Children correct Jill Biden after she says ‘Happy Holidays’ — and social media goes wild
First lady Jill Biden was shouted down by children for wishing “Happy Holidays” instead of Christmas, sparking laughter and joy from commentators online.
On Friday, the first lady hosted the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign at the White House. She greeted everyone with “Happy Holidays,” to which multiple children shouted back with emphasis, “Happy Christmas!”
“Happy Christmas,” Biden replied. “Yes!”
“If you only remember one thing for the holidays, after all the wrapping paper is cleaned up, let it be this: You are loved,” she told attending military children during her remarks. “There are so many people who care about you, from your family and your friends, from your teachers and your classmates, to the president and me.”
She concluded with, “Merry Christmas and happy holidays.”
TRUMP, JILL BIDEN ATTEND NOTRE DAME REOPENING IN FRANCE WITH WORLD LEADERS
Commentators on X praised the children attending for correcting the first lady at the beginning of the event.
“Even kids get it,” former NCAA swimmer and OutKick host Riley Gaines wrote with a laughing emoji.
The Babylon Bee’s news counterpart, Not The Bee, said that “one kid shouted back what we are all thinking.”
Conservative communicator Steve Guest argued the incident was an “epic response” to “Jill Biden’s war on Christmas.”

“We are so back,” socially conservative Catholic group CatholicVote wrote with a cross emoji.
“THERE IS HOPE FOR THE FUTURE!” conservative show host David J. Harris Jr. cheered.

Left-wing nonprofit ripped to shreds for ‘journalism’ claim after email to Hegseth exposed
Left-wing nonprofit ProPublica is facing renewed scrutiny after an email exchange related to its recent unpublished story on Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth was released on Thursday.
A media firestorm began earlier this week when Hegseth revealed on X that ProPublica, which he called a “Left Wing hack group” was planning to publish a “knowingly false report” that he was not accepted by West Point in 1999. Attached to the post was a photo of Hegseth’s acceptance letter signed by West Point Superintendent Lieutenant General Daniel Christman, U.S. Army.
ProPublica editor Jesse Eisinger responded to the post, explaining that West Point public affairs had told the outlet twice that Hegseth hadn’t applied.
“We reached out,” Eisinger wrote. “Hegseth’s spox gave us his acceptance letter. We didn’t publish a story. That’s journalism.”
TIDE TURNS IN FAVOR OF TRUMP DOD PICK PETE HEGSETH AFTER MATT GAETZ FAILURE
After intense criticism from conservatives online, with some questioning why ProPublica did not press West Point on the inaccurate information and publish a story on that aspect, Eisinger posted a lengthy X thread outlining the steps ProPublica had taken researching the story claiming and touting how they “care about accuracy” and being “intellectually honest” and had given Hegseth a “fair chance to respond to all of the salient facts in the story.”
Questions about ProPublica’s journalistic standards intensified shortly afterward when Daily Caller published an email from reporter Justin Elliot reaching out to Hegseth’s lawyer, giving him an hour to respond to the allegation that he never went to West Point and asking, “Why did Mr. Hegseth say he got into West Point when that is not true?”
SAMUEL ALITO SLAMS PROPUBLICA AS ‘MISLEADING’ AHEAD OF REPORT ALLEGING CONFLICT OF INTEREST FROM SCOTUS BENCH
“How can Mr. Hegseth be Secretary of Defense given that he has made false statements about getting into the military’s most prestigious academy?” Elliot asked.
That email drew the ire of many on social media, who took issue with the accusatory tone of the email and the small window to respond to such a serious allegation, which suggested the story had already been completed without hearing Hegseth’s side.
“ProPublica did not contact Pete Hegseth to get the full story,” Red State writer Bonchie posted on X. “They contacted him to claim he was a liar while demanding a response within one hour not to offer his side, but to ask why he ‘lied’ and what else he ‘lied’ about.”
“This isn’t ‘journalism.’ It’s unethical garbage.”
“***Nothing*** in Jesse’s 11-tweet thread even hinted that ***this*** is how ProPublica actually approached the story— taking the falsehood from West Point, repeatedly asserting to Hegseth that he was a liar & implying he is unfit for SecDef, & giving him just one hour to respond,” journalist Jerry Dunleavy posted on X.
“ProPublica’s Editor-in-Chief claimed that they gave @PeteHegseth a fair chance to respond to the West Point story because they ‘care about accuracy,’” Trump 2024 Rapid Response Director Greg Price posted on X. “According to this unhinged email obtained by @reaganreese, they straight up accused him of being a liar and gave him a one hour deadline to respond.”
REPUBLICAN MILITARY VETS IN CONGRESS ARE ON A MISSION TO GET HEGSETH CONFIRMED
In a statement to Fox News Digital, a ProPublica spokesperson said, “Reporters do their job by asking tough questions to people in power, which is exactly what happened here. Responsible news organizations only publish what they can verify, which is why we didn’t publish a story once Mr. Hegseth provided documentation that corrected the statements from West Point.”
Fox News Digital reached out to West Point asking whether any disciplinary actions had been taken against the staffers for providing false information and why procedures had not been in place to prevent that kind of error.
West Point directed Fox News Digital to its previously issued statement.
“A review of our records indicates Peter Hegseth was offered admission to West Point in 1999 but did not attend. An incorrect statement involving Hegseth’s admission to the U.S. Military Academy was released by an employee on Dec. 10, 2024. Upon further review of an archived database, employees realized this statement was in error. Hegseth was offered acceptance to West Point as a prospective member of the Class of 2003. The academy takes this situation seriously and apologizes for this administrative error.”
In a letter to West Point this week, Republican Congressman Jim Banks wrote, “It is outrageous that West Point officials would so grossly interfere in a political process and make false claims regarding a presidential nominee.”
“Even in the unlikely scenario of OPA mistakenly making false claims not once but twice, it is an unforgivable act of incompetence that OPA did not make absolutely sure their information was accurate before sharing it with a reporter.”
This week’s ProPublica controversy comes after the nonprofit, which has received millions of dollars from liberal foundations, faced strong criticism for its reporting on conservative U.S. Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, which critics referred to as “hit pieces.”

