Virginia’s ICE ban blows up after sex offender with sodomy charges gets busted

The Washington, D.C., office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the arrest of an illegal immigrant and Iranian national who had a criminal history that included multiple charges relating to sodomy.

The arrest comes weeks after Gov. Abigail Spanberger reversed by executive order her predecessor Glenn Youngkin’s 287(g) agreement with DHS that allowed the commonwealth’s law enforcement agencies and federal immigration authorities to share resources and information to help apprehend illegal immigrants and criminals.

Virginia State Sen. Saddam Salim, D-Dunn Loring, also crafted a bill to bar Virginia law enforcement agencies from cooperating with ICE in most instances. The Democratic-controlled chamber passed the measure 21-19.

Shayan Kahhal, whose sex offender registry information provided a residential address near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, was captured by ICE this week, according to an alert from the agency.

Kahhal has a criminal history that includes charges of strong-armed rape, strong-armed sodomy of a woman, strong-arm sodomy of a boy and strong-arm sodomy of a girl.

The Virginia State Police’s sex offender page lists a rape and two forcible sodomy convictions from 2011.

Salim’s bill prohibits state and local law enforcement agencies from “maintaining, renewing, or entering into any federal immigration law-enforcement agreement unless such agreement contains certain conditions.

“The bill also prohibits any person acting in his capacity as a law-enforcement officer to assist or cooperate with or to allow or authorize any resources to assist or cooperate with or to otherwise facilitate any operation executed in whole or in part by federal authorities for the purpose of enforcing federal immigration law,” according to the text from Salim.

Salim recently won an upset victory against longtime incumbent Chap Petersen after the fellow Democrat voiced support for keeping the Washington Redskins’ name and Confederate monuments intact.

Fox News Digital reached out to Salim, who is a legal immigrant from Bangladesh, for comment.

The arrest and the bill come on the heels of Spanberger’s order, which she has defended by saying that “Virginians deserve to have their law enforcement resources devoted to the safety and security of their communities, not federal civil immigration enforcement.”

The 287(g) reversal “restores clarity and accountability to the role of state and local law enforcement and ensures their focus remains on public safety, justice, and community trust,” according to Lt. Gov. Ghazala Hashmi, who backed Spanberger’s move.

Spanberger has said that Virginia law enforcement will continue honoring valid judicial warrants, promising to abide by Virginia law in those matters.

CNN anchor upset as network updates policy after Biden book backlash

CNN anchor Jake Tapper is reportedly “very unhappy” with his network’s new policy on book promotion.

Breaker Media reported Tuesday that CNN had updated its standards guide after the network leaned in heavily on Tapper’s “Original Sin,” the Joe Biden book co-authored by Axios reporter and CNN political analyst Alex Thompson.

“CNN’s editorial platforms are meant to distribute and showcase CNN’s journalism that our audience comes to CNN for because they know content we present goes through our editorial review,” the new policy states, according to Breaker Media. “There should be no use of websites, QR codes, or links to drive personal sales… We should not mix news and advertising, even when what is being advertised is work by a leading CNN journalist.”

One prominent critic, “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart, roasted Tapper for constantly plugging his own book leading up to its release.

“I think most people saw what he was doing and thought it was nutter butter,” the CNN staffer told Fox News Digital.

One CNN journalist told Breaker Media that Tapper was “very, very unhappy” about the policy change so much so that he was gathering other anchors to meet with CNN CEO Mark Thompson to express their opposition.

A spokesperson for CNN declined to comment.

Vonn mourns 13-year companion as recovery from Olympic injuries continues

As if Lindsey Vonn hadn’t gone through enough, the skier announced Wednesday that her beloved dog, Leo, had died.

Leo died one day after Vonn crashed in a run at the Milan Cortina Olympics, which has resulted in four surgeries already, with more likely.

“2/9/2026 Leo passed away. The day after my crash I said goodbye to by my big boy as I laid in my hospital bed,” Vonn said. “Been some of the hardest days of my life and still have not begun to process his passing… I will always love you Leo.”

Vonn said Leo had been suffering from lung cancer and that she had owned him for 13 years.

Vonn suffered immense Olympic heartbreak on Feb. 8 when she broke her leg in a hard crash in the women’s downhill alpine skiing event earlier in the 2026 Milan Cortina Games. She attempted to power through a ruptured ACL to make the podium, but the latest injury set her further back.

She suffered the ACL injury during a practice run just one week before the Games.

“Haven’t stood on my feet in over a week… been in a hospital bed immobile since my race. And although I’m not yet able to stand, being back on home soil feels amazing,” she wrote in a post on X earlier this week.

“Huge thank you to everyone in Italy for taking good care of me.”

Vonn, 41, needed to be airlifted off an Italian mountain in a frightening scene during her downhill competition.

Before the Games began, many wondered how Vonn would ski on her ruptured ACL, but she was determined to attempt to medal in her signature event. Her runs on Friday and Saturday went fine, but she lost control a few seconds into her run, and things got very serious afterward.

