Family ‘heartbroken’ as TV star Loni Anderson passes away after prolonged illness

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Loni Anderson, who famously portrayed receptionist Jennifer Marlowe in the comedy “WKRP in Cincinnati,” has died. She was 79.

Anderson died at a Los Angeles hospital following a “prolonged” illness, her longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. She was surrounded by her loving family.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother,” Anderson’s family said in a statement.

Over four decades, Anderson starred in various TV shows and films, including “Swat,” “Three on a Date,” “Three’s Company,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “The Love Boat,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” and more.

LONI ANDERSON SAYS SHE MADE PEACE WITH BURT REYNOLDS BEFORE HIS DEATH: ‘THERE ARE LOTS OF MEMORIES THERE’

Growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, Anderson’s greatest ambition was to be an actress. In 1975, Anderson moved to Los Angeles, where she quickly began making a name for herself.

She landed the role of the titillating and intelligent Jennifer Marlowe in 1978 and cemented her status as a beloved TV sex symbol.

LONI ANDERSON REFLECTS ON BECOMING A SEX SYMBOL AFTER ‘WKRP IN CINCINNATI’ FAME: ‘I EMBRACE IT’

“I remember we all did posters back then. Everybody always asks me, ‘What made you do a poster?’ I would say, ‘Because someday my grandchildren will look at this. And I’ll be able to tell them that I really looked like that. What you saw is what you got,” she told Fox News Digital in 2021.

“But you know, I had this discussion with Ann-Margret. Will there ever be a time when our names won’t be followed by ‘bombshell’ or ‘sex symbol?’ It becomes a part of your name,” she continued. “And you know, I’d never thought I would reach that point. I was so serious. I was doing ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ for 53 weeks on tour. I never thought I would be Loni Anderson, sex symbol. But I embrace it. I think I was lucky enough to have been able to play so many different things and sex symbol was a part of it. I took whatever my career threw at me. So I embrace it. And my granddaughters think it’s a hoot!”

In 1982 she co-starred in “Stroker Ace,” a feature film with then-future husband Burt Reynolds. Loni and Burt adopted their son Quinton Anderson Reynolds in August 1988.

In 2019, Anderson said she and Reynolds – who died in 2018 from a heart attack – made peace before his death with the help of their son.

“We were friends first and friends last,” Anderson told Closer Weekly at the time. “It’s time to move on.”

The “WKRP in Cincinnati” actress insisted she and Reynolds put aside the hostility they endured when the marriage came to an end for the sake of Quinton.

“We have this wonderful child together,” she said. “Having a son was a big event in our lives and so everything revolved around him.”

On top of TV and film, Anderson was a prominent member of the musical theater community and became a New York Times best-selling author with her 1995 autobiography, “My Life In Hells.”

“Loni was a class act. Beautiful. Talented. Witty. ALWAYS a joy to be around,” Steve Sauer, President/CEO Media Four and Anderson’s manager for 30 years, said in a statement. “She was the ultimate working mother. Family first…and maintained a great balance with her career. She and I had wonderful adventures together that I shall forever cherish. I will especially miss that infectious chuckle of hers. She will be forever missed.”

On May 17, 2008, Anderson married Bob Flick, a founding member of the 1960’s folk group The Brothers Four.

Anderson is survived by her husband, daughter Deidra and son-in law Charlie Hoffman, son Quinton Anderson Reynolds, grandchildren McKenzie and Megan Hoffman, stepson Adam Flick and his wife Helene, step-grandchildren Felix and Maximilian.

A private family service will be held at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery followed by A Celebration of Life at a future date.

‘The View’ co-host criticizes Kamala Harris’ post-campaign interview with Colbert

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin described former Vice President Kamala Harris‘ interview with Stephen Colbert as a “microcosm” of everything that’s wrong with the Democratic Party after the party lost in 2024.

“I was struck by, I’m going to try not be too harsh on this. This interview felt like a microcosm of everything that’s wrong with Democrats post-election. I’m going to CBS and this sort of trying to make a point that they fired Stephen Colbert, which many on the left called an attack on democracy, a man who was making $20 million a year, someone I hold in high esteem, but the economics of his show were not working,” Griffin said during an appearance on CNN’s “Table for Five” on Saturday.

