A Somali-run daycare in Minneapolis was broken into and vandalized, with “important documentation,” including records related to employees and children at the daycare, being reported missing.

The break-in occurred as a national spotlight continues to shine on Minneapolis and daycare facilities run by Somali immigrants in the wake of massive fraud allegations.

Nasrulah Mohamed, manager of Nokomis Day Care Center, told reporters Tuesday that the facility was broken into overnight Wednesday. He believes the incident occurred between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

SOMALI MINNESOTANS BEING ‘SCAPEGOATED’ IN FRAUD INVESTIGATION, NYT WRITER CLAIMS

A door to the building was damaged, he said. The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed the break-in to Fox News Digital.

A video taken by Fox Minneapolis shows portions of a wall gutted. The building appeared to have a security camera on its exterior. It wasn’t clear if the cameras recorded footage of what happened.

In addition to vandalism, the suspect or suspects took documents related to employees and children at the daycare, Mohamed said.

He cited a viral video posted online by independent journalist Nick Shirley, who visited nearly a dozen daycare facilities while seeking evidence of fraud, for the daycare being targeted.

WALZ SLAMMED IN WAKE OF VIRAL VIDEO THAT RAISES DAYCARE FUNDING QUESTIONS: ‘NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE’

The 42-minute video, posted online last week, garnered millions of views and quickly went viral, drawing the attention of President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other administration officials.

“This is devastating news, and we don’t know why this is targeting our Somali community, as one video made by a specific individual made this all happen,” Mohamed said.

He claimed the daycare has received “hateful” and “threatening” messages over the past several days.

“This is frightening and exhausting,” he said.

Nokomis Daycare Center was operating in good standing and is licensed to care for up to 71 children, including infants, toddlers and preschool-age children, according to the Minnesota Department of Human Services (MDHS) website.

The center had two violations in October for menus that failed to comply with the nutritional requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and missing documentation to show that a teacher met qualifications. Both violations were corrected, the MDHS said.

The day care center was not one of the facilities featured in Shirley’s video.

The video surfaced amid widespread fraud allegations, up to $1 billion, in Minnesota. Federal prosecutors have already indicted and charged dozens of people in connection with the alleged fraudulent activity.

The Trump administration has also begun investigating suspected fraud in the city. On Tuesday, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said it was freezing child care payments to Minnesota unless the state can provide proof that the payments are for legitimate purposes.

In 2025, Minnesota received $185 million for such payments, HHS said.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body as Olmos on Wednesday, determining the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and ruling the manner of death a suicide, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office previously said Olmos had a history of suicidal ideation and depression, noting there were no signs of foul play.

FBI officials in Los Angeles said $40 million in motorcycles believed to be owned by former Canadian Olympic snowboarder and FBI fugitive Ryan Wedding were seized by Mexican authorities in a number of busts in December.

Officials revealed the seizures in a post on social media Wednesday, more than a month after Wedding was hit with additional charges, and raised the reward for his capture to $15 million.

“This month, Mexican authorities executed multiple search warrants and seized a large number of motorcycles with an estimated value of approximately $40 million USD that are believed to be owned by FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Ryan James Wedding,” the announcement said.

“Wedding is wanted for allegedly running and participating in a transnational drug trafficking operation and for his alleged involvement in orchestrating multiple murders in furtherance of drug crimes. The U.S. is offering a reward of up to $15 million for information leading to his arrest and/or conviction.”

Wedding, 44, and 14 other alleged associates were accused of orchestrating the January 2025 murder of a witness who was shot and killed at a restaurant in Colombia. Officials said Wedding placed a bounty on the victim’s head thinking the victim’s death would lead to the dismissal of charges against him and the drug-trafficking ring he allegedly heads.

The FBI has described Wedding as an “extremely violent criminal believed to be responsible for the murder of numerous people abroad.”

“You do not get to be a drug kingpin and evade the law,” FBI Director Kash Patel said during a news conference last month. “Make no mistake about it. Ryan Wedding is a modern-day iteration of Pablo Escobar. He’s a modern-day iteration of ‘El Chapo’ Guzman. This Justice Department and this FBI will work with our Canadian counterparts and government officials across the world to bring him to justice.”

Wedding is allegedly responsible for trafficking tons of cocaine through Colombia and Mexico to be distributed in the U.S. and Canada and uses cryptocurrency to hide his wealth. The FBI has said that Wedding has ordered dozens of murders in North America and Latin America.

The Washington Monument will transform on New Year’s Eve into the “world’s tallest birthday candle in honor of our Nation’s 250th birthday,” according to the national Freedom 250 organization.

