Biden’s blockbuster move dramatically alters race with nearly 100 days until election

Sunday marks 100 days until Election Day 2024.

It also marks one week since President Biden’s political landscape-altering announcement that he was suspending his re-election rematch against former President Trump.

Biden made his move amid mounting pressure from within the Democratic Party for him to drop out after a disastrous performance in last month’s first presidential debate with Trump.

2024 SHOWDOWN: TRUMP QUICKLY MOVES TO TRY AND DEFINE HARRIS

The embattled president’s immediate backing of Vice President Kamala Harris last Sunday ignited a surge of endorsements for the vice president by Democratic governors, senators, House members and other party leaders. Within 36 hours, Harris announced that she had locked up her party’s nomination by landing the verbal backing of a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention.

ICING ON THE DEMOCRATS’ 2024 CAKE – THE OBAMAS ENDORSE HARRIS

Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama on Friday became the final major party leaders to endorse the vice president.

Harris also hauled in a staggering $129 million in fundraising following Biden’s announcement, which her campaign touted on Thursday morning.

“It’s go-time for both sides,” longtime Republican consultant David Kochel told Fox News.

Besides uniting and exciting Democrats, the replacement of Biden by his vice president as the party’s standard-bearer – which is expected to become official during a virtual roll call of convention delegates that starts on Aug. 1 – has given Harris a bump in public opinion polling.

What was once a margin-of-error race between Biden and Trump had turned into a clear edge for the former president in the weeks after their June 27 debate showdown in Atlanta. However, with Harris now at the top of the ticket and Biden out of the race, surveys indicate it is back to a margin-of-error race.

“Instead of what was shaping up to be a Trump win, America has a real, bona fide race on its hands,” veteran political scientist and New England College President Wayne Lesperance said. “Game on.”

While Harris faces the monumental task of going from zero to 60 in an extremely condensed timeline, she is not starting from scratch, as she immediately inherited Biden’s large campaign apparatus with its vast ground-game resources in the key swing states.

However, Harris does face a crucial immediate task – choosing a running mate – which could come as early as the next week or two.

Biden and Trump are both well-known commodities to American voters.

However, Kochel, a veteran of numerous GOP presidential campaigns who remained neutral in the 2024 Republican primary, emphasized that most Americans know so little about the vice president’s record and that both the Trump and Harris campaigns are “in a race to define” Harris.

In his first campaign rally since the presidential race was upended, Trump did not waste any time in trying to define his new opponent.

At a rally in the crucial battleground state of North Carolina, the Republican presidential nominee repeatedly took aim at Harris, whom he derogatorily called “lying Kamala Harris.”

Trump aimed to paint Harris as the “most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history.”

The former president charged that Harris “has been the ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe. She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country if she ever gets the chance to get into office.”

Additionally, pointing to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, an Independent, a far-left champion and two-time runner-up for the Democratic presidential nomination, Trump argued that Harris is “more liberal than Bernie Sanders. Can you believe it?”

Throughout his more than an hour and a half stream of comments, Trump repeatedly slammed the vice president over border security and crime, two top issues in the 2024 election.

Trump campaign spokesman and senior adviser Steven Cheung said that the former president’s team was ready to go on offense the moment Harris succeeded Biden as the Democrats’ standard-bearer.

“There wasn’t any surprise. We were prepared for it. We had all our assets ready. We had all our content ready. It didn’t surprise anyone,” Cheung told reporters ahead of the Trump rally.

Harris, pushing back, is pointing to her hefty law enforcement résumé as she spotlights Trump’s numerous legal controversies, including his 34 felony convictions two months ago in the first criminal trial of a former or current president.

“As many of you know, before I was elected as vice president, before I was elected as a United States senator, I was the elected attorney general of California. Before that, I was a courtroom prosecutor. In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds,” Harris said Monday at an event at her campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So, hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type,” she emphasized as she pointed to Trump’s multiple lawsuits and criminal cases, many of which are ongoing.

Harris repeated the line of attack the next day at a rally in Milwaukee.

With 100 days to go until Election Day, the rhetoric this past week on the campaign trail is just an appetizer of things to come.

Where does Joe Biden rank among America’s worst presidents?

President Biden’s time in the White House is mercifully coming to an end. He’s now officially a lame duck with six months to go.

