Trump, Biden campaigns share massive fundraising hauls — one candidate comes out on top
Former President Trump’s campaign says it has out raised President Biden over the past three months and showcases that it has more cash-on-hand.
Trump’s campaign announced on Tuesday that it and the Republican National Committee hauled in a staggering $331 million during the April through June second quarter of 2024 fundraising, topping the massive $264 million raked in by the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee the past three months.
And the former president’s campaign spotlighted that it had $284.9 million in its coffers as of the end of June, compared to $240 million for Biden.

But Biden hauled in $127 million in June fundraising, topping the $111.8 million Trump raised last month.
“President Trump’s campaign fundraising operation is thriving day after day and month after month. Winning this quarter brought us a cash on hand advantage, which is punctuated by a Biden burn rate that grows while yielding no tangible results for them,” Trump co-campaign managers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles emphasized in a statement.

The Trump and Biden campaign cash reports were released as the president’s campaign tries to flip the script on the brutal narrative coming out of last week’s first debate.
Biden, who at age 81 is the oldest president in the nation’s history, is facing the roughest stretch of his bid for a second term in the White House. This, after his halting delivery and stumbling answers at the debate, sparked widespread panic in the Democratic Party and spurred calls from political pundits, editorial writers and some party elected officials and donors for Biden to step aside as the party’s 2024 standard-bearer.
A sizable chunk of Biden’s June’s haul was raked in at a star-studded fundraiser in Los Angeles with former President Obama, Hollywood heavyweights George Clooney and Julia Roberts, and late night TV talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. The campaign said after the event that it set a new Democratic Party fundraising record with a $30 million haul.
The president also brought in over $8 million a few days later at a fundraiser at the Northern Virginia home of former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, where Biden was also joined by former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State and former Sen. Hillary Clinton, who was the Democrats’ 2016 standard-bearer.

And in May, the Trump campaign and the RNC, fueled in part by a fundraising surge following the former president’s history-making guilty verdicts in his criminal trial, combined hauled in a stunning $141 million, easily besting Biden and the DNC.
Fundraising, along with public opinion polling, is a key metric used to measure the strength of a candidate and their campaign. Money raised can be used to build up grassroots outreach and get-out-the-vote operations, staffing, travel and ads, among other things.

The Biden campaign has been using its funds to build up what appears to be a very formidable ground operation in the key battleground states and announced two weeks ago that they had hired their 1,000th staffer and had opened over 200 coordinated offices in the swing states. The Biden campaign enjoys a large organizational advantage over the Trump campaign when it comes to grassroots outreach and get-out-the-vote ground game efforts in the states that will likely decide the outcome of the election rematch.
“Team Biden-Harris grew its historic war chest while also significantly expanding its footprint and operations both in HQ and across the key states – the resources needed to win a close election,” the campaign highlighted in a release.
But the Trump campaign argues that Biden’s team has been wasting their money.
“Despite Biden spending nearly $120 million on tv, cable and radio alone, polling and voter enthusiasm continue to grow for President Trump. This fundraising momentum is likely to grow even more as we head into a world-class convention and see the Democrats continue their circular firing squad in the aftermath of Biden’s debate collapse,” LaCivita and Wiles argued in their statement.

Press secretary gives blunt answer when asked point-blank whether Biden has dementia
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre answered point-blank that President Biden does not suffer from Alzheimer’s or any form of dementia in the wake of last Thursday’s debate.
“Does President Biden, at 81 years old, have Alzheimer’s, any form of dementia or degenerative illness that cause these sorts of lapses? And it’s a yes or no question,” a reporter asked Jean-Pierre on Tuesday afternoon.
“Are you ready for it? It’s a no. And I hope you’re asking the other guy the same exact question,” Jean-Pierre responded, referring to former President Trump.
Tuesday’s press briefing marked the first since Biden’s debate performance last week that sparked calls among Democrats and legacy media outlets that the president should drop out of the election over mounting concerns over his age and mental acuity. Biden was seen tripping over his words during the debate, losing his train of thought at times, responding with a raspy voice, and he was overall slammed for having a slow and weak demeanor while squaring off against Trump.

