Trump hikes India tariffs citing Ukraine war, alleged Russia oil scheme
President Donald Trump said Monday he was “substantially” increasing tariffs on India, accusing the country of essentially fueling the “Russian war machine.”
“India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits,” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. “They don’t care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian War Machine. Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!”
Trump announced last week that the U.S. would impose 25% tariffs on imports from India. At the time, the president described India as a “friend” but condemned the country as having the “most strenuous and obnoxious non-monetary” trade barriers. Trump also took issue with India purchasing the vast majority of its military equipment from Russia.
He decried how India and China are the largest buyers of Russian energy “at a time when everyone wants Russia to STOP THE KILLING IN UKRAINE.”
“INDIA WILL THEREFORE BE PAYING A TARIFF OF 25%, PLUS A PENALTY FOR THE ABOVE, STARTING ON AUGUST FIRST,” Trump warned last Wednesday.
On Thursday, Trump sharpened his tone toward India and hit back at former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev for warning about war with the United States.
“I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care,” Trump wrote on social media. “We have done very little business with India, their Tariffs are too high, among the highest in the World. Likewise, Russia and the USA do almost no business together. Let’s keep it that way, and tell Medvedev, the failed former President of Russia, who thinks he’s still President, to watch his words. He’s entering very dangerous territory!”
Medvedev had complained that Trump had shortened the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire deadline from 50 days to just 10 to 12 days, saying that the “ultimatum” was threat toward war “not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country.” Trump had cautioned Medvedev to “watch his words,” but the Russian official doubled down and referenced a Soviet-era nuclear doomsday device. In response, Trump said two nuclear submarines had been deployed “in the region” to counter Russia – a move the Kremlin has attempted to downplay as routine combat duty.
U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to visit Russia later this week ahead of the Friday deadline Trump gave Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the fighting in Ukraine.
Trump said last week that he had been informed that almost 20,000 Russian soldiers died this month “in the ridiculous War with Ukraine.”
According to the president, Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year, while Ukraine lost approximately 8,000 soldiers – a figure that doesn’t include those “missing.”
“That is a lot of unnecessary DEATH!” Trump wrote. “Ukraine has also lost civilians, but in smaller numbers, as Russian rockets crash into Kyiv, and other Ukrainian locales. This is a War that should have never happened — This is Biden’s War, not ‘TRUMP’s.’ I’m just here to see if I can stop it!”
Senator refuses to endorse democratic socialist mayoral candidate when pressed
Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., refused to endorse New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani last week when pressed by CNN host Manu Raju.
“I‘m wondering if part of the issue with your party, do you think, is not embracing enough of the energy on the left flank of your party?” Raju said, pointing to Mamdani. “He’s the Democratic candidate, democratic socialist candidate there. Democratic leaders are not supporting him. Is that a problem? Do you support him?”
Mamdani, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral primary.
“So you and I are going to have this conversation, and I’m going to say to you one day, I told you so,” Booker responded. “This is not a left-right issue. It really isn‘t. It is an authoritarian, versus people who want pragmatic government that makes a difference in the lives of the American people. I‘m one of these people that says the lines that divide us in America are not nearly as strong as the ties that bind us.”
AOC-BACKED SOCIALIST MAYORAL CANDIDATE BACKTRACKS AFTER CALLING TO ‘DISMANTLE’ POLICE IN 2020
“Big corporations, people want to keep our eyes on the screen, want to pit us against each other and tell us how much we should hate each other,” he continued. “I‘m sorry, the left-right lens is not the right lens to look at this right now. Right now it is, can we get back to the pragmatic work of governing?”
Raju asked the senator again if he supported Mamdani.
“I have learned a long time ago, let New York politics be New York politics. We got enough challenges in Jersey. I got a governor‘s race, I’m supporting Mikie Sherrill. I got legislative races. That‘s where my energy is going to go, going into November. New York City, I love you. You’re my neighbor. You’re about 10 miles from where I live. You guys figure out your elections. I’m going to focus on mine,” Booker said.
Other prominent Democrats have also side-stepped or dodged questions about endorsing Mamdani, including Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., has criticized the progressive mayoral candidate as a “job-killing socialist.”
“You will hear no ambiguity out of my mouth,” Gottheimer said. “We do not need a job-killing socialist who wants to raise taxes and supports antisemitic rhetoric. Right? In a city with the highest taxes in the country and the largest Jewish population.”

