Radio host out of job after behind-the-scenes bombshell about Biden interview
WURD, a Philadelphia-based Black-owned radio station, has parted ways with its host after she revealed that the White House provided her with a list of pre-determined questions prior to her interview with President Biden last week.
Andrea Lawful-Sanders admitted during a CNN interview Saturday that that Biden’s team sent her eight questions to ask ahead of his interview on “The Source” last Wednesday. Lawful-Sanders said she “approved” four of the questions and used them during her sit-down with the president, which marked his first interview following his disastrous debate performance last month.
The questions centered around Biden’s accomplishments, debate performance, progress in both Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, what’s at stake in the election, and what he would say to voters who are considering not voting in the presidential election.

On Sunday, WURD’s president and CEO, Sara M. Lomax, announced that Lawful-Sanders and WURD have “mutually agreed to part ways,” emphasizing that “WURD Radio is not a mouthpiece for the Biden or any other admin.”
“On July 3, the first post-debate interview with President Joe Biden was arranged and negotiated independently by WURD Radio host Andrea Lawful-Sanders without knowledge, consultation or collaboration with WURD management,” Lomax said in a statement on Sunday.
“The interview featured pre-determined questions provided by the White House, which violates our practice of remaining an independent media outlet accountable to our listeners. As a result, Ms. Lawful-Sanders and WURD Radio have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately,” she added.
Lomax said WURD has remained an independent voice in radio and that agreeing to a pre-approved list of questions “jeopardizes” the trust its audience has placed in them for 20 years to “hold elected officials accountable.”
“This is something we take very seriously,” her statement reads.
“This practice of de-legitimizing Black voices continues today. WURD Radio is not a mouthpiece for the Biden or any other Administration. Internally, we will commit to reviewing our policies, procedures, and practices to reinforce WURD’s independence and trust with our listeners. But mainstream media should do its own introspection to explore how they have lost the trust of so many Americans, Black Americans chief among them.”

Lawful-Sanders’ show page has been removed from WURD’s website as of Sunday afternoon.
Her departure comes shortly after a second local radio host who interviewed Biden in the days following the presidential debate admitted that he received the questions beforehand. In statements given to ABC News, Wisconsin radio station host Earl Ingram confirmed that he was given five questions to ask Biden during their recent chat and wasn’t able to get through all of them before the interview ended.
CNN’s Blackwell told Lawful-Sanders that he listened to both interviews and said the questions were “essentially the same” in both. Both radio show appearances were branded as an opportunity for Biden to prove to voters that he is capable of answering pointed questions and defending his record after his debate performance raised serious concerns about his mental competency and has resulted in mounting calls for him to drop out of the race.
Biden campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt defended the practice of sending questions prior to interviews in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“It’s not at all an uncommon practice for interviewees to share topics they would prefer. These questions were relevant to news of the day – the president was asked about this debate performance as well as what he’d delivered for black Americans,” she said. “We do not condition interviews on acceptance of these questions, and hosts are always free to ask the questions they think will best inform their listeners. In addition to these interviews, the President also participated in a press gaggle yesterday as well as an interview with ABC. Americans have had several opportunities to see him unscripted since the debate.”
Lawful-Sanders did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Rubio points out problem with potential Harris-Newsom ticket as Biden reels
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., pointed to a problem with a potential Kamala Harris-Gavin Newsom ticket on Sunday as President Biden reels from calls to drop out of the race.
Rubio, who is reportedly among the top contenders being considered as former President Trump’s vice presidential pick, was confronted during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” on whether he’d move out of Florida or resign his U.S. Senate seat if he does become the running mate.
CNN host Dana Bash pointed to how the U.S. Constitution says presidential electors cannot vote for a president and a vice president who are both from the same state. Rubio and Trump are both residents of Florida.
“That’s presumptuous … I have no idea who he’s going to pick,” Rubio said. “But I think it’s comforting for Americans to know that when Kamala Harris becomes their nominee, she can’t pick [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom because I don’t think we can afford, as a country, to have two Californians with their crazy policies become the law of the land.”

But as far as making an announcement, that’s up to him and their campaign, and I don’t have one for you this morning, that’s for sure,” Rubio said.

