Senator outlines legal consequences for Omar after Trump’s immigration allegations
A top Senate Republican argued that if allegations against “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., that she married her brother to enter the U.S. were true, she’d be breaking several laws.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, joined the long-standing scrutiny against Omar Friday after President Donald Trump revived the allegations during a rally pushing his affordability agenda in Pennsylvania earlier this week.
In a post on X responding to a White House social media account that charged, “Yes, [Omar] married her brother,” Cruz listed a trio of federal and state laws the progressive lawmaker may have violated.
ILHAN OMAR’S EX APPEARS ON ‘DIRTY DANDY’ SOCIAL ACCOUNT AS TRUMP REVIVES MARRIED SIBLINGS CLAIM
“If this is true, then Omar faces criminal liability under three different statutes,” Cruz said.
Cruz argued that Omar could have committed federal marriage fraud, which stipulates that it is a felony to knowingly enter into a marriage to evade immigration laws, and could lead to up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and deportation.
Omar was born in Somalia and came to the U.S. in 1995 after her family was granted asylum. She became a citizen in 2000. Omar, who is Muslim, has been married legally three times, first in a religious marriage to Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi in 2002, then to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009 before later divorcing and legally marrying Hirsi. In 2020, she married political aide Tim Mynett.
SCOOP: ILHAN OMAR HIT WITH HOUSE ETHICS COMPLAINT OVER RESPONSE TO CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION
Cruz noted that Omar could also be breaking Minnesota’s state incest law, a felony in the state punishable by jail time up to 10 years. He also contended that she could be liable for tax fraud, specifically if joint tax returns were filed while she was not legally married.
That violation would levy up to a $100,000 fine and up to three years in prison.
MINNESOTA HOUSE HOPEFUL CALLS MARRIAGE, FRAUD CLAIMS ‘LIES’
The Senate Republican’s legal analysis of the situation comes after Trump resurrected the unsubstantiated claims that Omar had married her brother for immigration purposes that have dogged the lawmaker since she entered politics nearly a decade ago. She has denied the allegations.
Still, Trump charged, “She married her brother to get in, right?”

“If I married my sister to get my citizenship, do you think I’d last for about two hours or something less than that? She married her brother to get in,” he said. “Therefore, she’s here illegally. She should get the hell out.”

Men of all ages clash during Santa’s arrival at Christmas celebration
A wild brawl broke out last weekend during a Christmas celebration on Nantucket island in Massachusetts.
The melee, which was caught on video, occurred Saturday on Federal Street during the 51st Nantucket Christmas Stroll, the Nantucket Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Hundreds of people had gathered in the area to watch the arrival of Santa Claus in the wealthy enclave.
VIOLENT BRAWL ERUPTS IN DOMINO’S AS SUSPECTS HURL CHAIR, STRIKE OFFICER’S HEAD
In video footage, a group of men ranging in age from their 20s to their 60s can be seen arguing and shoving one another in the middle of the street.
The groups eventually split into two. In one group, two older men are seen shoving each other.
In another, a younger man is seen pushing another individual. Someone then jumps on the back of the assailant, who is thrown to the ground.

A full brawl then breaks out as several people are seen throwing haymakers at one another.
“It was kind of like the Jets and the Sharks from ‘West Side Story,’ only in Ralph Lauren and Burberry,” a witness told KISS108, referring to the two gangs in the musical. “It was 20-somethings versus, like, 60-somethings.”
“It was crazy,” she added. “It was mayhem.”
It was unclear what prompted the street fight.
Officers with the Nantucket Police Department responded to the scene at around 2 p.m., but no arrests have been made.