Senator targets officials who ‘abuse offices’ with harsh new fraud penalties
FIRST ON FOX: A Senate Republican wants to crack down on public officials who use their position to grow their wealth.
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, is set to introduce legislation that would create stiffer penalties for public officials who commit federal bank fraud, tax fraud, or loan or mortgage fraud. Cornyn’s bill comes on the heels of two such instances where top officials and lawmakers were hit with allegations of mortgage fraud.
FEDERAL HOUSING OFFICIAL SUBMITTED SCHIFF CRIMINAL REFERRAL TO DOJ OVER MORTGAGE DOCUMENTS
Indeed, Cornyn’s Law Enforcement Tools to Interdict Troubling Investments in Abodes (LETITIA) Act is named for New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The Justice Department earlier this year opened an investigation into James, who successfully won a civil case last year against President Donald Trump and his Trump Organization over allegations of faulty business practices, for alleged mortgage fraud.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OPENS CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION INTO NY AG LETITIA JAMES
Federal Housing Finance Director Bill Pulte alleged in a letter that James could have engaged in mortgage fraud by making false or misleading statements on property records, like a loan application that said her property in Virginia is her primary residence, a building record stating her multifamily Brooklyn property incorrectly has five residences instead of four, and a mortgage application that falsely stated James was her father’s spouse.
“This legislation would empower President Trump to hold crooked politicians like New York’s Letitia James accountable for defrauding their constituents, violating their oath of office, and breaking the law, and I’m proud to lead my Republican colleagues in introducing it,” Cornyn said in a statement.
TAXPAYERS COULD BE FORCED TO FUND TRUMP FOE LETITIA JAMES’ LEGAL DEFENSE IF DEM BUDGET ITEM PASSES
Cornyn’s bill also comes after his colleague Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., was similarly hit with allegations of mortgage fraud.
In another letter to the Justice Department, Pulte charged that Schiff falsified bank documents and property records by listing homes in Maryland and California as his primary residence out of an effort to allegedly get more favorable loans.
The bill, which is so far co-sponsored by six Senate Republicans, would increase federal statutory maximum sentences and fines for public officials who abuse their offices and violate the public trust to commit bank fraud, loan or mortgage fraud, or tax fraud.

It would create new mandatory minimum sentences, including one year for bank fraud, one year for loan or mortgage fraud, and six months for tax fraud. And if a public official engages in a repeated pattern of offenses, minimum sentences increase to five years for bank or loan fraud and two years for tax fraud.
Fox News Digital reached out to James and Schiff for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Cincinnati business owners demand accountability after viral attack
Members of Cincinnati’s restaurant and hospitality industry issued a statement following a violent brawl that went viral on social media last week.
The statement was signed by 15 owners of multiple establishments, including Skyline Chili, the iconic Cincinnati-based chain.
“As members of Cincinnati’s restaurant and hospitality industry, we are heartbroken and outraged by the recent violent incident that occurred in our downtown core. The video circulating from that night is disturbing, and like many in this city, we are calling for accountability and decisive action,” the statement read.