“Journalistic inquiry into the private dealings of public officials is essential for our democracy. But honest inquiry applies the same standard to all people rather than single out those with whom one disagrees,” Gretchen Reiter, senior vice president of communications at Stand Together, told Fox News Digital last year regarding ProPublica’s reporting on Thomas.
ProPublica’s reporting on Alito prompted the justice to write a Wall Street Journal op-ed where he wrote, “ProPublica has leveled two charges against me: first, that I should have recused in matters in which an entity connected with Paul Singer was a party and, second, that I was obligated to list certain items as gifts on my 2008 Financial Disclose Report. Neither charge is valid.”
ProPublica stood by its reporting on Alito but acknowledged there are “lessons for ProPublica in this experience.”
Senior Trump official pinpoints the visit that put campaign on ‘trajectory to victory’
A top Team Trump official disclosed the moment that “really set the campaign on a trajectory to victory” – the day President-elect Donald Trump arrived in Columbiana County, Ohio, to survey the East Palestine train derailment.
“The ripples from that day do not get enough attention,” White House communications director-designate Steven Cheung said on X, formerly Twitter, in retweeting an op-ed making that assertion.
In February 2023, a Norfolk-Southern train hauling caustic industrial chemicals – including vinyl chloride – derailed in a small community near the Pennsylvania border, causing immediate chaos and long-lasting, widespread damage to the region.
A controlled burn held shortly after the derailment released toxic phosgene into the air.
WHISTLEBLOWER ALLEGES MISTAKES IN INITIAL EAST PALESTINE DISASTER RESPONSE
On February 23 – Ash Wednesday – Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, hosted Trump at the site, where the former and future president highlighted Americans “forgotten” by President Joe Biden – who had not yet shown up and would not visit for several more months.
The Republican mogul handed out “Trump”-branded water and met with local officials. Meanwhile, officials in both Ohio and Pennsylvania were also visibly working to hold the railroad accountable.
In his tweet, Cheung was responding to an op-ed by Pittsburgh-based Washington Examiner writer Selina Zito, who covered the crisis at the time.
Zito wrote that Trump’s arrival had happened at a political nadir for the Republican, following the 2022 midterm losses and amid a then-close presidential primary race with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
She noted in a tweet that it was Vance – his future running mate – who brought him to the site.
Trump’s mantra of “you are not forgotten” to Rust Belt residents too often forgotten by Washington helped change minds in the area, Zito wrote, quoting a local resident who said she had “switched parties because of the way he spoke directly to the concerns.”
“I have voted for him both times since then,” the woman, who owns an East Palestine farm, said.
TRUMP VISITS EAST PALESTINE, HANDS OUT TRUMP-WATER: ‘WE STAND WITH YOU’
Trump told residents that day that “in too many cases, your goodness and perseverance were met with indifference and betrayal.”
The disparity between Trump’s eagerness to “show up” and Biden’s apparent putting-off of a visit to East Palestine helped turn the tide in the Republican’s favor, the column continued.
“100%,” Cheung wrote in his tweet.
Trump’s former running mate, Mike Pence, also called out Biden at the time, saying he was “AWOL” and remarking to Fox News that the Delaware Democrat’s policies had “derailed the economy of East Palestine long before that train came through.”
On the Pennsylvania side of the line, both Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro and his then-former gubernatorial opponent, state Sen. Doug Mastriano, R-Gettysburg, also responded quickly to the derailment.