Last month, the White House dismissed repeated recorded instances of Biden’s gaffes or miscues during public events as “cheap fakes,” such as the viral video showing the president standing relatively motionless during a Juneteenth concert event at the White House.

Jean-Pierre doubled down during the White House press briefing that the administration has no regrets over promoting the cheap fake narrative, even after the debate sparked widespread concern over the president’s mental acuity, most notably among traditional left-wing allies. Cheap fakes, under the White House’s definition, are understood as real videos that are cropped or edited in an allegedly deceptive manner.
“Not at all, not at all,” she answered when Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich asked if the administration regretted using the terminology. “… Independent, mainstream fact-checkers in the press and misinformation experts have been calling out cheap fakes. And at the end of the day, they’re fakes. That’s what they were – targeting the president. They have said, the reporters and these misinformation experts, said that this president was being targeted. And what we did was echo them. That’s what we did. And look, we’ll certainly continue to call that out.”
Jean-Pierre noted that she did not coin the phrase and that the administration took the phrase from the media.

The Trump campaign called for an apology over the phrase last week, arguing that after Biden’s debate performance “everyone sees there’s NOTHING fake about Biden’s decline.”
“The Biden White House and entire Democrat Party are both directly implicated in the greatest coverup (sic) in U.S. political history – and the mainstream media is complicit in their lies to the American public about Joe Biden’s mental state,” Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News Digital last week. “They owe an apology to not just our campaign, but more importantly to the American people, for this major scandal that has led to the demise of our country over the past four years.”
The majority of questions Jean-Pierre fielded Tuesday afternoon revolved around Biden’s mental and physical health, with the press secretary underscoring that Biden and his allies, such as former President Obama, have noted the debate did not go well for the president but that he’s “fighting” for the American people.
“Is anyone in the White House hiding information about the president’s health or his ability to do the job day to day?” one reporter asked Jean-Pierre.
“Absolutely not,” she answered.

Jean-Pierre continued in the press briefing that the administration has been “transparent” about the president’s health history, saying they have released comprehensive medical reports for Biden’s annual checkups.

The press conference comes the same day as Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, called on Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, marking the first time an elected Democrat official called on the president to bow out.

Legacy media outlets, such as the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune, published opinion pieces calling on Biden to bow out of the race after the debate, and former elected officials and other traditional allies of the party have made similar remarks.
Archaeologists unearth ancient relic believed to be tied to Moses, Ten Commandments
Archaeologists conducting excavations at the site of a church have unearthed a marble shrine containing a relic that they believe may be tied to Moses receiving the Ten Commandments.
The shrine contained a 1,500-year-old ivory box adorned with Christian motifs, according to an Innsbruck University press release.
The item was discovered by archaeologists from Innsbruck University in southern Austria under an altar inside a chapel at the summit of Burgbichl, a small hill, in the municipality of Irschen.

Since 2016, archaeologists from the University of Innsbruck have been carrying out excavations in Irschen, which is a part of the Carinthian Drava Valley.
“We know of around 40 ivory boxes of this kind worldwide and, as far as I know, the last time one of these was found during excavations was around 100 years ago – the few pyxes that exist are either preserved in cathedral treasures or exhibited in museums,” Gerald Grabherr, the lead archaeologist, said in the release.
One motif shows a man turning his head with a hand rising out of the sky above him, placing something between the person’s arms, followed by depictions of biblical figures.

“This is the typical depiction of the handing over of the laws to Moses on Mount Sinai, the beginning of the covenant between God and man from the Old Testament,” said Grabherr.
The last motif depicts a man in a chariot with two horses harnessed to it. The motif also features the same hand coming out of the clouds, pulling this figure up into heaven.
“We assume that this is a depiction of the ascension of Christ, the fulfillment of the covenant with God. The depiction of scenes from the Old Testament and their connection with scenes from the New Testament is typical of late antiquity and thus fits in with our pyx; however, the depiction of the Ascension of Christ with a so-called biga, a two-horse chariot, is very special and previously unknown,” Grabherr said, according to the press release.
The researchers discovered two Christian churches, a cistern and the personal belongings of the settlement’s former inhabitants.

Towards the end of the Roman Empire that when times were more uncertain, settlers resided on hilltops that were easier to defend, abandoning the valley, Grabherr said in the release.
Researchers are conducting further investigations into the origin of the ivory, the metallic components and the wooden parts that were also found in the marble box.

