ICE nabs over 650 illegals in sweeping operation with cooperation from local authorities

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested more than 650 illegal aliens across West Virginia during a two-week statewide operation conducted in coordination with local law enforcement agencies and without protests, federal officials announced.

ICE said in a press release Sunday that the operation ran from Jan. 5 to Jan. 19 and involved 14 federal, state and local law enforcement partners.

ICE deployed teams to Charleston, Martinsburg, Beckley, Moorefield, Morgantown and Huntington as part of the operation.

Law enforcement officials arrested more than 650 illegal aliens, including individuals ICE said pose threats to public safety and national security, as well as others who entered the country illegally.

“This operation demonstrates how strong partnerships between ICE and West Virginia law enforcement agencies enhance public safety and the integrity of our immigration system,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Michael Rose said. “By training and supporting our… partners across the state, we’ve expanded local capacity to identify, arrest and process illegal aliens while ensuring these authorities are exercised professionally and consistent with the law.”

One individual arrested as part of Operation ICE Wall on Jan. 8 was Sagar Singh, a citizen of India. The operation targeted illegal aliens operating commercial vehicles, and Singh was pulled over for failing to stop at a mandatory brake check station.

During the stop, Singh was cited for multiple vehicle infractions, including operating an unsafe commercial vehicle. According to ICE, Singh had previously been ordered removed from the U.S.

Singh was one of more than 25 aliens arrested under Operation ICE Wall during the two-week enforcement surge.

Another illegal alien arrested during the operation was Ling Yan, a citizen of China also known as Yang Ning, who was previously convicted of two counts of endangering the welfare of children in Ravenna, Ohio.

ICE also arrested a convicted child sex abuser, an individual with drug possession convictions and numerous other offenders during the operation.

One of the agencies that worked with ICE was the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, whose top official praised the results of the two-week operation.

“The Sheriff’s Office was impressed with the professionalism and work ethic of the agents and how well they interacted with the citizens and local law enforcement officers,” Jefferson County Sheriff Tom Hansen said. “Working with such a high-caliber group of agents who were assigned to Jefferson County made the decision to support the initiative worthwhile.”

Trump-hating Hollywood stunned as Melania documentary rakes in millions

“Melania,” the documentary detailing the 20 days in the first lady’s life before President Donald Trump’s second term in office, shocked the Hollywood press with its surprise opening weekend.

Reports indicated that “Melania” posted the best opening weekend for a documentary in over a decade, in stark contrast to its low critic score.

“No one saw that coming, with many suggesting ‘Melania’ was a bomb before it even opened based on empty, or nearly empty, seat maps in cinemas across the country,” The Hollywood Reporter reported Saturday.

Other entertainment outlets also expressed surprise at the box office performance of the “Melania” documentary.

“‘Melania: Twenty Days to History’is proving the haters and losers wrong. The Brett Ratner-directed documentary chronicling three weeks in the life of the incoming first lady has over-performed expectations,” Rolling Stone magazine reported on Sunday.

Variety reported that the film was “eclipsing box office expectations,” while Deadline claimed “Melania” had “crushed it exactly where she was suppose to” in red areas despite concerns about a “great deal of juicing” at the box office.

The New York Times called the numbers a “face-saving result for the first lady” after initial predictions placed the film at only $5 million, though it contextualized the sizeable opening.

“On Saturday, analysts projected roughly $8 million in domestic ticket sales for the nearly two-hour film. The actual amount, $7 million, suggests that opening day was front loaded with Mrs. Trump’s fans,” the New York Times wrote.

Fox News Digital reached out to Amazon MGM Studios for a comment.

Reports also found that Amazon MGM Studios spent $40 million on the documentary with another $35 million spent on marketing. However, the studio reportedly intends to recoup these costs through licensing deals as well as upcoming plans to add the film to its Prime Video streaming service.

“We’re very encouraged by the strong start and positive audience response, with early box office for ‘Melania’ exceeding our expectations,” Amazon MGM’s head of domestic theatrical distribution, Kevin Wilson said in a statement to Variety. “This momentum is an important first step in what we see as a long-tail lifecycle for both the film and the forthcoming docu-series, extending well beyond the theatrical window and into what we believe will be a significant run for both on our service. We are confident in the long-term value this rollout will deliver to customers both in theaters, and for years to come on Prime Video.”

The “Melania” documentary was also widely panned by entertainment critics as a form of “propaganda” for the Trump administration. By contrast, verified audience users on the Rotten Tomatoes website largely praised the film, giving it a 99% approval rating.

Catherine O’Hara was diagnosed with a rare medical condition before her death. 

During a Virtual Happy Hour with Kathryn Hall in 2020, O’Hara — who died on Jan. 30 at age 71 — opened up about her dextrocardia situs inversus diagnosis and explained how she discovered the condition much later in life.

Dextrocardia is a rare congenital (present at birth) heart defect in which the heart is positioned on the right side of the chest instead of its normal position on the left side. Dextrocardia on its own does not usually cause problems, but it tends to occur with other conditions that can have serious effects on the heart, lungs and other vital organs, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. The condition can also cause other organs to be on the opposite side of the body. 

It is unknown if dextrocardia situs inversus contributed to O’Hara’s death.