Olympian who chose to represent China over US claims she’s been ‘physically assaulted’

Eileen Gu has sparked controversy over her decision to represent China instead of the United States.

Born in San Francisco, Gu made the decision in 2019 to compete for China and defended her choice ahead of this year’s Olympic Games. Gu’s mother was born in China and earned her master’s degree there.

The decision has garnered backlash online and on camera from numerous figures. However, Gu recently claimed that some have taken it too far, including being “physically assaulted on the street.”

“She was born in America. She was raised in America, lives in America, and chooses to compete against her own country for, literally, the worst human rights abuser on the planet, China. She built her fame in a free country, and then chooses to represent an authoritarian regime,” Freedom said.

“She chose to play for a country that is literally responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of its own people, and literally running a concentration camp while we’re talking,” Freedom said, comparing Gu’s silence on the issue to LeBron James‘ declining a question about China’s alleged human rights abuses in 2019.

‘Transformers’ star shares two-word message following Mardi Gras meltdown

Shia LaBeouf broke his silence Wednesday, nearly 24 hours after he was arrested on simple battery charges in New Orleans.

“Free me,” LaBeouf wrote on social media just after 2 a.m. Earlier in the day, the “Transformers” actor was spotted celebrating Mardi Gras and dancing on Bourbon Street with his release papers in his mouth, WGNO reported.

Prior to his arrest, LaBeouf showed off an arsenal of colorful Mardi Gras-themed baubles in a selfie shared on X. 

LaBeouf’s whirlwind day began with an early-morning bar fight in the Faubourg Marigny district of the city. Authorities responded to a simple battery on the 1400 block of Royal Street at approximately 12:45 a.m. Tuesday where two male victims reported being assaulted, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

The “Even Stevens” actor reportedly struck the same victim again with “closed fists to the victim’s upper body” before allegedly assaulting another person by punching them in the nose.

“LaBeouf was again held down until police arrived,” police said. “He was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Upon release, he was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.”

LaBeouf’s representatives did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The “Salvable” star was previously arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of misdemeanor theft from a theft and battery incident that took place in June 2020. 

LaBeouf narrowly avoided jail time and was ordered to attend private therapy to work on his anger management at least once a week, continue monitoring his alcohol by wearing a Soberlink device and undergo random alcohol testing.

His ex-girlfriend, FKA Twigs, accused him of sexual battery, assault and the infliction of emotional distress in a 2020 lawsuit. 

Twigs, a British singer whose full name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, met Shia while working on their 2018 film “Honey Boy,” and they dated for eight months before ending things in 2019.

In her lawsuit, she accused LaBeouf of “knowingly” giving her a sexually transmitted disease, and described the abuse throughout their relationship as “relentless.” She also alleged he would “squeeze or grab her to the point of bruising.”

He denied many of the allegations at the time, and stated he was working toward betterment as he had not yet been cured of his “PTSD and alcoholism.” In July 2025, Twigs settled the lawsuit against LaBeouf. 

Common breakfast food may lower bad cholesterol in just 48 hours, study reveals

Eating oats for just a short period of time could have a profound impact on cholesterol levels, according to a recent study.

Researchers from the University of Bonn in Germany conducted a trial in which adults consumed a calorie-reduced diet of almost exclusively oatmeal for two days.

All participants suffered from a metabolic syndrome associated with a risk of diabetes, including a combination of high body weight, high blood pressure, elevated blood glucose or elevated blood lipid levels, according to a university press release.

The 32 participants ate oatmeal, previously boiled in water, three times a day, for a total of 300 grams. They were only permitted to add fruits or vegetables to their meals and consumed around half of their normal caloric intake.

A control group was put on a calorie-reduced diet that did not include oats. Although both groups benefited, the cholesterol levels of those on the oat diet “improved significantly.” After six weeks, this effect “remained stable.”

Study author Marie-Christine Simon, junior professor at the Institute of Nutritional and Food Science at the University of Bonn, shared in a statement that the level of LDL, or “bad” cholesterol, among the oatmeal-eating group was reduced by 10%.

“That is a substantial reduction, although not entirely comparable to the effect of modern medications,” Simon said. “They also lost two kilos in weight on average, and their blood pressure fell slightly.”

The authors concluded that the diet influenced microorganisms in the gut, leading to the positive reaction. The results were published in the journal Nature Communications.

Simon concluded that a short-term oat-based diet at regular intervals “could be a well-tolerated way to keep the cholesterol level within the normal range and prevent diabetes.”

“As a next step, it can now be clarified whether an intensive oat-based diet repeated every six weeks actually has a permanently preventative effect,” she said.

Certified holistic nutritionist Robin DeCicco, who was not involved in the study, said the findings “make sense” because oats have been known to potentially lower LDL cholesterol.

Oats contain prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial gut bacteria. When those bacteria ferment the fiber, they produce compounds that support digestive health, according to the expert.

“The more beneficial gut bacteria you have in your stomach, in your environment, the more that can reduce or inhibit the production of LDL bad cholesterol,” New York-based DeCicco told Fox News Digital.