CBS announced in July that they would be ending Colbert’s late-night show at the end of the next broadcast season, citing financial reasons. However, Colbert’s liberal allies believe the cancellation was political, as it came days after he criticized CBS’ parent company, Paramount, for settling with President Donald Trump.

“He was losing $40 million a year. He was in the Ed Sullivan Theater, which is expensive, to talk about the plight of democracy at CBS, a network that’s having its own struggles right now, rather than talking about the economics of the situation and playing to something a shrinking audience that is network television, not realizing it’s not where the American voters are,” Griffin, an anti-Trump Republican who voted for Harris in 2024, continued.

KAMALA HARRIS SCOLDS ‘PILING ON’ AGAINST JOE BIDEN WHEN ASKED ABOUT SEPARATING HERSELF DURING 2024 CAMPAIGN

Griffin said Harris decision to appear on Colbert was like “announcing your exploratory committee on the sinking deck of the Titanic.”

CNN data analyst Harry Enten dismissed Harris’ comments during the interview about a broken system

“Recently, I made the decision that I just – for now, I don’t want to go back in the system. I think it’s broken,” Harris told Colbert after he asked about her declining a potential California gubernatorial run.

“I just can‘t possibly believe that someone who was attorney general for a good period of time, a United States senator for a good period of time, and then vice president for four years and then ran for president, all of a sudden believes that the best way to solve it is from being outside the system. Oh, please. Not a chance on God‘s green earth that that’s necessarily the case,” Enten said, reacting to Harris’ remarks.

CNN PANEL SHREDS HARRIS’ COLBERT INTERVIEW FOR HER LACK OF SOLUTIONS AFTER ‘SIX MONTHS TO FIGURE IT OUT’

“What‘s probably going on is she saw what the polling numbers were, perhaps for her running for governor of California. Yes, she has left open the idea that maybe she could run in 2028 for the Democratic nomination. But I‘ll tell you Abby, I‘ve looked at those numbers. She would be the weakest front-runner since 1992. So the bottom line is this, she is looking at the numbers. She knows what‘s cooking. And then all of a sudden, you know what? Actually, this lifelong politician, I want to be outside the system. Give me a break,” the CNN data analyst added.

Harris announced on Thursday she would be releasing a book on her failed 2024 campaign.

Harris, in a video posted to social media on Thursday, announced that her new book, titled “107 Days,” will be released in September and will provide details on what she calls “the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.”

“I believe there’s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward,” Harris said.

Dave Edmunds has been hospitalized after suffering a major cardiac arrest.

On July 29, the Welsh singer-songwriter’s wife, Cici Edmunds, took to Facebook to detail the moment her husband of 40 years “died” in her arms before medical professionals miraculously resuscitated him.

“Dave Edmunds. My beloved husband of 40 years has had a major cardiac arrest as I told you about in my previous post. He died in my arms while I desperately tried to keep him alive while trying to clear his airways from all of the fluids that come out of a human being’s body when we pass away,” she wrote.

“As I’m on the floor with Dave dead and lots of fluid is coming out of his mouth and the other places in his body. I keep my emotions in check, even though I’m absolutely heartbroken and terrified at the shock of having my beloved husband dead in my arms,” she continued. “My nurse is also on the floor right next to myself and Dave pumping away really hard performing heavy CPR.”

Though a nurse informed her Dave was “gone,” Cici said she refused to “give in or give up on a miraculous intervention, anything to get my husband back alive.”

Cici said the nurse kept performing CPR on Dave, per her wishes.

“Every second is vital,” she said. “So no time for emotions here.”

Cici, who has been in the hospital herself for various health issues according to her Facebook page, said she’s still in “shock” from the “horrific” experience that unfolded.

“My brilliant talented funny and special Dave could really use as many people’s prayers and good wishes so to speak,” she wrote. “As I told you all in my previous post by a miracle they ( the doctors at the ICU operating room, intubated Dave after a miracle resurrecting him for a moment.”

“He very clearly has brain damage and severe memory loss etc. And the risk of yet another major cardiac arrest is high. And if that occurs there is no chance for Dave,” she continued.