“I’m a freak, yeah!” said O’Hara, who learned about her diagnosis more than 20 years ago while visiting the doctor with her husband Bo Welch.

“I love Western medicine, I just don’t want to be a part of it. But I had to get a TB test when our youngest was in co-op nursery school and I went to my husband’s doctor, and he said let’s do some baseline tests, and one of them was an EKG,” she explained.

“He calls us into his office and says, ‘You’re the first one I’ve met!'” O’Hara said of the doctor revealing her diagnosis. “I don’t even know the name, because I don’t want to know the name. Something cardio-inversus. And then dextrocardia and something-inversus. People are going to think I’m so ignorant not to know this, but I kind of don’t want to know. Because I didn’t know before that.”

“I’m one of seven kids,” O’Hara continued. “My parents were already gone, had left the world by that time. Never heard anything about this with anyone else. We’re driving home, and I think, ‘I wonder about my other siblings, if they know where their hearts are.'”

“When the doctor told us that my heart was on the right side and my organs were flipped, my husband immediately said, ‘No, her head’s on backwards,'” she recalled.

O’Hara died after a “brief illness.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department also confirmed to Fox News Digital that first responders were dispatched to O’Hara’s Brentwood home at approximately 5 a.m. on Friday. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was listed in serious condition. The beloved actress was pronounced dead several hours later.

Costco quietly dropped a new, exclusive Nike collaboration sneaker on Friday in a surprising move that sent both customers and the resale market into a frenzy.  

The Nike SB Dunk Low x Kirkland Signature Exclusive was released in select locations, Nike told FOX Business on Sunday. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the item was dropped in New York, Oregon, California and Washington for $134.99.

In just three days, the resale markup of the product skyrocketed to approximately 200% or more, with prices ranging from roughly $400 to $1,000 on third-party sites including StockX, eBay and GOAT.  

The sneakers appear to be inspired by Kirkland’s signature sweatshirts, which are known for featuring the retailer’s in-house branding in black, gray and white selections.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., of holding America “hostage” for vowing to oppose President Donald Trump’s pick to chair the Federal Reserve until the administration ends its probe of current Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

Powell has led the Fed since Trump nominated him to the post in 2017. The DOJ is investigating whether Powell knowingly misled lawmakers about the cost and timeline of a $2.5 billion renovation of the Fed’s headquarters.

Although the investigation formally has nothing to do with Powell’s responsibilities as Fed chair, a bipartisan group of lawmakers has interpreted the probe as a way for Trump to put pressure on Powell to cut interest rates.

Trump has repeatedly called for lower rates, but Powell has resisted, citing the need for the agency to protect its independence.

The Fed maintains U.S. financial stability by governing the money supply and credit conditions to keep inflation under control and maximize employment — a mission Powell has said needs to be separate from the political goals of any given administration.

Trump threatens legal action over claims in newly released Epstein-related files

President Donald Trump has threatened legal action against author Michael Wolff and the estate of Jeffrey Epstein, insisting a newly released trove of Epstein-related files clears him of wrongdoing.

Trump was aboard Air Force One during a flight to Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday when he responded to a reporter’s question about the more than 3 million Epstein-related records and personal emails that the Justice Department released Friday.

“It looked like this guy, Wolff, was a writer, was conspiring with Epstein to do harm to me,” Trump said. “I didn’t see it myself, but I was told by some very important people that not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what people were hoping, you know, the radical left, that Wolff, who’s a third-rate writer, was conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to hurt me, politically or otherwise, and that came through loud and clear.”

Trump said there was a high likelihood that he would sue Wolff and the Epstein estate “because he was conspiring with Wolff to do harm to me politically. That’s not a friend.”

Rare bacterial threat leaves two dead as health officials warn of spreading risk

Chicago health officials are warning residents to be alert for symptoms of meningococcal disease after several recent infections were reported in adults across the city.

Seven cases of Neisseria meningitidis infections have been identified since mid-January, according to the Chicago Department of Public Health.

Two people have died as a result of the infection, the department said.

Health officials have traced close contacts for all confirmed cases and provided preventive antibiotics to those who may have been exposed.

Meningococcal disease is caused by Neisseria meningitidis, a type of bacteria that can infect the bloodstream or the lining of the brain and spinal cord, according to Cleveland Clinic.

Transmission occurs through saliva and mucus during close or prolonged contact, such as sharing drinks, kissing, or being exposed to coughs and sneezes.

While cases remain relatively rare, meningococcal disease continues to pose a serious public health risk nationwide. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 503 confirmed and probable cases in the U.S. in 2024, based on preliminary data.

Symptoms of meningococcal disease can include fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, sensitivity to light, a stiff neck, and a skin rash that may appear as dark spots or bruising, per Cleveland Clinic.

Other signs may include confusion, irritability, difficulty walking, joint or muscle pain, and loss of appetite.

“Chicago sees up to 10 to 15 meningococcal infections each year, typically concentrated around the winter months,” the department noted.

The disease most often affects seniors as well as adolescents and young adults, Chicago health officials said.

To reduce risk, state guidelines recommend getting the meningococcal vaccine beginning at ages 11 or 12, with a booster dose at 16.

Meningococcal disease is treated with antibiotics, and doctors often begin immediate treatment if the illness is suspected because it can progress rapidly, Cleveland Clinic stated.