Biden was a victim here of a corrupt Democratic machine (with a complicit media) that thought it could pull off a grand election-year deceit despite Biden’s failing cognitive abilities.

The establishment and a compliant media convinced millions of primary voters that he was of sound mind and ready to serve four more years. This lust for power put America in danger. How could they be so unpatriotic?

So where will Biden stand in the history books? He wasn’t a failed president because of his declining cognitive abilities. It was his policies that wrecked America.

AMERICA’S WORST EX-PRESIDENTS: WOULD THESE 4 MEN BE ON YOUR LIST?

From his first days in the Oval Office, he governed from the far left on everything from climate change to radical income redistribution to massive government expansionism to racial politics to a “blame America first” foreign policy to his dangerous weaponization of every agency of government, from the IRS to the State Department to the FBI to the Justice Department and perhaps even the Secret Service.

He made Richard Nixon look like an amateur.

It’s hard to point to a single policy that he got right. On the economy he was catastrophically bad. The trillions of dollars of debt he rang up bought nothing.

He sent inflation to the highest levels in almost 40 years. The average family lost $2,000 of income after inflation during his reign. Test scores fell. More people died of COVID-19 during his presidency than in former President Trump’s – despite the availability of the vaccine

BEFORE BIDEN, THESE 5 PAST PRESIDENTS FACED HEALTH ISSUES AMID RE-ELECTION

Interest rates rose. Home ownership became a pipe dream for young people. Homeowners faced mortgage payments that doubled.

Biden declared war on American energy. He put America back into the corrupt Paris climate accords. The rest of the world went on using more fossil fuels than ever. By impeding U.S. oil and gas production and pipelines, he played into the hands of our enemies – China and Iran.

Gas prices rose. Small business confidence sagged. Two-thirds of Americans consistently told pollsters that the economy was “fair” or “poor.” Poverty rates rose.

Even the one statistic that Biden boasts about – job creation – is a mirage. Most of the jobs were government or health care jobs. With the government borrowing $2 trillion a year, there is no reason the government should be hiring more workers.

WHAT MAKES A PRESIDENT GREAT?

Then there was the sheer incompetence. The bungled Afghanistan withdrawal was a national security disaster. The border became a broken dam, with some 10 million illegals flowing into the country. The government spent $7 billion to build electric vehicles, and only a handful got built.

Biden gave away hundreds of billions of dollars for an illegal and immoral student loan forgiveness program. He put regulators of key agencies in charge even though – or because – they hate business. Less than 10% of his appointees had any business experience. It showed.

He tried to pass mandates that would force Americans to give up their gas cars, gas stoves and other appliances.

When he departs the White House in January, he will leave the nation poorer, weaker, more divided, more in debt, more vulnerable and less respected than when he entered office.

This was a man who pledged to unite the country and did just the opposite. He deserves to go down in history as one of the five worst presidents of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Here is my list, starting with the worst:

1. Woodrow Wilson
2. Herbert Hoover
3. Jimmy Carter
4. Joe Biden
5. Barack Obama

Now the Democrats want to run Vice President Kamala Harris, who was on board with every Biden policy and oversaw the worst border catastrophe in modern history.

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse.

Liberal media silent when pressed why they suddenly reject Harris’ title

Liberal media organizations are largely remaining mum over the unified stance they have embraced in rejecting the unofficial “border czar” label of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris was widely dubbed the “border czar” after President Biden tasked her in March 2021 to address the root causes of mass migration from Central and South America. While the Biden administration has rejected the title, the term was widely used by her critics and even embraced by multiple news organizations, at least until she ascended to the top of the ticket as the Democratic presidential nominee after Biden announced his exit from the race.

Fox News Digital asked several news organizations, including CNN, MSNBC, CBS, The New York Times and Axios, about their vocal rejection of the “border czar” label in recent days, pressing why all of a sudden they were doing so and whether the Harris campaign pressured them into resisting the label. Most did not respond.

THE MEDIA’S SUDDEN REJECTION OF KAMALA HARRIS’ ‘BORDER CZAR’ LABEL

PolitiFact gave the claim by Republicans that Harris as border czar was “put in charge of stopping illegal immigration” a “Mostly False” rating

Katie Sanders, the editor-in-chief of PolitiFact, told Fox News Digital “we were under no pressure to write this article from the Harris campaign, nor from the White House, nor from anyone else.”