The monument will be illuminated with projections depicting America’s history, focusing on the American founding and its future, starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time Wednesday. Likewise, the monument will turn into a 250-foot birthday candle as part of a countdown to 2026.

“The illumination of the Washington Monument marks the beginning of a momentous year for our nation — 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence,” Keith Krach, CEO of Freedom 250, said in a press release. “We invite every American — and every friend of America — to join this historic celebration of the triumph of the American spirit.”

Freedom 250 is a national, nonpartisan organization President Donald Trump created dedicated to spearheading events to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in 2026, coordinating with the White House and other federal agencies to plan events to commemorate the anniversary.

UFC WHITE HOUSE PLANS REVEALED, INCLUDING WEIGH-INS AT LINCOLN MEMORIAL: REPORT

The viewing is free and open to the public and will continue through Monday with different projections displayed on the monument each night. Projections will start Wednesday for New Year’s Eve and will continue until just after midnight and will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on subsequent evenings.

Narrated videos that will appear on the monument will focus on discovery, the American Revolution and independence, Western expansion, the Industrial Revolution and the modern times and future for the U.S.

The event is designed to serve as the “first signature moment” in a series of events to celebrate the anniversary and will feature a drone and fireworks show on New Year’s Eve, according to Freedom 250. Testing for the event began earlier in December, with previews of the projections visible on the monument.

Other events Freedom 250 will hold to remember America’s birthday include a Great American State Fair in June and a parade of ships from more than 30 countries in New York Harbor for the Fourth of July.

America250, a nonpartisan commission that Congress created in 2016 to prepare for America’s 250th birthday, also announced that it is commemorating the special year in New York on New Year’s Eve.

The group said that, after midnight Eastern Standard Time, the New York City Times Square Ball will be lit up in red, white and blue, and 2,000 pounds of red, white and blue confetti will be released.

Son blasts ‘monsters’ Jackman and Hudson for ‘lies’ in Neil Diamond tribute movie

Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson’s latest film has upset those close to its real-life subject.

In their new film, “Song Sung Blue,” Hudson and Jackman portray the real-life couple Claire “Thunder” and Mike “Lightning” Sardina, who together made up the Neil Diamond tribute band, “Lightning & Thunder.”

During a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Mike’s children, Michael Sardina Jr. and Angelina, expressed their many issues with the film, including only getting paid $30,000 to consult on the film and Mike Jr.’s assertion that he was “purposely cut out of the film.”

“Every interview that those monsters have been on on national television don’t even mention my existence at all, even though I was the most prevalent force in my father’s life, even when I wasn’t in Wisconsin, because I’m his only son,” he said of Jackman and Hudson.

KATE HUDSON SAYS HER 14-YEAR-OLD SON’S FRIENDS LOVE COMING OVER AND HANGING OUT WITH HER

While he wasn’t included in the film, he participated in the 2008 documentary, “Lighting & Thunder,” which told the story of his dad’s legacy. The documentary was released two years after his father’s death in July 2006 after he suffered a brain bleed following a fall.

Text messages obtained by the Daily Mail between Mike Jr.’s sister, Angelina, and the film’s producer, John Fox, confirm the two were paid $30,000 to consult and also showed sympathy on Fox’s part, as he told Angelina, “I totally understand, and I’m sorry, know it’s not the most ideal situation,” regarding their lack of input.

Angelina is included in the movie, portrayed by King Princess, with the Daily Mail reporting she signed a contract in which she authorized the movie to tell a fictionalized version of her story but did not ensure she would be in contact with anyone from the cast, including King Princess.

The two also had issues with the way their father was portrayed. Mike Jr. said if anyone had spoken to them about their father, they would have known that he “would speak in a very, very slow kind of way.”

“[My father] would thank God every single show, and then he would go on a very short testimony about his journey through recovery,” he recalled. “And if anybody felt like they were alone, or maybe they needed help, or they needed prayer, [he would tell them], “‘You come up here after the show, and I will sit here. And I’ll talk to you’.”

In addition to having no input in the story, Mike Jr. and Angelina say the movie didn’t do a good job of showing the tension that existed in their home as they were growing up, with Angelina saying, “The only thing that was true is the love between my dad and Claire.”

“I mean, yes, it’s a great story,” she said. “It’s a beautiful story, but that’s not how it went down. And I guess that’s what’s upsetting because it’s a lie.”

While Mike Jr. and Angelina are upset with the end product, their stepmother Claire, who married Mike Sr. at the Wisconsin State Fair in 1994, and her two kids from a prior marriage — son Dayna and daughter Rachel — have been supportive.