“We are a united coalition—diverse in background, perspective, and political beliefs—but we stand together in condemning violence in any form. The safety of our guests, team members, and neighborhoods is nonnegotiable. It is a foundational expectation we all share.”
Videos of the brawl that occurred on the corner of Elm Street and Fourth Street in the early hours of July 26 sparked national outrage. In widely-circulated footage, a mob is seen attacking two people, and a woman — later identified as Holly — is knocked unconscious in the fray.
SHARK TANK’S O’LEARY WARNS ANTI‑ICE RIOTS DEVASTATING LA SMALL BUSINESSES
New footage emerged on Saturday in which a racial slur is heard, but it is unclear who is yelling it at whom as the violence begins to unfold.
Attorney Brandon Fox, who represents defendant Jermaine Matthews, told Fox News’ CB Cotton that “it was not a Black, racist mob attacking people. These were separate fights that were triggered by racial slurs that ultimately poured gasoline on the fire.”
While federal and local authorities are still investigating the situation, four arrests have been made in connection to the brawl.

In addition to Matthews, Montianez Merriweather, Dekyra Vernon and Dominique Kittle have also been arrested and are facing charges. Merriweather is facing one count of felonious assault, one count of misdemeanor assault and one count of aggravated rioting. His bond has been set at $500k total. Vernon is also facing charges of felonious assault, misdemeanor assault and aggravated rioting, but her bond total sits at $200k.
Meanwhile, Kittle, who is charged with aggravated rioting and misdemeanor assault, had his first court appearance on Saturday. His bond was set at $150k. Additionally, his attorney said on the record that Kittle suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
Media giant takes aim at ‘jaundiced’ California journalism with bold new venture
The New York Post Media Group will launch a new venture in 2026 called The California Post, the company announced on Monday.
The California Post will offer readers “a unique and indispensable combination of fearless, common-sense journalism, celebrity and entertainment news, world-class sports reporting and the legendary covers people expect from The New York Post—but from a distinctly Californian perspective,” according to the announcement.
“Los Angeles and California surely need a daily dose of The Post as an antidote to the jaundiced, jaded journalism that has sadly proliferated. We are at a pivotal moment for the city and the state, and there is no doubt that The Post will play a crucial role in engaging and enlightening readers, who are starved of serious reporting and puckish wit,” News Corp Chief Executive Robert Thomson said in a statement.
WAPO EDITORIAL MEMBER LEAVES OVER BEZOS’ ‘RELENTLESS PROMOTION OF FREE MARKETS AND PERSONAL LIBERTIES’
“I am also pleased that Keith Poole’s remit is expanding, as he will now be responsible for covering not just New York, but California, the U.S., the world and, perhaps, Mars,” Thompson continued.
The California Post, which will be headquartered in Los Angeles, will offer content that will appear across multiple platforms and formats, including mobile and desktop sites, video, audio, social media and a daily print edition.
“This is the next manifestation of our national brand,” Post editor-in-chief Keith Poole said.
“California is the most populous state in the country, and is the epicenter of entertainment, the AI revolution and advanced manufacturing—not to mention a sports powerhouse. Yet many stories are not being told, and many viewpoints are not being represented. With The California Post, we will bring a common-sense, issue-based approach to metropolitan journalism,” Poole continued. “We’ll tell the stories that our readers care about the most, but others overlook, and we’ll do so with clarity and our trademark conviction, across print, digital and the platforms where audiences live today.”

The California Post will operate as a separate entity under the New York Post Media Group and will launch in early 2026. NYPMG has appointed News Corp veteran Nick Papps as The California Post’s Editor-in-Chief.
“I am also thrilled to welcome Nick Papps to The Post family,” Poole said. “Nick has a keen sense for the stories that matter, an understanding of what makes Los Angeles tick and the ability to apply The Post’s unique voice to this vibrant market.”

Rod Stewart’s controversial Ozzy Osbourne tribute sparks debate among fans
Rod Stewart is catching some heat after sharing an AI-generated tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during his “One Last Time” tour.
Following Osbourne’s death on July 22, Stewart, 80, has been dedicating his classic hit, “Forever Young,” to the late rock legend during his shows. However, his most recent tribute – which featured AI visuals of Osbourne posing with late musicians such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Tina Turner, Bob Marley, Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, George Michael and Amy Winehouse – has sparked a debate among fans.
Some people on social media dubbed the tribute as “tacky” and “embarrassing,” with one person on X writing, “most distasteful thing I’ve seen.”
However, others have come to Stewart’s defense.