“This is one of many talking points circulating since her recent candidacy, and we heard it during the [Republican National Convention], too. That’s why we decided to start on a fact-check of it at the beginning of the week,” Sanders said.

USA Today similarly ruled it “false” to say she was “put in charge of the border” and that her role was “more limited” than what a border czar would do.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, a USA Today spokesperson said, “The USA TODAY Fact Check team works independently. Our team was not in communication with the Harris campaign and we stand by our reporting.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre cited “independent fact-checkers” touting the administration’s talking points on the matter under questioning about Harris this week.

Axios went viral Wednesday with its report about the “border confusion” that has haunted Harris, telling readers “the Trump campaign and Republicans have tagged Harris repeatedly with the ‘border czar’ title — which she never actually had.”

However, critics cited Axios’ own reporting from 2021 saying that Biden had appointed Harris “border czar.” Axios later added an editor’s note, stating, “This article has been updated and clarified to note that Axios was among the news outlets that incorrectly labeled Harris a ‘border czar’ in 2021.”

AXIOS HIT WITH COMMUNITY NOTE AFTER CLAIMING HARRIS WAS NEVER ‘BORDER CZAR’

CNN also went through a drastic shift. During the Biden-Harris administration, multiple correspondents and commentators referred to Harris as the “border czar,” including analyst Alyssa Farah Griffin.

But this week, CNN anchors including Jake Tapper, John Berman and Kasie Hunt have rebuked the title.

“[Former President Trump] said she was Joe Biden‘s border czar. She wasn‘t,” CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale said Wednesday. “She was never put in charge of the border. She was given a much more limited assignment to lead a so-called root causes diplomatic effort trying to address the reasons in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras that people choose to migrate.”

“Many Republicans scoff at this kind of fact-check, they’re like ‘There were a bunch of articles back in 2021, they called her ‘border czar.’ Frankly, those articles were wrong,” Dale added, touting the outlet’s own reports at the time that didn’t embrace the term.

Several hosts on MSNBC similarly pushed back against the label. Symone Sanders, who previously served as Harris’ chief spokeswoman in the Biden administration before joining the network, lumped in the border czar claims against her former boss with “misinformation” about the VP.

“People are going to have to challenge the misinformation,” Sanders said Wednesday on “Morning Joe.” “You already hear folks talking about the ‘border czar.’ She wasn’t the ‘border czar.’ She did diplomacy in Central America, but the campaign is going to have to make that case.”

NEW YORK TIMES SPINS KAMALA HARRIS’ PAST WORD SALADS AS ‘CELEBRATORY ARTIFACTS’ WITH CANDIDACY UNDERWAY

ABC’s Jonathan Karl sang from the same sheet of music, saying, “She wasn’t the border czar. That’s what Republicans labeled her. She was given the job of dealing with all the migration that was coming up from Central America. But they will portray her as the one that was in charge of the border, which of course is issue No. 1 for Republicans.”

CBS News pushed back on the label with multiple segments dedicated to the subject on its streaming channel.

“Vice President Harris was not a border czar,” CBS anchor John Dickerson declared in one of the segments before a correspondent elaborated on what her role was.

MSNBC, CNN LEFT ‘BLOWN AWAY,’ WITH ‘CHILLS’ AFTER HARRIS’ FIRST CAMPAIGN SPEECH: ‘JUMPING OUT OF MY SEAT’

Several other outlets also bent over backwards to separate Harris from the label. Time Magazine ran the headline, “Kamala Harris Was Never Biden’s ‘Border Czar.’ Here’s What She Really Did,” calling the label “misleading” while admitting it had become a “political liability.”

NPR said conservatives “made up the inaccurate term ‘border czar,’” insisting the role of controlling the border belongs to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The Washington Post accused the Trump campaign of “falsely branding her the nation’s ‘border czar'” in a campaign ad.

The New York Times got ahead of other news organizations, printing the headline “Why Republicans Keep Calling Kamala Harris the ‘Border Czar” on July 17, four days before Biden announced his exit from the race.

