede territory held by Russian forces since the war began in 2022 over to Moscow.

Zelenskyy has suggested that Ukraine might be open to withdrawing from the Ukrainian provinces of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, which Russia wants to annex, only if Ukrainian voters give their approval in a referendum.

TRUMP TOUTS ‘TREMENDOUS PROGRESS’ BUT SAYS HE’LL MEET PUTIN AND ZELENSKYY ‘ONLY WHEN’ PEACE DEAL IS FINAL

“I think the compromise, if we do a free economic zone that we have, and we have to move some kilometers back. It means that Russia has to make minor steps some kilometers back,” Zelenskyy said. “This free economic zone will have specific rules. Something like this referendum is the way how to accept it or not accept it.”

Putin doesn’t want peace, Zelenskyy said, despite the mounting death toll for Russian forces.

“I don’t trust Putin. He doesn’t want success for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said. “I believe he can say such words to President Trump… but it’s not true really.”

Following his meeting with Trump, Zelenskyy said they were 90% agreed on a draft 20-point plan, despite Moscow showing no signs of budging on its territorial demands.

The meeting came after Trump spoke with Putin over the phone where they both agreed that a deal must be reached to end Europe’s longest war in 80 years.

It also came a day after Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv a day earlier. Moscow also claimed that Putin’s home in the Novgorod region was the target of a Ukrainian drone attack overnight, which Ukraine denies.

Officials said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

The fire broke out at a home in Stanley around 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, which drew emergency responses from Gaston and Lincoln Counties, according to Queen City News.

Both Dennis and Mary Lou Hamlin were out of the house as emergency personnel rushed to the scene.

“We are thankful for the multiple agency response and ask that the public be in prayer for the affected family and our first responders in fire, GEMs and police,” the Lucia-Bend Fire Department said in a statement to the outlet.

Dennis Hamlin was listed as the manager of the real estate company that owned the house. Fire officials said the home was completely lost as it took around two hours for the blaze to be extinguished.

Three illegal immigrants from Eastern Europe have been arrested in Texas for their alleged involvement in a $14 million gift card fraud scheme across several states.

Kristians Petroviskis, Romunds Cubrevics and Nurmunds Ulevicus were arrested by the Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center (FCIC), Fox Austin reported.

The men, all Latvian citizens, told investigators that they stole gift cards from about 10 stores each day, seven days a week, since May, the news outlet reported.

They would then carefully remove the packaging.

”The card is removed, and then the material on the back that covers up the numbers to transfer anything or activate the card is then removed so that they can see it,” FCIC Director Adam Colby said. “The numbers that are on the card are then programmed into another program that the criminals are using, which will now monitor that card.”

Colby said the three suspects were in the United States illegally.

After the numbers on the cards are programmed into another, the cards were reassembled to appear new, without scratches, and placed back onto store shelves for someone to buy.

”As soon as it is activated and money placed onto that card, the criminals are now aware of it, but they now have the ability to transfer the money off of that card and onto another card where it is then cashed out or used to buy high-end merchandise,” said Colby.

At the time of their arrest, authorities allegedly found more than 400 gift cards on them, authorities said. The trio targeted stores in multiple cities, including Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

They are charged with first-degree fraudulent possession of gift cards. Fox News Digital has reached out to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The arrest occurred at a time when fraud involving illegal immigrants and immigrant communities has been put under a microscope. In Minneapolis, federal authorities on Monday launched a massive investigation into child day care fraud.

5 takeaways as Marjorie Taylor Greene goes scorched earth on Trump, Johnson

Outgoing Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene indicated to the New York Times Magazine that President Donald Trump, lacks “faith” and does not reciprocate loyalty.

She also said that she disapproves of “MAGA Mar-a-Lago sexualization,” and indicated that she expects the U.S. to engage in “more war” as the president seeks to maintain his grip on power.

Greene, a once ardent Trump supporter who had a dramatic falling out with the GOP juggernaut this year, is dishing out scathing criticism of the president she once lauded.

Here are some takeaways from her comments reported by the New York Times Magazine:

Greene says Trump ‘does not have any faith’

Earlier this year, during remarks at the memorial service for slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Trump said of Kirk, “He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent. And I don’t want the best for them.”

By contrast, Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk announced that she forgave the suspected killer.

“It just shows where his heart is. And that’s the difference, with her having a sincere Christian faith, and proves that he does not have any faith,” Greene opined, according to the Times.

Greene on ‘MAGA Mar-a-Lago sexualization’

Greene objected to what she referred to as “sexualization” among MAGA women.

“I never liked the MAGA Mar-a-Lago sexualization. I believe how women in leadership present themselves sends a message to younger women,” she noted, according to the Times.