Cici thanked all those sending well-wishes and said Dave will have a “very long journey ahead of him if he survives.”

“We both have. But knowing that there are kind-hearted people such as you all. Makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always,” she concluded.

Throughout his career, Dave performed in various bands but got his big break with rock band Love Sculpture in the 1960s.

In the 1970s, Dave released his first solo album, “Rockpile which included various covers such as Dave Bartholomew’s “I Hear You Knocking” and Bob Dylan’s “Outlaw Blues.”

A representative for Dave did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Cincinnati beatdown victim reveals ‘very bad brain trauma’ in first remarks since viral assault

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

One of the victims in the viral Cincinnati brutal beatdown is speaking out to reveal the extent of her injuries, one week after bystander footage captured the moment she was thrown to the ground while reportedly trying to break up the fight.

The woman, identified as Holly, can be seen with visible injuries to her face as she speaks to the camera to provide an update on her condition.

“It’s been very, very hard, and I’m still recovering,” Holly said in a video posted online. “I still have very bad brain trauma.”

FOURTH ARREST ANNOUNCED AS INVESTIGATION INTO VIOLENT CINCINNATI BRAWL CONTINUES

“I just want to say thank you so much to everyone for all of the love and support. It is very humbling that you have sent your prayers, your blessings. It’s definitely what’s keeping me going, and you have just brought back faith and humanity.”

Holly declined Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Holly is one of six victims injured in the July 26 brawl, where she was knocked unconscious on the corner of Elm and Fourth Streets. So far, authorities have arrested four of the six alleged assailants, as a fugitive unit is ‘actively pursuing’ the two additional suspects.

Jermaine Matthews, 39, Dominique Kittle, 37, Montianez Merriweather, 34, and Dekyra Vernon, 24, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the fight. As of Sunday, Kittle, Merriweather and Vernon remain in custody at the Hamilton County Jail, with Matthews posting bond last week.

Matthews is charged with two counts of felonious assault, one count of misdemeanor assault and one count of aggravated riot. Both Merriweather and Vernon are charged with felonious assault, aggravated riot and assault charges. Kittle is charged with one count of assault.

New footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows the moments leading up to the fight, with one of the victims allegedly yelling a racial slur at the group before the violence broke out.

I did see other fights going on, it was just one of those deals where you got people out drinking and I’m pretty sure drinking had a lot to do with that fight,” Jay Black told Fox News Digital. “But it’s very unfortunate for the young lady. I pray for her and her family, she was just trying to help out.”

Black insisted that, “contrary to what people think,” there were “a lot of people” who attempted to intervene.

Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge revealed that out of the approximately 100 people who witnessed the incident or were involved in the brawl, only one individual called law enforcement.

“Trust me when I say this, had the Cincinnati Police Department been notified in real time, our officers would have responded with urgency and force to protect life,” Theetge said at the news conference on Friday.

However, Holly’s tearful statement ended with a heartfelt note to those who were sending their well wishes after seeing the shocking footage.

God bless you all, thank you,” Holly said. “I appreciate everything that you’re doing for me and my family. It’s been very, very hard and I’m still recovering.”

Military forced to deploy flares as multiple aircraft breach Trump’s weekend retreat

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Fighter jets scrambled to intercept a civilian aircraft on Sunday after it entered restricted airspace over Trump’s Bedminster retreat.

The pilot flew into a temporary flight restriction (TFR) zone at about 12:50 p.m. ET, according to a statement from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

The civilian aircraft was escorted out of the area by NORAD aircraft after using flares to draw the pilot’s attention.

NORAD said the intercept was the second of the day, noting that another aircraft had entered the TFR zone. In total, there were five unauthorized incursions over the weekend.

The second instance, NORAD said, involved flares, which may have been visible to the public.

NORAD added that flares “are employed with the highest regard for the safety of the intercepted aircraft and people on the ground.”

The flares also burn out quickly and completely, NORAD said, so there is no danger to those on the ground when dispersed.

Officials are warning private pilots to do their homework before takeoff.

“General aviation pilots are reminded to verify all Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs) and Fly Informed before every flight; in the instance of the Bedminster, New Jersey region, specifically FAA NOTAMs 9839, 9840, 9841 and 9842,” NORAD said.