“Ms. Harris was not, in fact, appointed border czar, nor was she tasked with addressing the broader problems plaguing the border itself,” the Times wrote last week. “Rather she was deputized by President Biden with the diplomatic mission of solving the ‘root causes’ of migration from countries like Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, tackling the issues that spur people to flee in the first place, like drug violence and lack of economic opportunity.”

JD Vance’s Secret Service code name unveiled — see what agents call our nation’s VIPs

As the Secret Service continues to face scrutiny and outrage after former President Donald Trump was nearly killed by an assassin’s bullet on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the agency reportedly has issued a new code name for vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance.

The Republican senator from Ohio is Trump’s running mate as the 45th president hopes to regain the White House.

Vance’s Secret Service code name is “Bobcat,” according to the Daily Mail, citing a friend of Vance’s. Fox News Digital reached out to the Trump-Vance campaign for comment as well as to the Secret Service.

JD VANCE’S HOMETOWN OF MIDDLETOWN, OHIO, WAS BUILT BY STEEL INDUSTRY: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT IT

Secret Service code names are given to presidents, vice presidents, first ladies and other high-profile persons under the agency’s protection.

They once had a real cloak-and-dagger purpose to help protect the nation’s top leaders.

But these days, in the era of encrypted technology, the names are largely ceremonial and used for ease of communication in fast, high-pressure situations.

TRUMP ‘STOOD THERE LIKE A MAN’ AFTER BEING SHOT, WILL SOAR SPIRITUALLY AND POLITICALLY, SAYS REAGAN INSIDER

Code names are selected by “sheer whim,” a Secret Service spokesperson once told The Washington Post.

But they do appear to have some connection to the individual’s personal history or heritage. And note the alliteration of code names within families, said to be tradition.

Here’s a look at some known Secret Service code names, as reported by Britannica and other sources.

Bobcat

Vice presidential candidate Vance. “Bobcats” is the nickname for both Ohio University and Breathitt County High School, in Jackson, Kentucky, the family hometown Vance profiled in “Hilbilly Elegy,” his bestselling 2016 memoir.

Capri

First lady Jill Biden, married to Celtic.

Celtic

President Joe Biden. He was Renegade’s vice president when he first earned a code name that pays tribute to his Irish roots.

Dancer

First lady Rosalynn Carter, married to Deacon. Her other code name was Lotus Petal.

Deacon

President Jimmy Carter. It “reflected his deeply religious faith,” noted Britannica.

Eagle

President Bill Clinton. “Some speculated that the code name concerned his association with the Boy Scouts,” said Britannica, given that “Eagle Scout” is the organization’s top rank.

Evergreen

First lady Hillary Clinton, married to Eagle.

Hoosier

Vice President Mike Pence. He hails from Indiana — the Hoosier State.

Hummingbird

Second lady Karen Pence, married to Hoosier.

Lace

First lady Jackie Kennedy. A tribute, apparently, to her elegant style and an alliteration with her husband’s code name.

Lancer

President John F. Kennedy. The “code name was apt, given that his administration was often compared to Camelot … of which Lancelot was a legendary knight,” according to Britannica.

Lyric

Caroline Kennedy. A prophetic nickname: President Kennedy’s daughter was the inspiration for Neil Diamond’s sing-a-long hit, “Sweet Caroline,” written in 1969, six years after her father was assassinated.

Muse

First lady Melania Trump, married to Mogul. Perhaps a tribute to the former model’s inspirational beauty.

Mogul

President Donald Trump. He wanted the code name “Humble,” Britannica said, adding that “the Secret Service opted for something … a little less humble.”

Passkey

President Gerald Ford, who succeeded Nixon.

Pioneer

Vice president Kamala Harris, who reportedly picked the name in August 2020 shortly after, like Vance, she was tapped as a VP candidate.

Rainbow

First lady Nancy Reagan, married to Rawhide.

Rawhide

President Ronald Reagan. Reagan appeared in several westerns and often wore a cowboy hat while campaigning to be governor of California.

Renaissance

First lady Michelle Obama, married to Renegade.

Renegade

President Barack Obama. He “opted for this moniker after being presented with a list of names beginning with the letter ‘R,’” Time magazine reported in 2021.