“I have two daughters, and I’ve always been uncomfortable with how those women puff up their lips and enlarge their breasts. I’ve never spoken about it publicly, but I’ve been planning to,” she noted.

Greene says Trump lacks loyalty

The New York Times Magazine reported that Greene said regarding loyalty and Trump, that it is “a one-way street — and it ends like whenever it suits him.”

Last month, after President Donald Trump issued posts lambasting Greene on Truth Social, the congresswoman announced that she would resign from office, noting that her last day would be January 5.

BRIAN GLENN REVEALS ENGAGEMENT TO REP MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: ‘SHE SAID ’YES”

Greene suggests ‘more war’ on the horizon

Greene suggested that the U.S. is headed for “more war.”

“In my opinion,” Greene opined, according to the outlet, “we’re going to see more war. Because what do you do when you really lose power, when you become a lame duck? How do you cling to power? You go to war.”

Greene indicates House Speaker Mike Johnson is following orders from the White House

Greene suggested that House Speaker Mike Johnson is just taking orders from the White House.

“I want you to know that Johnson is not our speaker,” Greene asserted, according to the Times. “He is not our leader. And in the legislative branch — a totally separate body of government — he is literally 100 percent under direct orders from the White House. And many, many Republicans are so furious about that, but they’re cowards.”

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE SAYS ‘THE DAM IS BREAKING’ ON TRUMP’S GRIP OVER REPUBLICAN PARTY

White House responds

The White House pushed back against Greene’s comments about Johnson, asserting to Fox News Digital, “We have a very collaborative relationship with Speaker Johnson just like we do with Leader Thune, which is why we’ve had so much success this year.”

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle accused Greene of “petty bitterness.”

“President Trump remains the undisputed leader of the greatest and fastest growing political movement in American history — the MAGA movement. On the other hand, Congresswoman Greene is quitting on her constituents in the middle of her term and abandoning the consequential fight we’re in — we don’t have time for her petty bitterness,” Ingle noted in a statement.

Jaxson Dart’s father gives fiery response to ex-QB after criticism against Giants rookie

Jaxson Dart’s father will not hear any more slander about his son.

The New York Giants snapped their nine-game losing streak on Sunday after blowing out the Las Vegas Raiders, 34-10, where Dart had two rushing scores in a stellar day.

However, some Giants fans weren’t too happy about the victory, considering a loss would’ve guaranteed them the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Giants can still pick at No. 1, but they need the Raiders to beat the Kansas City Chiefs, while also losing their own matchup to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Either way, the Giants can’t pick lower than No. 2 overall next April, and one former New York quarterback believes Dart isn’t the “long-term answer” for the franchise despite showing signs of it in his rookie year.

Danny Kanell, who was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft and played six years in the league, was blunt with his assessment of the current franchise quarterback for his former team.

“I don’t know if Jaxson Dart is the long-term answer for the Giants. When I think of a first-round draft pick, I think it’s somebody who you should picture for 10 to 12 years is going to be your guy. I still haven’t seen the development as a passer. He’s still running the football, and they’re still designing runs for him. But I want to see him take that next step as a passer, and I just haven’t seen it yet,” Kanell said on CBS Sports.

GIANTS LOSE NO 1 OVERALL PICK TO RAIDERS AFTER BLOWOUT VICTORY SNAPS NINE-GAME LOSING STREAK

Brandon Dart, Jaxson’s father, caught wind of the clip on social media and didn’t waste any time responding.

He did so in a raunchy manner.

“Bro, Eat a Fat One!” he wrote on X in response to Kanell.

Dart has played 13 games for the Giants this season, 11 of them starts after ex-head coach Brian Daboll made the switch from Russell Wilson after three games to the Ole Miss product they traded back into the first round in April to acquire. Dart went on to win his first start against the Los Angeles Chargers, and after a woeful performance against the New Orleans Saints the following week, Dart was basically a household name after upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium.

It’s been tough sledding for Dart and the Giants since then, though, losing multiple games by blowing fourth-quarter leads, while the rookie also dealt with two missed games due to concussion protocols — a hot topic among many critiquing the way he consistently takes hits this year.

There’s no doubt that Dart needs to continue developing, but with the organization in flux, considering they need to hire a new head coach this offseason, who knows how Dart will be with a potentially new scheme and leadership in the building in coming years?

As such, some believe the Giants should trade Dart and start anew with a different quarterback hand-picked by the new head coach that lands in East Rutherford, New Jersey. But again, Dart has only 13 games under his belt and his stats are telling with what he’s able to do.