NORAD has stressed during previous instances how important it is for North American flight safety for pilots to avoid violating TFR.

“All pilots must familiarize themselves with updates to restricted airspace, including reviewing new and existing FAA NOTAMs that impact their flight plans and activities,” NORAD has stated. “Adhering to FAA restricted airspace protocols is mandatory, regardless of geographical region, airframe, or aircrew.”

Less than a week after a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake sparked tsunami warnings throughout the Pacific Ocean, a volcano in far eastern Russia, on Sunday, spewed hot ash miles into the sky, marking the first time in hundreds of years the geological feature had erupted.

The Krasheninnikov volcano, located on Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula, sent ash 6 kilometers, or 3.7 miles, into the sky, staff at the Kronotsky Reserve said.

Images of the volcanic eruption, which occurred on the Kronotsky Reserve, were released by Russian state media and showed dense clouds of ash rising above the volcano.

“The plume is spreading eastward from the volcano toward the Pacific Ocean,” Kamchatka’s emergencies ministry wrote on Telegram during the eruption. “There are no populated areas along its path, and no ashfall has been recorded in inhabited localities.”

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake accompanied the eruption, prompting a tsunami warning for three areas of Kamchatka.

Russia’s Ministry for Emergency Services later lifted the tsunami warning.

“This is the first historically confirmed eruption of the Krasheninnikov volcano in 600 years,” Olga Girina, head of the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team, told Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

But according to the U.S.-based Smithsonian Institution’s Global Volcanism Program, Krasheninnikov last erupted in 1550, or 475 years ago.

The reason behind the discrepancy was not immediately clear.

Trump claims Bureau of Labor Statistics head inflated job numbers by nearly 1M

President Trump on Sunday accused the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) of inflating job numbers to an “all-time high” prior to the U.S. presidential election, just days after announcing her firing.

“Head of the Bureau of of[sic] Labor Statistics did the same thing just before the Presidential Election, when she lifted the numbers for jobs to an all time high,” Trump said in a post to his Truth Social account Sunday afternoon. “I then won the Election, anyway, and she readjusted the numbers downward, calling it a mistake, of almost one million jobs.”

WHITE HOUSE ECONOMIST BACKS TRUMP FIRING LABOR STATS HEAD, HITS ‘PARTISAN PATTERN’ IN JOBS DATA: ‘PROPAGANDA’

In the post, the President also alleged that the “miscalculations” of BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer were the most significant in more than half a century.

“A SCAM!” Trump continued. “She did it again, with another massive “correction,” and got FIRED! She had the biggest miscalculations in over 50 years.”

The post follows just days after Trump lashed out at the Bureau of Labor Statistics and said he would fire McEntarfer after the U.S. economy added fewer jobs than expected in July and large downward revisions were made in the prior two months — suggesting the economy and labor market are weaker than previously believed.

TRUMP ORDERS TERMINATION OF LABOR STATISTICS OFFICIAL AFTER JOBS REPORT AND DOWNWARD REVISIONS

Trump similarly accused McEntarfer of falsifying job numbers prior to the U.S. presidential election.

“I was just informed that our Country’s ‘Jobs Numbers’ are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics, who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala’s chances of Victory,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Friday.

TRUMP SLAMS POWELL AS ‘MORON’ AND CALLS FOR FED’S BOARD TO TAKE CONTROL OF POLICY MOVES

Earlier Sunday, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett backed Trump’s decision to fire McEntarfer, citing an alleged “partisan pattern” in U.S. job data reporting.

The BLS reported on Friday that 74,000 jobs were added in July, well below the 110,000 estimate of economists polled by LSEG. The report also revised job growth in May and June downward. May’s gains were pared back by 125,000 to just 19,000 jobs created, while the June figures were revised down by 133,000 to just 14,000 jobs added that month.

NFL legend Tom Brady sparks unretirement rumors with cryptic social media post

Tom Brady did it once, so why not again?

The legendary NFL quarterback couldn’t help himself when seeing a league Instagram post that displayed his statistics over his three decades playing.

The post read “Tom Brady By The Decade,” showing his 20s, 30s and 40s.