White House fires back after Democrats release new Epstein estate images
The White House accused Democrats from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform of spreading a “cherry-picked” and “false narrative” Friday after they released another batch of photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, this time featuring prominent figures including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Woody Allen.
The release comes about a week after the same group said it “received never-before-seen photos and videos of Jeffrey Epstein’s private island that are a harrowing look behind Epstein’s closed doors.”
“Oversight Dems received 95,000 new photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate. These disturbing images raise even more questions about Epstein and his relationships with some of the most powerful men in the world. Time to end this White House cover-up. Release the files!” Oversight Dems said Friday on X.
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson accused Democrats of “selectively releasing cherry-picked photos with random redactions to try and create a false narrative.”
DOJ CLEARED TO RELEASE SECRET JEFFREY EPSTEIN CASE GRAND JURY MATERIALS
“Here’s the reality: Democrats like Stacey Plaskett and Hakeem Jeffries were soliciting money and meetings from Epstein AFTER he was a convicted sex offender,” she added. “The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been repeatedly debunked, and the Trump administration has done more for Epstein’s victims than Democrats ever have by repeatedly calling for transparency, releasing thousands of pages of documents and calling for further investigations into Epstein’s Democrat friends.
“It’s time for the media to stop regurgitating Democrat talking points and start asking Democrats why they wanted to hang around Epstein after he was convicted.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., previously has fired back at accusations that he may have had dinner with Jeffrey Epstein or solicited donations from the disgraced financier. A House GOP effort to censure Plaskett also failed in mid-November.
GHISLAINE MAXWELL PLANS TO ASK JUDGE TO FREE HER FROM PRISON, AND SHE’LL REPRESENT HERSELF, LAWYER SAYS
A White House official also told Fox News Friday that the House Democrats selectively chose some of the photos to release, with random redactions intended for political purposes. None of the documents, the official added, have ever shown any wrongdoing by Trump.
Representatives for Clinton, Gates and Allen did not immediately respond Friday to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
Other images released Friday included photos of sex toys.
On Wednesday, a federal judge cleared the Justice Department to release secret grand jury transcripts from Epstein’s 2019 sex trafficking case.
U.S. District Judge Richard Berman reversed his earlier decision to keep the transcripts under wraps, citing Congress’ recent action on the Epstein files. Berman had previously warned that the contents of the roughly 70 pages of grand jury materials contain little new information.

That move came just one day after Judge Paul Engelmayer granted the DOJ’s motion to unseal separate grand jury transcripts and exhibits in Ghislaine Maxwell’s criminal case.
Michigan football recruits flee program after coach Sherrone Moore’s firing, arrest
At least two college football recruits who committed to the University of Michigan have decommitted from the program in the wake of coach Sherrone Moore’s recent firing and arrest.
Offensive lineman Bear McWhorter announced his decommitment in an X post Friday. McWhorter had been committed to Michigan since February.
McWhorter’s decision came one day after tight end recruit Matt Ludwig told Rivals he was granted a release from his signing with Michigan Thursday. Ludwig then committed to Texas Tech Friday, according to Rivals.

Moore was fired Wednesday, and the University of Michigan quickly announced it found credible evidence of an “inappropriate relationship” with a staffer. Moore was then detained by police Wednesday after news of his dismissal broke.
Moore was arraigned in court Friday on stalking and home invasion charges. According to prosecutors, he faces a felony charge of home invasion in the third degree and two misdemeanor charges of stalking and breaking and entering without the owner’s permission.
Both misdemeanor charges are classified as relating to a “domestic relationship.”
LANE KIFFIN LAUGHS OFF MICHIGAN HEAD COACHING RUMORS AMID SHERRONE MOORE CONTROVERSY
Prosecutors accused Moore of contacting the staffer via phone calls and texts after the breakup, prompting the victim to contact the University of Michigan and cooperate in its investigation. Moore was subsequently fired from his position as head football coach, which prosecutors said prompted him to show up at the woman’s home.
Moore then allegedly “barged” his way into the residence, grabbed a butter knife and a pair of kitchen scissors and then began threatening his own life. According to prosecutors, Moore allegedly told the staffer, “My blood is on your hands” and “You ruined my life.”
Prosecutors claimed Moore “terrorized” the staffer and that they believed him to be a “risk to public safety.”
The judge in the case granted Moore $25,000 bond with conditions that included regular mental health treatment, being fitted with a GPS tracking device, no contact of any kind with the alleged victim and remaining in Michigan.
Moore got married in 2015, and he and his wife have three daughters.