Jill Biden Vogue cover story sends media into a tailspin: ‘I thought this was satire’
The timing of Vogue including First Lady Jill Biden on the cover of its August issue Monday sparked intense reaction on both the right and the left following her husband’s disastrous debate performance last week.
The highly favorable piece from the liberal magazine with the cover line, “We will decide our future,” was already completed pre-debate, but was updated Sunday when Vogue spoke to the First Lady about President Biden’s future in the White House. Biden told the magazine that her husband “will always do what’s best for the country” and that her family will not allow the president’s brutal debate performance to define his presidency and will “continue to fight.”
“The debate on June 27 spurred a discussion about whether President Joe Biden should remain the Democratic nominee,” Vogue wrote in a note at the top of the cover story. “Dr. Jill Biden, the first lady and Vogue’s August cover subject, has fiercely defended her husband and stood by him. Reached by phone on June 30 at Camp David, where the Biden family had gathered for the weekend, she told Vogue that they ‘will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president. We will continue to fight.’”
Since Biden’s showing against former President Trump last week, calls from liberal media allies have abounded for the president to drop out of the race over concerns about his mental fitness and cognitive ability. There have also been reports of concerned donors and Democratic Party “panic” over his performance, but the campaign has thus far held firm that Biden isn’t going anywhere.

The Vogue story focused on interviews and photos done before the debate, which lauded the First Family, framing the race between Biden and Trump as one between democracy and tyranny. Anna Wintour, Vogue’s longtime Editor-in-Chief, has held multiple fundraisers for the president.
When Vogue went live on Monday with its August magazine cover, the comments on the fashion magazine’s post were largely critical of what they believed to be an overtly political editorial move.
Instagram influencer Alexandra Peirce posted in the comments: “I swear, I thought this was satire. Lmfaooooooo how embarrassing.”
“Read the room, Vogue. No one is buying into your propaganda for inflation, WW3 and illegals,” one user said.
“Those 90 minutes most definitely did define the last 4 years of this administration!” a third reader said.
Many users commented about how Former First Lady Melania Trump, who was shunned by the magazine, never graced the magazine’s cover as is tradition for first ladies. Notably, Biden’s August cover story is her third appearance in Vogue during Joe Biden’s four-year term in office.
“Melania Trump is an actual super model who speaks 5 languages but she’s NEVER been on the cover of Vogue. Jill Biden commits vicious elder abuse on the world stage and now has two Vogue covers to show for it. Congrats Jill, you’ll be great in ‘The Devil Wears Depends,’” Fox News host Jimmy Failla wrote on X.
“Jill Biden, who has been covering up her husband’s dementia for years and is guilty of elder abuse, is on the cover of Vogue for July. This is why she and Hunter won’t tell him to step down, they won’t matter the minute he says he isn’t running,” OutKick founder Clay Travis posted to X.
C.J. Pearson, a co-chair of the GOP Youth Advisory Council, said on X: “Outside of how tone deaf this following Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance, it is even more absurd that Jill Biden somehow graced the cover of Vogue and @MELANIATRUMP was never given the opportunity.”

Janice Min, the editor-in-chief of Ankler Media, who was previously editor of The Hollywood Reporter and Us Weekly, told the New York Times that it is “not a great look when the president refuses to give news outlets one-on-one interviews but his wife has her third Vogue cover during an election where voters are saying over and over again it is all about the economy.”
“Is the Vogue audience really the path to victory in Michigan, Wisconsin and Nevada?” she asked. Min noted that Wintour is a well-known Democrat and Biden supporter.
“In an era where trust is in question, and Donald Trump is telling people the system is rigged and people believe him, I have to wonder about the wisdom of speaking through a publication edited by one of Joe Biden’s biggest fund-raisers,” Min added.
A representative for Vogue and Wintour told the New York Times: “It’s no secret that Anna has been a supporter of Democratic campaigns for decades. Our August cover story is a look at the tremendous work Dr. Biden has done, and the most urgent issues in 2024 and beyond.”