“50’s coming soon?” Brady captioned a post on his Instagram Stories with looking-eyes and laughing emojis.

He turned 48 on Sunday.

Brady is likely not serious about unretiring for the second time, but you truly never know with the one many consider to be the best quarterback of all time.

STEELERS’ AARON RODGERS SAYS HE’S ‘PRETTY SURE’ THIS SEASON WILL BE HIS FINAL ONE

Since retiring for good for the second time, Brady became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders in October 2024. While he wasn’t suiting up, he did attend the team’s training camp practice on Friday, where he was seen talking with players like tight end Brock Bowers, running back Raheem Mostert and more.

As a minority owner, it’s unknown just what capacity Brady is playing for the Raiders. But he was seen speaking with Raiders general manager John Spytek, who is serving in his first season with the team. Spytek and Brady have history with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers together.

Brady also still serves as a FOX NFL broadcaster alongside veteran announcer Kevin Burkhardt.

“Tom is somebody that for many years I didn’t like very much,” majority owner Mark Davis said jokingly in October when Brady joined the ownership group. “He did admit that it was a fumble [Tuck Rule game]. So those are important aspect of the situation. We’re just really proud to have him as a partner. He’s a competitor. He’s a bright young man.

Davis added that he believes Brady can “help us select a quarterback in the future and potentially train as well.” The Raiders traded for veteran Geno Smith this offseason to pair again with Pete Carroll, who came out of retirement to take over in Sin City.

As for Brady’s stats across his 23-season career, he totaled the most passing yards of any quarterback to play football with 89,214. Only New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees is remotely close at 80,358.  He also has the most career passing touchdowns with 649.

Considering how hard it is to sustain a 23-year career, many believe Brady’s numbers won’t be touched by players now and into the future.

Whether he wants to add to them remains to be seen for the 48-year-old future Hall of Famer.

Sprint stars clash after 200M race as Noah Lyles demands ‘apology’ from Kenny Bednarek

Noah Lyles took the 200-meter final at the U.S. track and field championships, but there was some tension after the race with Kenny Bednarek, the sprinter who finished just behind him.

Bednarek shoved Lyles, who was looking back at him after crossing the finish line, and the two immediately got into that tense moment as Lyles was seen shouting something at Bednarek.

Bednarek went to go shake Lyles’ hand, but the latter didn’t budge as he stared him down. Bednarek was seen explaining something to Lyles, who seemed to say to him “I expect my apology,” before they separated.

The crowd didn’t initially see the shove, but when video replay showed it on the Jumbotron at the track in Eugene, Oregon, a loud reaction occurred.

This is a rivalry between Lyles and Bednarek, the latter of whom finishing with silver in the 200-meter at the Paris Olympics. Lyles finished with bronze in what’s expected to be his best event given his victory over Bednarek at the 2024 U.S. Olympic trials.

Lyles, who had already won the 100-meter gold, was hoping to be crowned the 200-meter champion, cementing himself as the fastest man in the world. Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo won that race in Paris, marking the country’s first-ever Olympic gold medal.

OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST NOAH LYLES CALLS OFF SPEED SHOWDOWN AGAINST TYREEK HILL, CITES ‘PERSONAL REASONS’

But while Lyles is a three-time world champion who one expects to win every race he steps into the starting blocks for, Bednarek hadn’t lost once on the male sprinter circuit this year.

So, after besting Bednarek down the stretch, Lyles knew exactly what he was doing looking back his competition’s way. Bednarek was clearly frustrated in the moment with the shove and Lyles, arms out wide and barking back, added fuel to this rivalry that will surely be seen on the world stage next month in Tokyo.

During their post-race interview together, the tension was still high as they were going back and forth with each other.

“You’re right,” Lyles said to Bednarek.

“I expected a call,” Bednarek said back to him. “I’m telling you, if you’ve got a problem, I expected a call. That’s all I’m saying.”

“You know what? You’re right,” Lyles responded. “Let’s talk after this.”

As the interview began, it was hard not to ask what the verbal altercation was about, though Bednarek saying that he wouldn’t say anything out on the track.

“But we’ve got something to do and talk about. That’s all I’ve got to say,” he said.