Francis Xavier “Biff” Poggi was named interim head coach and will be on the sideline when Michigan takes on Texas in the Citrus Bowl Dec. 31. Earlier this season, Poggi took over for Moore during Moore’s suspension for recruiting violations.
US team secretly rescues Venezuela opposition leader as daughter accepts Nobel Prize
A U.S. covert team carried out a mission to extract Venezuela’s opposition leader, María Corina Machado, as her daughter accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on her behalf in Europe.
Special forces veteran Bryan Stern described the treacherous operation and the measures taken to get her safely out of Venezuela.
“It was dangerous for her — very dangerous for her — dangerous for everybody involved, frankly,” said Stern, head of the Grey Bull Rescue Foundation, on Fox News Radio’s “Brian Kilmeade Show.”
Machado shocked much of the world when she appeared on a balcony in Oslo, Norway, on Thursday, thousands of miles from Venezuela.
Stern explained his group had been doing missions in Venezuela, but when they were first contacted about this task, they had no idea it involved such a high-profile figure.
VENEZUELAN OPPOSITION LEADER SAYS COUNTRY AT ‘THRESHOLD OF FREEDOM’ AS NEW MANIFESTO ENVISIONS REGIME CHANGE
“We didn’t know it was María at first,” he said, adding that learning her identity changed “everything.”
“She’s been a hero of mine for years. Being asked to participate in this — let alone lead this operation — is probably the greatest privilege I’ll ever have in my career,” Stern also said.
The escape unfolded by land, air and sea. At one point, Stern said they were in a small fishing boat in the middle of the night, battling “five- to 10-foot” rough seas. He described a retired Marine on the boat vomiting for hours due to the difficult conditions on the water.
WHY THE US COULD SNATCH A VENEZUELAN TANKER — AND NOT UNDER ‘WARTIME’ AUTHORITY USED IN CARTEL STRIKES
“María didn’t complain once,” Stern said, describing her behavior throughout the journey as “inspirational.”
Stern noted that the team operated under the constant threat of detection by Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro’s forces, and that he didn’t relax until Machado was in Norway.
“When I saw María hug her daughter is when I took a deep breath,” he said.
VENEZUELA ACCUSES US OF ‘PIRACY’ AFTER SEIZING MASSIVE OIL TANKER
Machado had been in hiding since January after she was detained in Caracas, an arrest her supporters say came after she joined crowds protesting Maduro’s inauguration. She has long been an outspoken critic of the Maduro regime and its contested elections, and she leads Venezuela’s main opposition movement.
She won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her work promoting democracy and human rights. Machado has publicly thanked President Donald Trump for his support against the regime and told Fox News Digital she dedicated the prize to him as well.

Her daughter, Ana Corina Sosa, accepted the award in her place on Wednesday, saying her mother will “never give up” on wanting to live in a free Venezuela.
Machado’s extraction comes as the U.S. steps up pressure on the Maduro government. Earlier in December, the White House confirmed the military seized a multimillion-dollar tanker reportedly carrying illicit Iranian oil.
City council unanimously votes against clearing the path for AI data center
The Chandler, Arizona, city council voted unanimously Thursday against clearing the way for construction of an AI data center.
Cheers and applause erupted after the unanimous vote outcome was announced.
Ahead of the vote, multiple people delivered remarks to register their opposition to the prospect of allowing the construction of the center, and some in the audience held signs opposing the proposed project.

Steelers star TJ Watt undergoes surgery after procedure at team facility goes wrong
The brother of Pittsburgh Steelers star linebacker T.J. Watt, former NFL star J.J. Watt, posted on Friday that his brother underwent a successful surgery to stabilize and repair a partially collapsed lung he sustained Wednesday.
J.J. posted to X that his brother sustained a collapsed lung after dry needling at the Steelers’ training complex.
The former Houston Texans star said his brother is being released from the hospital on Friday and that his recovery time is yet to be determined.
“He and his family are very appreciative of everyone’s kind words and well wishes,” J.J. said in his post.

T.J. Watt was hospitalized after experiencing discomfort in his lung, the team announced Thursday.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin ruled Watt out for the team’s game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday. Watt has played every game this season for the Steelers, and losing him is a big blow.
The Steelers, who moved into sole possession of first place in the AFC North with their 27-22 win over the Baltimore Ravens last week, are 7-6 and battling for a spot in the playoffs. The 31-year-old is a major part of the team’s defense.

In 13 games this season, Watt has seven sacks, three forced fumbles and 53 total tackles. The former Wisconsin star has made the Pro Bowl each of the last seven seasons.
Watt was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 after recording 22½ sacks. The four-time first-team All-Pro has been runner-up for the award in two other seasons.
In his career, Watt has recorded 115 sacks and 36 forced fumbles in 134 games and is constantly around the quarterback.