MEET THE AMERICAN WHO STITCHED TOGETHER THE STARS & STRIPES, BETSY ROSS, REPUTED WARTIME SEDUCTRESS

Searchlight

President Richard Nixon. His Secret Service nickname “is deeply ironic,” Time magazine and others reported, given the Watergate scandal that brought down Nixon’s presidency.

Sunburn

Sen. Ted Kennedy. “The pale, Irish-Catholic New Englander had to suffer this code name” while running for president in 1980, according to Time Magazine.

Trailblazer

President George W. Bush. A “complimentary” code name, Britannica noted.

Tranquility

First lady Barbara Bush and mother of another president. “Snowbank” was apparently an alternate code name for her.

Tumbler

Also used for George W. Bush, when his father Timberwolf was president.

Harrison Butker reacts to drag queens reenacting Last Supper during opening ceremony

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker slammed the Paris Olympics opening ceremony after one of the performances included drag queens among other performers parodying “The Last Supper.”

Butker, who went viral back in May for sharing his faith-based views during a commencement speech at a Catholic college in Kansas, took to social media to share his take.

“This is crazy,” he wrote on a post in his Instagram Stories.

He also added a scripture from the Bible.

“Be not deceived, God is not mocked.”

In a clip of the post shared by Butker on his social media, several drag queens and other performers can be seen mocking the scene famously painted by Leonardo da Vinci, which depicts Jesus and his apostles sharing a final meal before the crucifixion.

OPENING CEREMONY NODS TO HEADLESS MARIE ANTOINETTE, MÉNAGE À TROIS RECEIVE MIXED REACTIONS

The performance, which also included a young child, drew harsh criticism.

Other acts during the opening ceremony also received mixed reviews from viewers on social media. In one scene, a woman and two men were seen embracing – seemingly suggesting a ménage à trois.

A headless depiction of Marie Antoinette, the last queen prior to the French Revolution, also received criticism.

Thomas Jolly, the artistic director of the opening ceremony, said the inspiration behind all the performances was to reinterpret the way the world sees France.

“The extraordinary thing is that everyone in France and the rest of the world has an idea of what France is all about. And I want to play with that, that’s where I want to start from – breaking down clichés, because clichés come along other things,” he said, according to the Olympics website.

Deli meat company known for its high quality ingredients issues recall

A recall has been issued for over 200,000 pounds of Boar’s Head deli meat due to a contamination concern.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Thursday that Boar’s Head is recalling ready-to-eat liverwurst products produced between June 11, 2024, and July 17, 2024.

The products are suspected of alisteria monocytogenes contamination and the recall extends beyond liverwurst products to all Boar’s Head meats processed on the same line and on the same day.

PRODUCE SOLD AT WALMART, ALDI, KROGER STORES RECALLED OVER LISTERIA RISK

Approximately 207,528 pounds of Boar’s Head products are affected by the recall.

“The problem was discovered when FSIS was notified that a sample collected by the Maryland Department of Health tested positive for L. monocytogenes,” the FSIS said in their announcement. “The Maryland Department of Health, in collaboration with the Baltimore City Health Department, collected an unopened liverwurst product from a retail store for testing as part of an outbreak investigation of L. monocytogenesinfections.”

RICE SOLD IN 7 STATES RECALLED DUE TO POSSIBLE CONTAMINATION OF ‘RODENT ORIGIN’

“Further testing is ongoing to determine if the product sample is related to the outbreak,” the FSIS added. “Anyone concerned about illness should contact a healthcare provider.”

The following Boar’s Head products are affected by the recall: Boar’s Head Strassburger Brand Liverwurst MADE IN VIRGINIA, Boar’s Head Virginia Ham Old-Fashioned Ham, Boar’s Head Italian Cappy Style Ham, Boar’s Head Extra Hot Italian Cappy Style Ham, Boar’s Head Bologna, Boar’s Head Beef Salami, Boar’s Head Steakhouse Roasted Bacon Heat & Eat, Boar’s Head Garlic Bologna and Boar’s Head Beef Bologna.

Recalled products were shipped to delis across the country and display establishment number “EST. 12612” inside the USDA inspection mark on their packaging.

Ingesting food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an infection with symptoms including fever, convulsions, diarrhea, muscle aches, and more.

Listeriosis primarily affects pregnant women, people over 65 years old, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