An article in The Washington Post, in contrast, described the image as “saintly” which “burnishes the image of the first lady as dedicated, but not arrogant.”
“Pure,” the outlet continued. “A savior, even: the only person who truly has her husband’s ear. Who can convince him whether he should press ahead with a campaign in deep crisis since last week’s debate, or step aside.”
While Vogue describes Jill as “down-to-earth Dr. B” fighting to meet the needs of American’s “core values,” the first lady’s cover outfit, a white Ralph Lauren tuxedo dress and Irene Neuwirth earrings retail for around $10,000. In the Vogue interview, Biden also admits that her “go-to clothes for traveling” are knit cashmere dresses by luxury fashion designer Gabriela Hearst, which retail for $1,550 a piece. She said she has them in all nine colors.

The New York Post editorial board went so far as to say that Jill Biden’s Vogue appearance proves she is “clinging to the reins of power.”
“Staying in the race can’t be good for Joe Biden’s failing health; it puts him on course to end his career in a landslide, humiliated after trying to hang on when he obviously can’t function,” the editorial said.
“But Jill wants him to ‘continue to fight’ because she has her eye on Vogue covers in a second term,” it read.
The Washington Examiner wrote “First lady Jill Biden’s appearance on the cover of Monday’s magazine would be darkly humorous if it weren’t so disturbing and condescending.”
“These alarming moments circulated on social media and in the news, with many pundits opining that it was Jill, not Joe, who so badly wants ‘four more years,’” the article wrote. “Her tone-deaf appearance on the cover of confirms these speculations, but it’s the contents of the in-depth article that prove just how out of touch with reality she and her avid supporters really are. “
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House and to Vogue for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Couple’s wedding takes horrific turn after masked gunmen invade, shoot groom in the head
A day of celebration quickly took a dark turn after a groom was shot in the head by armed robbers during his backyard wedding reception in Missouri.
Manuel and Dulce Gonzalez had been together for over a decade and were already the parents of two small children when they held an intimate wedding ceremony for about 50 of their close friends and family in the backyard of their St. Louis home Friday, Fox 2 Now reported Monday.
Just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a home in Dutchtown for reports of a shooting.
Witnesses told police two masked gunmen entered the party and demanded money from guests, police said.

The fever (no pun intended) is still running sky-high for Caitlin Clark.
The WNBA rookie phenom was not only named an All-Star, but she received the most votes among all players.
Clark was the only player to crack 700,000 votes (by 735), while her Indiana Fever teammate Aaliyah Boston ranked second with 618,680.

Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson, who had received the most votes in the first round, was third with 607,300.
Entering Tuesday, Clark was averaging 16.2 points and 6.9 assists per game, both of which rank tops among rookies. Among all players, she ranks third in assists per game and 16th in points per contest.
Clark will be teamed up with her longtime rival in Angel Reese, who recently set the league’s all-time record for most consecutive games with a double-double (10). Reese leads the WNBA with 11.8 rebounds per game, and is one of just four players averaging a double-double this season.
Although Clark recently poured cold water on any “rivalry” discussion between the two, their matchups are must-watch. It all started with the 2023 national championship, when Reese, then of LSU, hit Clark, an Iowa Hawkeye at the time, with a “you can’t see me” taunt and pointed at her ring finger.
Clark and Iowa got revenge in this past March Madness tournament, and Clark is also 2-1 against Reese in their WNBA careers. Now, the two will share a locker room, a bench, and, quite possibly, the floor. Their last two matchups are the two-most watched WNBA games in over 20 years.

The Fever got off to a slow start, losing 10 of their first 13 games, but rattled off four straight wins before losing two of their next three. As of Tuesday, they were 8-12 on the season.
Since scoring just seven points on 3-for-11 shooting back on June 13, Clark has found a groove, scoring double-digits in a season-high six straight games. She also has three double-doubles in that span, and has been awfully close to a triple-double in a couple of those instances. She has dropped 30 points twice this season, and has scored 20-plus in seven contests.
Of course, the conversation surrounding Clark has expanded well beyond what she does on the floor – her insane popularity has brought in historic ratings and attendance, which has led to speculation that her WNBA peers are jealous of her.
Wilson even claimed that Clark being White played a factor into her popularity, and there have been other slights towards her, both directly and discreetly.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. shared his concerns about President Biden’s mental acuity after his highly criticized performance last week at the CNN Presidential Debate in Atlanta.
RFK, Jr. told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum Tuesday on “The Story” that Biden’s debate performance was “alarming.”
“This is the man who’s going to be possibly woken up at 3:00 a.m. in the morning and have to make a decision within six minutes of waking up about whether to retaliate, whether to send a missile barrage onto the Russians,” he said.