Dart has accounted for 22 total touchdowns, including nine rushing scores after his two-touchdown game in Las Vegas. He has five interceptions and four fumbles as well.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Those rushing touchdowns are also tied for second in the NFL among quarterbacks, with only Buffalo Bills MVP Josh Allen having more with 14 this season. Dart has also thrown for 2,042 yards with a 63.2% completion rate, and his 58.1 QBR ranks 15th in the NFL — better than the likes of Caleb Williams, Jared Goff, Trevor Lawrence and Jalen Hurts.

Time will tell what the Giants have planned for Dart, but he’s received glowing praise from teammates and coaches for how he has been in his first NFL season. Then again, the NFL is a business that can be cold, as we’ve seen many times over the years.

CBS legal correspondent criticizes media coverage of alleged Supreme Court ‘corruption’

CBS News’ chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford criticized the mainstream media’s coverage of the Supreme Court, calling it “dangerous” to claim the high court was “corrupt.”

Crawford joined CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday to discuss what the panel considered the most underreported stories of the year. While some panelists cited the blanket use of pardons and cuts to the federal workforce as examples, Crawford instead pointed to a narrative she considered overreported: alleged political corruption in the Supreme Court.

“You know, there is a narrative that the Supreme Court is corrupt,” Crawford said. “I mean, we saw that emerge in the wake of theDobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, and now we see it, that they’re in the tank for Trump. Not only is that narrative overreported, it is patently false, and it is dangerous for the institution, and the public’s faith and confidence in the rule of law.”

CBS NEWS REPORTER SAYS WSJ’S ‘COURAGEOUS’ 2024 REPORT ON BIDEN’S DECLINE SHOULD HAVE WON THE PULITZER

She continued, “This is a conservative Supreme Court. It has been a conservative Supreme Court for 20 years. People can disagree and do disagree with their opinions, but it’s profoundly wrong to call it or say ‘corruption’ where there, in fact, is none.”

Crawford argued that the most “underreported” story of the year was the lack of understanding of the judicial branch’s role in government and its consistent function over the last 20 years.

AMY CONEY BARRETT CALLS ROE V WADE ‘FREE-FLOATING’ DECISION THAT JUDGES ‘READ INTO’ CONSTITUTION

“They are nine justices. They don’t necessarily see the Constitution the same way by any means, or how to interpret federal law,” Crawford said. “They’re in a struggle over the proper way to interpret the constitution, but that is as it should be. And I think as we approach our 250th anniversary of this country, it’s important to think about the court and the rule of law as the justices are doing, especially if we hope to keep democracy intact.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the Supreme Court for comment.

JAMES CARVILLE URGES DEMOCRATS TO CONSIDER EXPANDING SUPREME COURT IF THEY REGAIN POWER

In a similar segment on “Face the Nation” in 2024, Crawford had criticized Senate Democrats for launching what she described as a “calculated effort” to undermine the Supreme Court.

“It really started and took off in the wake of the Dobbs decision, the court’s ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade,” Crawford said. “The outrage was so extreme that you saw, I think, a quite calculated effort to undermine legitimacy of the Supreme Court by Democrats, Senate Democrats. For example, hearings, stories about scandals, some of which were pretty overblown, to say the least. So that has an impact on public opinion.”

She also criticized mainstream media for failing to report on then-President Joe Biden’s “obvious cognitive decline,” calling it the most underreported story of that year.

Southern community quickly becoming housing hotspot: ‘Plenty of options’

U.S. homebuyers have been flocking to a fast-growing city situated within South Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, according to data from the Census Bureau.

The population in Greenville, which has become a regional business and manufacturing hub, increased from about 70,720 at the 2020 Census to an estimated 74,371 in 2024, which is roughly a 4.1% rise in four years, according to Census Bureau estimates.

This uptick comes despite the fact that there has been little movement in the housing market due to high borrowing costs and limited inventory in many regions. Also, because of the so-called “lock-in” effect, which refers to homeowners staying put because their existing mortgage rates are significantly lower than current market rates.

But, according to the Greenville Area Development Corporation, the area has become home to major manufacturing, technology and aerospace employers over the years, making it more attractive to potential homeowners and businesses.

For instance, BMW has automotive operations in nearby Spartanburg County. Michelin North America’s headquarters are in Greenville along with a major hub for Lockheed Martin’s aviation operations. GE Aerospace facilities are also located in the area, boosting the economic draw.

Given the strong demand for homes in Greenville, listing prices rose by 5.4% year-over-year in November, according to Berner.

Still, even with this uptick and a median price of $369,000, Berner noted that “the Greenville metro area remains very approachable for buyers on a budget.” He also noted that the number of homes for sale is up 22.4% year over year.