Oats are also a whole grain that is naturally low in saturated fat and rich in fiber and provides a good amount of plant-based protein.

“All those things are good for a heart-healthy, cholesterol-lowering diet,” DeCicco noted.

DeCicco did warn that those who are diabetic or prediabetic should “be careful” when eating oats.

“While oats can lower cholesterol, they are an overly high-carbohydrate food,” she said. “A recommendation for anyone who’s watching their blood sugar, and especially who’s diabetic, is to eat foods that are lower in starch and higher in protein and fiber, [and to get] their carbohydrates more from vegetables and nuts.”

Megan Wroe, registered dietitian at the Wellness Center at Providence St. Jude Medical Center in Orange County, California, agreed that oat consumption “does seem to lower cholesterol levels for all studied populations, with the greatest impact shown in those with elevated levels.”

“There are no significant risks, but some people may experience cramping or indigestion if they have not previously eaten much fiber and suddenly start eating oats every day,” Wroe, who also was not involved in the study, told Fox News Digital. “Also, those requiring a gluten-free diet will want to ensure that the oats they eat are certified gluten-free.”

The nutritionist also shared the concern that oatmeal is commonly made with water or milk and eaten with added sugar and fruit, which makes it a “potentially very high-glycemic meal.”

“Knowing this, my recommendation is to eat oats as often as you like, choosing steel-cut or rolled oats, using fruit for sweetness or a low-glycemic sweetener if needed, such as monk fruit,” she advised.

Wroe also suggests finding a way to add protein to balance out the carbohydrates. 

“This can be done by adding chia or flax seeds to the oats, mixing in protein powder or topping with Greek yogurt to serve,” she said.

Hollywood legend calls out film industry’s hypocrisy over nudity and aging

Sharon Stone has another bone to pick with Hollywood. 

On Monday, the “Basic Instinct” star, 67, called out the entertainment industry’s hypocrisy surrounding nudity after a film crew asked her to remove a painting in her home that features a naked woman during an at-home tour. 

“Are we supposed to be terrified when we look in the mirror?” she asked in a video posted to Instagram. “Is it supposed to be a secret when we pee and poo and brush our teeth? Oh, are you supposed to look in there and go, ‘Oh, why are we supposed to be afraid of our own human self?’”

“It’s like the weirdest idea in the world to me. Oh, no, look at that. Excuse me, I wear it every day. I get up in it, I go to sleep in it. I pee in it, I poo in it. It’s my apartment. Yeah, I live here.”

Speaking to Willie Geist on “Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist” in 2021, Stone, who is now a dedicated artist and painter, said she has found peace in her art. 

“I’m in a really grateful place,” she said. “When I was a kid, I always wanted to have a house full of kids running and screaming and dogs, and I got it. And I feel very blessed and happy about the life I got. We’re happy together, and what’s better than that?”

Florida teen survives neck-slashing attack as suspect arrested days after jail release

A Florida sex offender is behind bars after allegedly slashing a teenager’s neck while he walked along the Daytona Beach Boardwalk with his parents on Valentine’s Day.

After spending the day at the Daytona International Speedway, Sullivan Clarke, 13, was talking on the phone while walking back to his hotel with his parents.

His mother, Lori, saw a man approach Sullivan and quickly slice his neck.

“I thought he was stealing Sully’s phone,” Lori told affiliate FOX 35 Orlando. “As soon as he slashed him, I yelled and I said ‘Hey!’”

Sullivan’s father, Jerod, said as soon as they realized what happened, they could see their son’s neck “gashed wide open.”

Doctors told the family if the cut had been one millimeter deeper, the attack would have been fatal.

“The crazy thing is, I turned at the perfect time because I was on the phone and I happened to be looking up at the slingshot [ride] and I turned,” Sullivan said. “That’s how he got the side of my neck and not right [in the center].”

The suspect, identified as Jermaine Lynn Long, 44, of Daytona Beach, was later found hiding near an overpass on the pier.

Long was arrested and is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to Volusia County Jail records. He was granted a $50,000 surety bond.

Jail records show Long was released from jail just four days before the attack and had pending charges from an incident in January for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and touching or striking another person.

He also has a lengthy criminal history, with prior arrests including:

• Oct. 19, 2022: Refusing to leave public property
• Oct. 30, 2022: Battery, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a schedule II substance, introducing contraband into a detention facility, and resisting a transit agent while committing theft
• March 2, 2023: Failure of sex offender to properly register and refusing to leave public property
• Sept. 29, 2025: Petit theft
• Oct. 16, 2025: Possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription
• Dec. 15, 2025: Refusing to leave public property

A local worker, Andrew Walker, told FOX 35 he was “blown away” because he had spoken with Long minutes before the attack.

“I see the man come down in cuffs, and I was like blown away because that was the same dude I saw walking past me, that just stabbed somebody in the neck,” Walker said.

Long has refused to talk to investigators and police have not yet determined a motive, according to the outlet.