Shapiro lodged a criminal referral at the time, and Mastriano led hearings that hosted affected residents along the Ohio border wherein Norfolk-Southern CEO Alan Shaw notably no-showed.
“It is very disheartening to hear that these alleged delays and botched response approaches took place – especially since those in East Palestine, Ohio, and areas in my district here in Pennsylvania have been dealing with the aftermath of this derailment for over a year now,” state Sen. Elder Vogel Jr. told Fox News Digital at the time, after a whistleblower had spoken out about alleged mistakes from Biden’s EPA response – which the agency disputed.
Harvard president privately sends clear message to faculty after GOP’s election sweep
Harvard University president Alan M. Garber reportedly told faculty that they need to rethink their messaging following the Republican Party’s election sweep.
Garber reportedly described the sour mood in Washington, D.C. regarding higher education as the single greatest threat to the university in recent memory, the Harvard Crimson reported.
During a closed-door session of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences on Dec. 3, according to three anonymous faculty members, Garber said that since becoming president he has met with roughly 40 members of Congress during his six trips to Washington. He reportedly admitted there were “bipartisan frustrations with Harvard and acknowledged that he believes the criticisms contain elements of truth,” according to the Crimson.
The Crimson reported Garber saw last month’s election results as an “anti-elite repudiation by the American electorate,” and said Harvard “must listen to public criticism with ’empathy and humility.'”
HARVARD IDENTITY-BASED GRADUATIONS EXCLUDED JEWS IN NOW-DELETED WEBPAGE AS ANTISEMITISM CLAIMS PLAGUE SCHOOL
He admitted Harvard’s communications strategy has not worked as well as its leaders originally thought. However, Garber did not provide details on how Harvard would modify its messaging going forward.
“Garber’s conciliatory tone suggests he intends to take a diplomatic approach — rather than a defiant one — as he interacts with an incoming presidential administration that has Harvard in its crosshairs,” The Crimson reported.
A Harvard spokesperson, Jason A. Newton, did not get into specifics about the meeting, but told Fox News Digital in a statement, “The University will continue to engage in Washington and with federal leaders to make the case for the partnership between the government and universities that supports students, vital research and innovation that fuel economic growth, as well as improvements in health and wellbeing.”
HARVARD WAS RANKED LAST FOR FREE SPEECH. HERE’S WHAT THE STUDENTS ARE SAYING
At the meeting, vice president for public affairs and communications Paul Andrew reportedly detailed what he believes are the key legislative threats to Harvard, including the endowment tax, congressional probes and threats to federal research funding.
Trump nominated Harmeet K. Dhillon to lead the Justice Department’s civil rights division this week, but given her outspoken position against Ivy League schools’ failure to combat antisemitism, schools like Harvard are on guard about the administration’s potential policies.