The president has received calls for him to step down in the days following the CNN Presidential Debate. The New York Times reported Biden’s family urged him to stay in the 2024 race despite concerns about his cognitive ability.
RFK, Jr. said he hasn’t spoken with his family about their reactions to Biden’s performance, but on their listserv, a group email list, people were “shocked.”
“There was real shock. You know, people during the debate were texting each other. People who have very, very strongly…the strongest support of President Biden [were] saying to each other, this is embarrassing. This is terrible,” he recalled.

RFK, Jr. added that he believes the country is in a more dangerous and precarious situation since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He pointed to the Russia-Ukraine war and China’s growing influence, saying the country needs a president who is “actually looking at reality and is, you know, is trying to adjust our reality to the facts.”

A gutsy teenager at a Texas snow cone stand put an adult woman in her place after she was called a derogatory name over a $6 misunderstanding.
A viral video captured the interaction between two teenage girls, who were working at Keke’s Snow Balls in Willis, Texas, on Saturday, and an adult woman, dressed in a floral shirt and sunglasses.
The woman is seen approaching the window at the local shop and complained that she had prepaid $6, so her daughter could come by at a later time to pick up a snow cone.
“I came up here by myself and I paid for a snow cone plus six extra dollars, so when she wanted a snow cone she could come up here and get it,” the adult woman is heard saying in the video, which has racked up over 15 million views on TikTok. “Y’all didn’t give her the snow cone.”
“I need my $6 back,” she demands.

The 17-year-old manager, who witnessed the strained interaction between her coworker and the woman, walks up to the counter, opens the cash register and hands $6 to the dissatisfied customer.
“Here you go,” the teen is heard saying while handing the woman her money back.
As the adult is walking off, the teen closes the ordering window, knocking down a wooden sign on the exterior counter.
The other teen worker is heard saying, “Oh, no,” as the grumpy woman storms back to the stand.
“Bi—,” the woman is heard saying.

The teen did not miss a beat and quickly put the older woman in her place.
“Ma’am, please don’t act like that. You’re a grown woman! You’re a grown woman — I’m 17,” the girl said. “Get out of here. Don’t come back. Don’t come back. We don’t need your business.”
In the video’s caption, the company said that it rarely has the opportunity to “highlight mistreatment to staff.”
“I am proud of our supervisor’s handling of the situation. While businesses often face complaints, it’s rare to highlight mistreatment of staff,” the local business wrote. “We have permission from our employee’s parents to post this, with the customer’s face blurred out.”

Mets’ star forced to miss game after mysterious hotel bathroom incident
After waking up confused inside a hotel bathroom early Monday morning, outfielder Brandon Nimmo sat out the New York Mets’ game at Nationals Park later that evening.
Nimmo fainted in the room and hit his head as he fell to the floor.
First-year Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Nimmo cut his forehead but confirmed the outfielder avoided a concussion.
“He went through all the tests this morning,” Mendoza said. “Wanted to make sure we weren’t missing anything. Luckily, everything came back negative. So, I think we got lucky there.”

Nimmo recalled waking up shortly after 5 a.m. because he was not feeling well. At some point after he made his way to the bathroom, he cramped up and fainted.

When he came to and got up from the floor, he was bleeding from the head and wasn’t sure why. He called the Mets’ trainers, who went to his room to assist him.
Nimmo was then taken to a hospital, where he underwent testing. He arrived at the ballpark later Monday afternoon with a bandage on his forehead. He told reporters the bandage was a precaution.
“He’s got a pretty big cut,” Mendoza said.
Jeff McNeil replaced Nimmo in left field Monday. Nimmo returned to the Mets’ lineup Tuesday night and finished the game with two hits.

Nimmo is in his ninth season with the Mets. The 31-year-old is hitting .247 with 13 homers, a team-high 52 RBIs and an .824 OPS in 78 games this season.