Daughter of rock legend snubbed from Paris Olympics despite medal win in Tokyo
Jessica Springsteen, the equestrian daughter of legendary rock star Bruce Springsteen, is not going to be representing the United States again in this year’s Olympics despite doing so in Tokyo in 2021.
USA Equestrian revealed its jumping team for the Paris Olympics on Saturday afternoon, and Springsteen wasn’t on it.
Instead, veteran riders Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut and McLain Ward were in the three spots, with Karl Cook named as the team’s alternate.

Springsteen, 32, was with Kraut and Ward at the Toyko Olympics, helping them collect a silver medal to mark the fourth medal in the past five Olympics for the Americans in the event. Springsteen was riding her 12-year-old stallion named Don Juan van de Donkhoeve.
She was tracking to make the team this year, being named one of 10 on the U.S. Jumping Team’s short list for the Olympics in April. U.S. Equestrian said in a press release at the time that those 10 athletes would be “chosen for continued observation.”

However, Springsteen’s status in rankings didn’t match up with where she was three years ago.
According to the International Federation of Equestrian Sports’ official website, Springsteen is ranked 127th in the world after being 14th in 2021.
Farrington (6th), Ward, (15th), Kraut (35th) and Cook (23rd) are all much higher in the rankings than Springsteen.
Springsteen expressed the desire to keep competing with hopes of reaching the Olympics during an interview in May with Harper’s Bazaar.
“Tokyo 2020 was such an incredible experience, but because of that year and all the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, you know, you couldn’t have your family and your friends there,” Springsteen explained. “So I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I would love to go to another Olympics and be able to share that with my family, who’ve been so supportive of my career for so many years.’”

Her father actually had a two-week block in his touring schedule set aside during the Olympics. And though that’s not officially the reason behind the tour break, one would think it worked perfectly for Springsteen to see his daughter if she made the team.

Brad Pitt arrived hand in hand with girlfriend Ines de Ramon at the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
Pitt wore a light-yellow zip-up jacket with light trousers and accessorized his look with a houndstooth bucket hat and aviator sunglasses.
De Ramon wore a pale blue long sleeved dress with a chic bag, sunglasses with a long, gold necklace completing her look.
The 60-year-old actor has been at the four-day event all weekend, but this is the first day he and de Ramon have been photographed there together.

Filming for “F1” has taken place at several racing events, including last year’s British Grand Prix, according to Variety. Pitt’s fictional team in the film, APXGP, also had a full hospitality suite in the paddock at this year’s event.
“Top Gun” director Joseph Kosinski directs the film, with Pitt and Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

A far-left political coalition that unexpectedly assembled ahead of France’s snap elections is projected to win the plurality of parliamentary seats up for grabs and the country’s prime minister has announced his intention to resign – leading the country into unforeseen territory and possible turmoil.
As the election results came in, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced he will be turning in his resignation on Monday.
President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist alliance was projected to take the second most seats, while the far right was projected to come in third.
Macron called the snap election just four weeks ago, after the right-wing National Rally (RN) scored enormous success in the European Parliamentary elections in June. Polling before the first round of voting indicated RN would continue to dominate. However, more recent polling ahead of the runoff indicates those returns have diminished and RN will fall short of a clear majority.

GOP rep calls on ‘The 51’ to be prosecuted for alleged Hunter Biden laptop coverup
Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., took aim at a group of intelligence officials responsible for signing a letter that sought to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story on the eve of the 2020 election.
“The 51 should all be prosecuted for knowingly pushing a false statement,” Tenney said in a post on X Sunday. “See 18 U.S.C. § 1001, it’s a felony crime to: make a ‘false statement’ to an agent of the federal government related to a federal matter.”
“The 51” in Tenney’s post refers to 51 former top intel officials who signed on to a letter claiming that the laptop at the center of a New York Post report just weeks before the 2020 election bore all the hallmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign, a document that was later used by President Biden to shrug off concerns over the device in a debate with former President Trump. It was later revealed that the laptop was real, even eventually being entered as evidence in Hunter Biden’s federal gun trial.

“A careful and objective reading of the document reflects that even today its content is accurate,” the attorney, Mark S. Zaid, said. “It served as nothing more than a warning letter of what we have known for decades: certain foreign governments – including Russia – continue to try and actively interfere in our domestic affairs and our guard must remain vigilant. Every patriotic American should have signed that letter.”
But Tenney shared a different view, arguing that the 51 should be prosecuted under 18 U.S.C. § 1001, which states that anyone “within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States” who “falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact,” or “makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation,” or “makes or uses any false writing or document knowing the same to contain any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry” could face fines or a prison sentence of up to five years.