The three happily posed with Jackman and Hudson at the New York City premiere in early December, and Carol and Rachel joined Jackman on stage to sing on separate occasions.

Mike Jr. and Angelina were also invited to the premiere, but, according to Mike Jr., they were told to “keep away from any of the stars and reporters.”

“I want the true story out there, and I want it used with truth, with dignity, and I want retribution,” Mike Jr. said. “I want retribution from NBCUniversal [and other parties involved], not just for me, for my father, for me, and for my little sister — my father’s true descendants — because they screwed us over.

“Everybody thinks it’s such a wonderful film, it’s so touching,” he added. “It’s all lies. And it steals all the hard work that my father put in his entire life so that Claire, Rachel and Dayna can soak up a massive paycheck.”

President Donald Trump revealed Wednesday how soon an Arc de Triomphe-style monument will be constructed in the nation’s capital to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

Trump on Wednesday said the construction of the monument, nicknamed the “Arc de Trump,” will begin “sometime in the next two months,” according to a report from Politico.

“It hasn’t started yet. It starts sometime in the next two months. It’ll be great. Everyone loves it,” Trump reportedly told the outlet during a phone call from Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla. “They love the ballroom too. But they love the Triumphal Arch.”

The newest monument, which resembles Paris’ historic Arc de Triomphe, will be bankrolled privately, with funds left over from the new White House ballroom project, Fox News Digital previously reported.

The exact location of the new landmark has not yet been confirmed, though the report notes it may be situated near the Lincoln Monument.

Details about the amount of time it will take to build, the cost of construction, the funding amount and who is heading the project have not yet been released by the White House.

Trump signed Public Law 116-217 in December 2020 authorizing the Women’s Suffrage National Monument to be built on federal land in Washington, D.C., leading to the subsequent signing of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Location Act during former President Joe Biden’s final week in office.

The Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation (WSNMF) announced Dec. 4 it received final and unanimous approval from the National Capital Planning Commission for a permanent two and a half acre site on the National Mall in Constitution Gardens, according to the foundation’s website.

Foundation leaders noted the women’s suffrage monument went through a “multi-step, rigorous review process,” including gaining approval from the National Capital Memorial Advisory Commission and the Commission of Fine Arts.

The foundation also completed a public comment period with the National Park Service as part of the public scoping process, according to its website.

It is unclear if Trump’s newest proposed monument received similar approval.

The Women’s Suffrage National Monument will be located at the intersection of 19th St. and Constitution Avenue NW, and the next project phase will focus on creative development and design.

“The enthusiasm behind this project has been inspiring,” WSNMF President and CEO Anna Laymon wrote in a Dec. 4 statement announcing final approval. “We are so grateful for the dedicated support from so many who made this possible, including President Trump; President Biden; our honorary chairs Mrs. Melania Trump, Dr. Jill Biden, Mrs. Michelle Obama, Mrs. Laura Bush, and Secretary Hillary Clinton; our bipartisan and bicameral Congressional sponsors, Senator Blackburn, Senator Baldwin, Congresswoman Lesko, Congressman Neguse and their dedicated staffs; our incredible Board of Directors; and all our partners and supporters.”

The most recent major monument built on the National Mall was the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, which was completed in 2011.

San Francisco creates path for $5 million payouts to Black residents

The mayor of San Francisco signed an ordinance that creates a “Reparations Fund” that could one day grant each of the city’s eligible Black residents up to $5 million in reparations for alleged historic discrimination and displacement.

The ordinance, which was passed by the Board of Supervisors earlier this month, was signed by Democrat Mayor Daniel Lurie two days before Christmas. It establishes the legal framework for the fund but does not allocate funds or guarantee payments. The fund can be financed with private donations, foundations and other non-city sources.

Any taxpayer-funded reparations payouts would require separate legislation, an identified funding source and mayoral approval. Lurie told Fox News Digital that no taxpayer money would be paid into the potential pot, given the city’s $1 billion budget deficit.

“I was elected to drive San Francisco’s recovery, and that’s what I’m focused on every day,” Lurie said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “We are not allocating money to this fund — with a historic $1 billion budget deficit, we are going to spend our money on making the city safer and cleaner.”

“The Reparations Plan outlines a variety of methods to provide restitution, compensation and rehabilitation to individuals who are Black and/or descendants of a chattel enslaved person and have experienced a proven harm in San Francisco,” the ordinance reads, in part.

The ordinance specifically cites a 2023 policy report and recommendation document produced by the San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee (AARAC), a city-appointed advisory committee.