In addition, Trump’s pick to lead the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, is considering linking a university’s likelihood of receiving research grants to a ranking or measure of academic freedom on campus, the Wall Street Journal reported.
For the second year in a row, Harvard University earned the lowest ranking among 251 colleges and universities for its free speech climate, according to the survey conducted by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE).

Accused Ivy League killer did not flee New York City as originally believed
The suspect accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson earlier this month in New York City fled Manhattan via train and not by bus as originally thought, according to reports.
Luigi Mangione was charged with murder after he allegedly shot Thompson the morning of Dec. 4 as Thompson was walking into the Hilton in Midtown Manhattan.
After the shooting, Mangione, 26, was on the run and was caught five days later in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
UNITEDHEALTHCARE CEO MURDER SUSPECT LUIGI MANGIONE’S GRANDMOTHER LEFT MILLIONS TO FAMILY – EXCLUDING FELONS
Investigators first thought Mangione had taken a bus out of the city because he was seen on surveillance video at the George Washington Bridge bus station. Now, they think he took the subway from the bus station to Penn Station and bought a train ticket to Pennsylvania before he was caught, CBS News and ABC News reported, citing police sources.
Mangione is being held at a prison in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition to New York.
He was denied bail Tuesday.
Authorities arrested Mangione at a McDonald’s in Altoona, where he allegedly presented local police with a fake ID and appeared to start shaking when they asked if he had been in New York recently.
Officials also found a handwritten manifesto condemning the health care industry, as NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny previously told Fox News. The manifesto specifically mentioned UnitedHealthcare.
UNITEDHEALTHCARE CEO MURDER SUSPECT HAS OUTBURST OUTSIDE PENNSYLVANIA COURTHOUSE
In New York, Mangione faces one count of murder, two counts of second-degree criminal weapons possession, one count of second-degree possession of a forged document and one count of third-degree criminal weapons possession.
In Pennsylvania, he faces one count of forgery, one count of carrying a gun without a license, one count of tampering with records or identification, one count of possession of instruments of a crime and one count of presenting false ID to law enforcement, according to court documents.
While officials have not commented on an official motive, the public has speculated that the suspect had strong grievances with both the health care industry and capitalism in general.