The Dolphins, who have won their last four games, are also in the hunt for a playoff spot. They are 6-7 on the season after a slow start and have their eye on snagging a wild-card spot because they cannot mathematically catch the New England Patriots (11-2) to win the AFC East.
The Steelers and Dolphins play in a pivotal AFC matchup at 8:15 p.m. ET Monday.
Scientists find key brain nutrient from everyday foods lacking in people with anxiety
Millions of Americans battle chronic anxiety — but new research claiming a missing brain nutrient may be partly to blame is already drawing skepticism from experts who say the findings are far from conclusive.
Using a non-invasive MRI-based technique that measures brain chemicals, researchers at UC Davis Health in California looked at data from 25 previous studies, comparing 370 people with anxiety disorders to 342 without anxiety.
They found that, across the combined studies, individuals with certain anxiety disorders showed an average of about 8% lower choline levels in brain regions that help regulate thinking and emotions.
BITE OF DARK CHOCOLATE COULD SHARPEN YOUR MEMORY WITHIN AN HOUR, STUDY SUGGESTS
“An 8% lower amount doesn’t sound like that much, but in the brain, it’s significant,” said senior study author Richard Maddock, a medical doctor and research professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, Davis.
Choline — found in foods such as eggs, beef, chicken, fish and soybeans — plays a key role in memory, mood and cell health, according to experts.
The study authors propose that heightened stress responses in anxiety disorders may increase the brain’s demand for choline, gradually lowering levels of the nutrient — especially in regions that help regulate stress and reduce the threat response, according to the published research.
The findings don’t prove that low choline causes anxiety. The researchers also emphasized that it’s too early to recommend eating more choline or taking large doses of it in supplement form.
BRAIN AGING MAY SLOW WITH GREEN TEA, WALNUTS AND TINY SWAMP PLANT, STUDY FINDS
The research does, however, reveal a pattern across three major anxiety disorders that could shape future research into how nutrition and brain chemistry interact with anxiety disorders, they said.
“It suggests nutritional approaches — like appropriate choline supplementation — may help restore brain chemistry and improve outcomes for patients,” study co-author Jason Smucny said in a statement.
But several clinicians and nutrition experts told Fox News Digital the results should be interpreted cautiously and warned Americans against assuming anxiety is caused by a nutrient deficiency.
Maddock said more research is needed to learn if increasing choline will reduce anxiety. He warned that heavy choline supplements can cause side effects.
Experts note that people may benefit from reviewing their choline intake as part of routine nutritional guidance and recommend discussing any changes — especially for those with anxiety — with a healthcare provider.
YOU MAY BE EATING KALE ALL WRONG AND MISSING OUT ON KEY NUTRIENTS, RESEARCHERS WARN
Choline is considered “essential” because the body makes only a small amount of it, and the rest has to come from food, research has shown. Studies have found that most Americans, including children, don’t get the recommended daily amount of the nutrient.
Some omega-3 fats found in fish, such as salmon, may be “especially good” at delivering choline to the brain, Maddock noted.
“Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States, affecting about 30% of adults,” Maddock said.
“They can be debilitating for people, and many people do not receive adequate treatment.”

Nona Kocher, a board-certified psychiatrist in Miami Beach, agreed that an 8% drop is not “trivial.”
Kocher, who was not involved in the study, described the pattern as potentially indicating stress on metabolic processes.
“One big misunderstanding is thinking that a nutrient deficiency is the main cause of anxiety.”
“We know from the clinic that this kind of burden is associated with feeling easily overwhelmed, feeling less resilient under stress and being mentally tired earlier in the day,” she told Fox News Digital.
Nonetheless, the data suggest a consequence more than a cause, she noted.

The researchers emphasized that the new findings do not mean choline is the cause of anxiety — or that people should ditch treatment plans in favor of diet tweaks. The MRI technique they used captures chemical stress signals in the brain, so low choline may reflect metabolic strain and not simply a nutrient deficiency.
“One big misunderstanding is thinking that a nutrient deficiency is the main cause of anxiety,” said Lauren Manaker, a registered dietitian nutritionist in South Carolina.
“Anxiety is complicated and usually involves a mix of factors, like genetics, life experiences and brain chemistry,” Manaker, who was not involved in the research, told Fox News Digital.
“While low choline might have an association, it’s not the whole story.”

Mood and anxiety disorders have been tied to other nutrient deficiencies, including vitamin D, Manaker said.
A balanced diet that includes foods like dairy milk and eggs — which provide choline, vitamin D, B12 and other brain-supporting nutrients — may help address those gaps, but nutrition is only one piece of managing anxiety, she emphasized.
Kocher agreed choline is just “one of many pieces of a larger stress biology puzzle, not the sole driver.”
Manaker said a choline-rich diet is important for overall brain health, regardless of whether someone has anxiety.

The actress shares her three kids with her estranged husband, Cash Warren. The two met while filming the 2005 movie “Fantastic Four” and got married in May 2008. After 16 years of marriage, the two announced their separation in January 2025, with Alba filing for divorce a month later, in February.
She recently spoke about what it was like to film a nude scene for the film, which she said was something she “dreaded.”
“I thought that was awful,” she said, according to the New York Post. “It was very humiliating in real life. I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days.”
Alba explained the character she played in the film, Sue Storm, was someone she “looked up to,” adding that while “she was very maternal and very kind,” she was not a pushover.