Beryl targets US, threatens not only coastal areas but also landlocked states
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Beryl is only hours away from making landfall along Texas’ Gulf Coast, where it’s expected to bring damaging winds, life-threatening storm surge, flooding rains and even the threat of tornadoes. Landfall is forecast for early Monday morning as the storm becomes better organized and is expected to intensify back into a hurricane late on Sunday.
Beryl’s outer bands lashed the state Sunday as Texans worked to finish their last-minute preparations.
“We’re keeping a close eye right now for any waterspouts or tornadoes developing with those outer rain bands,” National Weather Service Corpus Christi Meteorologist Eric Forinash said on Sunday afternoon.
Numerous Hurricane Warnings, Storm Surge Warnings and Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for the Texas Gulf Coast. A Hurricane Warning means hurricane conditions with sustained winds of 74 mph or greater are expected within the next 36 hours. Galveston is under a Hurricane Watch as Beryl barrels closer.
In addition to the damaging wind threat, a dangerous storm surge and a foot of rain or more are possible through the early half of the week.

Beryl remains a tropical storm, having lost some of its energy after crossing Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula on Friday morning. Conditions will become extremely favorable for Beryl to strengthen back into a hurricane as it approaches the Texas coast.
“Further intensification is likely as Beryl moves over very warm waters within light shear conditions,” the National Hurricane Center said. “Rapid intensification is a distinct possibility if the core can become isolated from the dry air that has been inhibiting intensification during the last day or so.”
Rapid intensification, when winds strengthen at least 35 mph in 24 hours or less, is possible ahead of landfall. The NHC said Texans should prepare for the possibility of a Category 2 hurricane landfall.
A dangerous storm surge of up to 6 feet is expected to impact a wide swath of the Texas coast by Sunday night into Monday, while torrential rains that total as much as 10–15 inches threaten flash and urban flooding – some of which could be considerable. Beryl’s powerful hurricane-force winds could lead to power outages and property damage.

The weather is expected to rapidly deteriorate on Monday morning from Brownsville to Houston, and preparations should be completed for a hurricane to make landfall later in the day.
“This is going to be a very challenging system to deal with because it’s so disorganized now, and it’s going to look disorganized as it approaches the coast, and it’s harder to get people motivated to take action,” said FOX Weather Hurricane Specialist Bryan Norcross. “But we have a situation where it could intensify significantly (Sunday) as it’s approaching the coast like right offshore.”

A Storm Surge Warning is also in effect from Padre Island to High Island, including Corpus Christi Bay, Matagorda Bay and Galveston Bay.

Storm Surge models indicate a water rise of 3–7 feet is possible from Baffin Bay to Sargent, along with Corpus Christi Bay and Matagorda Bay, starting as early as Sunday night and lasting into Monday.

“The deepest water will occur along the immediate coast near and to the right of the center, where the surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves,” the NHC warned. “Surge-related flooding depends on the relative timing of the surge and the tidal cycle and can vary greatly over short distances.”
How much rain is expected in Texas from Beryl?

Much of East Texas should brace for several inches of rain from Beryl. Wide swaths of 5-10 inch accumulations, with localized amounts up to 15 inches, are expected across portions of the Texas Gulf Coast and eastern Texas from Sunday through the middle of the week.
“This rainfall is likely to produce areas of flash and urban flooding, some of which may be locally considerable in nature,” the NHC warned.
The Houston area is currently forecast to receive 5-8 inches of rain, with heavier amounts in the southern and western suburbs.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in Corpus Christi, Texas, said any of the outer rain bands could also produce tropical storm-force gusts and even spin up an isolated tornado.
WHAT IS THE IKE DIKE?
Evacuation orders issued for some Texas communities
Cameron County, Texas, was one of the first in the state to issue voluntary evacuations.
Authorities advised those living in mobile homes and visitors staying in parks to seek more substantial shelter.
Nueces County issued similar orders and advised all visitors to leave by Sunday afternoon.
The counties were two of the 40 included in a disaster declaration signed by acting Texas Gov. Dan Patrick.
The Refugio County Office of Emergency Management issued a mandatory evacuation order, telling everyone to leave by 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
“Please take precautions to get your family and pets out of the county to a safe location,” the order stated.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is currently out of the country but is monitoring the situation.
Communities in low-lying areas and along the coast have already started to offer sandbags to residents, which will be available as long as supplies last.