The report, which is nonbinding, studied harms to Black residents and proposed remedies, including a recommendation of a $5 million payment. Around 46,000 Black residents live in San Francisco, according to U.S. Census data.

It argued that Black San Franciscans are victims of decades of city-driven “residential displacement” and “racial discrimination,” particularly during the urban renewal era — the period from the mid-1940s through the 1970s.

“The City and County of San Francisco and its agencies should issue a formal apology for past harms and commit to making substantial ongoing, systemic and programmatic investments in Black communities to address historical harms,” the report states in its executive summary.

It proposed that the city “[p]rovide a one-time, lump sum payment of $5 million to each eligible person.”

The report also recommended a guaranteed annual income tied to area median income and the creation of new city agencies, including an Office of Reparations, to administer programs. It also called for major housing interventions, such as rental assistance, homeownership support and city-backed funds to purchase property along Black business corridors, as well as multi-million-dollar investments in Black-owned businesses.

Venezuela arrests more Americans as Trump ramps up pressure on Maduro: report

The number of American citizens arrested and held in Venezuela has risen in recent months, according to a new report.

Several Americans have been detained by Venezuelan security forces as the Trump administration stepped up efforts to isolate President Nicolás Maduro, including sanctions enforcement and an expanded military presence in the Caribbean, The New York Times reported.

A U.S. official familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the outlet that while some detainees face what Venezuelan authorities describe as legitimate criminal charges, Washington is considering designating at least two Americans as “wrongfully detained.”

.”TRUMP WARNS US MAY LAUNCH LAND OPERATIONS INSIDE VENEZUELA ‘VERY SOON,’ SAYS REGIME SENT ‘KILLERS’ TO AMERICA

This can speed up diplomatic efforts to secure their release.

Those arrested are said to include three Venezuelan-American dual nationals and two U.S. citizens with no known ties to Venezuela, the official told the outlet.

Maduro’s government has long been accused by U.S. officials and critics of using detained foreign nationals as leverage in negotiations with the U.S.

President Trump has made the release of Americans held overseas a priority during both of his presidencies. During his first term, he followed a campaign of maximum pressure against Maduro.

On his return to office in January, Trump also sent envoy Richard Grenell to Caracas to push for a prisoner agreement.

MADURO ERUPTS AS TRUMP VOWS MASSIVE BLOCKADE AROUND VENEZUELA — DECRIES ‘WARMONGERING THREATS’

Grenell met Maduro in person and was tasked with securing the return of detained Americans, announcing he was bringing home six who had been imprisoned, per Reuters.

In May, Venezuela also released a U.S. Air Force veteran who had been detained for roughly six months.

Joseph St Clair, who served in Afghanistan, had traveled to South America for treatment for PTSD.

In July, as reported by Fox News Digital, 10 more Americans and U.S. permanent residents were released after a prisoner swap that saw more than 250 Venezuelans held in El Salvador also returned home. The U.S. State Department confirmed that release July 18, 2025.

“Our commitment to the American people is clear: We will safeguard the well-being of U.S. nationals both at home and abroad and not rest until all Americans being held hostage or unjustly detained around the world are brought home,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said at the time.

.CAN MADURO SURVIVE AS TRUMP’S OIL PRESSURE CAMPAIGN HITS HIS REGIME’S WEAK SPOT?

That diplomatic push led to talks between U.S. and Venezuelan officials and resulted in the release of at least 16 American citizens and permanent residents by mid-2025.

Those negotiations were later suspended as the administration shifted toward broader pressure.

The U.S. began expanding sanctions enforcement, redeploying naval assets to the Caribbean and increasing operations targeting vessels allegedly linked to drug-trafficking networks tied to Maduro’s regime.

SECOND TANKER SEIZED NEAR VENEZUELA AS US ENFORCES OIL BLOCKADE

The New York Times reported Wednesday that among those Americans currently reported missing is James Luckey-Lange, 28, of Staten Island, New York, who went missing after crossing Venezuela’s southern border in early December.

Luckey-Lange is the son of musician Diane Luckey, known as Q Lazzarus.

Another former detainee, Renzo Huamanchumo Castillo, a Peruvian-American, told the outlet he was arrested last year and accused of terrorism and plotting to kill Maduro.

“We realized afterward, I was just a token,” he said. He was released in the July prisoner swap after months of harsh detention.

At least two others with U.S. ties remain imprisoned, according to their families: Aidel Suarez, a U.S. permanent resident born in Cuba, and Jonathan Torres Duque, a Venezuelan-American, according to reporting by The New York Times.

The exact number of newly detained Americans has not been publicly disclosed by U.S. officials.