Woman accusing Jay-Z of sexual assault in 2000 admits to ‘inconsistencies’ in memory
Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sexual assault accuser has admitted to some “inconsistencies” in her recollection of the night of the alleged rape.
On Friday, the Alabama woman, known as Jane Doe, sat down with NBC News and admitted to making “some mistakes” when recounting allegedly being sexually assaulted by two rap moguls 24 years ago.
“I have made some mistakes,” the woman told the outlet. She maintains that the accusations she has made against Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, and Combs are true.
One of the “mistakes” Jane Doe made was claiming her father picked her up after the alleged sexual assault, but he doesn’t recall that, according to NBC News. The woman also claimed to have spoken to an unnamed celebrity at the after-party, where she claimed to have been sexually assaulted, but the celebrity has said that they weren’t in New York at the time of the event, per the outlet.
WATCH ON FOX NATION: WHAT DIDDY DO?
The unidentified woman ended up at a VMAs afterparty after attempting to gain entry to the awards show at Radio City Music Hall, according to court documents.
“I have made some mistakes.”
On Friday, Jay-Z shared a statement with the outlet and continued to shut down Jane Doe’s claims against him.
“This incident didn’t happen and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press,” Jay-Z said, referring to one of the woman’s attorneys, Tony Buzbee. “True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”
The lawsuit accuses Jay-Z and Diddy of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, Fox News Digital previously confirmed. Before Jay-Z was named, the rapper received a demand letter likely in an attempt to settle.
Buzbee shared a statement with the outlet and maintained that he would continue to fight for his client.
“Jane Doe’s case was referred to our firm by another, who vetted it prior to sending it to us,” he told the outlet in a statement. “Our client remains fiercely adamant that what she has stated is true, to the best of her memory. We will continue to vet her claims and collect corroborating data to the extent it exists. Because we have interrogated her intensely, she has even agreed to submit to a polygraph. I’ve never had a client suggest that before.
“In any event, we always do our best to vet each claim made, just as we did in this case. This has been extremely distressing for her, to the point she has experienced seizures and had to seek medical treatment due to the stress,” Buzbee concluded.
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, shared a statement with NBC News. “It is stunning that a lawyer would not only file such a serious complaint without proper vetting, but would make things worse by further peddling this false story in the press. We are asking the Court to dismiss this frivolous case today, and will take up the matter of additional discipline for Mr. Buzbee and all the lawyers that filed the complaint.”
Jay-Z’s attorney has called this lawsuit a “shameful money grab.” Buzbee has filed more than 20 lawsuits against Combs.
Fox News Digital reached out to Spiro and Buzbee for comment.
WATCH: JAY-Z ISSUES SCATHING DENIAL TO ALLEGATIONS HE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
The woman, who continues to refuse to be identified, told NBC why she decided to come forward with her story now. She accused Jay-Z and Combs of raping her when she was 13 and she is now 38.
“You should always fight for what happened to you,” she told the outlet. “You should always advocate for yourself and be a voice for yourself. You should never let what somebody else did ruin or run your life. I just hope I can give others the strength to come forward like I came forward.”
In the lawsuit, Jane Doe claimed to have been given a drink by a cocktail waitress at the VMAs after-party and “started feeling funny” and “tried to start looking for a place to lay down.”
Diddy, Jay-Z and an unidentified woman came into the room Jane Doe was lying down in. “You are ready to party!” she recalled Combs saying when entering the room, according to the lawsuit.
She then claimed that both Combs and Jay-Z raped her.
“Jay-Z comes over, holds me down. I start trying to push away. He puts his hand over my mouth, tells me to stop it, to cut the sh*t and and then he rapes me like he had me overpowered,” she said, per the lawsuit.
In the lawsuit, she claimed to have left the party immediately following the alleged assault.
“I was upset, and the person at the gas station could tell that I was obviously upset, and she let me use the phone. I called my dad because he was the only person I trust at that time. I told him I messed up and I needed a ride home,” Jane Doe told NBC News. “We rode home in silence. He didn’t ask me what happened. He didn’t ask me what I did or where I was.”

The unidentified woman told the outlet that she never told anyone about the alleged rape or wrote it down in a diary.
“Even if somebody found out, who was gonna believe me? I mean, it was to the word of two celebrities against mine,” she told the outlet.
Combs was first accused of raping a 13-year-old while celebrities watched in October. The lawsuit was filed in the Southern District of New York on Oct. 20 by Texas-based lawyer Buzbee on behalf of Jane Doe.
Diddy denied the allegations in a statement shared with Fox News Digital. Jay-Z was added to Jane Doe’s lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs on Dec. 8. The amended complaint, also filed by Tony Buzbee, named the rap mogul as “Celebrity A.”
In the new version of the lawsuit, the 13-year-old became disoriented and found a bedroom to rest in after allegedly consuming one drink. Jay-Z, Diddy and female “Celebrity B” seemingly followed the girl into the room. She “immediately recognized all three celebrities,” according to the court document.
After Jay-Z was identified in the lawsuit, he shared a statement on Roc Nation’s social media platform.
“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee,” the statement said “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle.

“No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”
On Dec. 9, Jay-Z’s lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, one day after he was publicly named.
Additionally, the rapper’s lawyer asked that the woman’s request to proceed anonymously be denied.
Jay-Z’s lawyers insisted the lawsuit was part of an “extortionate campaign” designed “to force payment of an exorbitant sum of money – [Jay-Z] would have to pay X millions of dollars irrespective of the truth, or else … “

“When [Jay-Z] refused to pay and instead took measures to establish his innocence, this unnamed Plaintiff and her self-promoting counsel (whose name has been splashed across headlines and press conferences under auspices of representing her) went to extraordinary lengths to shut down fair defense. But those efforts, too, failed,” court docs obtained by Fox News Digital read.