“If this is Rod’s way of showing respect to those people that passed away that’s his way. Everyone is gonna show respect their own way everyone is different everyone isn’t gonna do it the same way,” one fan wrote of the tribute, which was featured during his Atlanta, Georgia show on Friday.
“I mean, I’m sure they didn’t mean to hurt anyone, but it’s just weird,” another wrote.
“I think it’s pretty cool,” someone else noted.
OZZY OSBOURNE DEAD AT 76
According to Rolling Stone, at his show in Charlotte, N.C. a few days prior, Stewart ended the song, saying, “Very sad. A lot of those people died ’cause of drugs… I’m still here, though!”
Stewart posted a personal tribute to the late rock legend via Instagram on the day of Osbourne’s death.
“Bye, bye Ozzy. I’ll see you up there— later rather than sooner,” he wrote.

One day after thousands of fans flocked to the streets of Birmingham, England to bid farewell to Osbourne, close friends and family of the legendary rock star gathered to say their final goodbye in a private ceremony.
On Thursday, Ozzy – who died at 76 years old – was laid to rest in the grounds of his own mansion in Buckinghamshire, England.
According to The Daily Mail, the Black Sabbath frontman desired to be buried near a lake on his 250-acre property.
A huge floral tribute on the grounds of the mansion spelled out the words, ‘OZZY F—ING OSBOURNE’, on the banks of the Osbourne lake, according to the outlet.
Osbourne’s long-time guitarist Zakk Wylde, along with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson were among the guests who attended. Metallica frontman James Hetfield and Sir Elton John were also reportedly in attendance.

Last week, a procession of thousands walked the streets of Birmingham to honor the legendary rock star as the hearse and accompanying vehicles made their way to the Black Sabbath bridge and bench.
Sharon Osbourne and children Jack Osbourne and Kelly Osbourne put on a united front as they arrived at the celebration of life, hand in hand.
The hearse carrying Osbourne made its way down Broad Street to the Black Sabbath bench, which was unveiled on the Broad Street canal bridge in 2019.
In a “Dear Ozzy” column for The Times in 2011, Osbourne shared his wishes on what he hoped his future funeral would be like after a fan asked if it was “too morbid to plan your own funeral? Or is it a thoughtful gift for your surviving relatives?”

“I honestly don’t care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and We Are the Diddymen if it makes ’em happy,” Osbourne wrote. “But I do want to make sure it’s a celebration, not a mope-fest.”
“I’d also like some pranks: maybe the sound of knocking inside the coffin; or a video of me asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of ‘death,’” he continued. “There’ll be no harping on the bad times.”
“So to answer your question, yes, a bit of planning is the right thing to do for the family you leave behind,” he said. “It’s worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives. So by any measure, most of us in this country — especially rock stars like me — are very lucky.”

5 everyday food and drink choices silently damaging your long-term health, say experts
As more Americans turn to healthier options and substitutes when it comes to their daily diets, some everyday food and drink choices could be standing in the way of their health goals.
Fox News Digital spoke with three nutrition experts about everyday foods and drinks that are doing more harm than most people realize.
These daily treats range from habitual drinks to common snacks – and experts urge Americans to take a closer look at what they consume.
EXPERTS REVEAL HIDDEN WAYS SUGAR ACCELERATES AGING BEYOND JUST WEIGHT GAIN
See the culinary culprits below and the reasons for their inclusion on this list.
These are five worth noting.
1. Frozen meals
Microwave meals may be quick and convenient, but they often come with hidden health risks, according to Alma Simmons, a registered dietitian nutritionist at Ohio State University.
“Frozen meals also have levels exceeding half your total daily limit of sodium (salt), causing increased blood pressure, retention of water and possible kidney strain,” she told Fox News Digital.
HOMEMADE VS. PROCESSED FOODS: STUDY CHALLENGES WHAT WE THINK IS HEALTHIER
“In addition, most frozen meals contain unhealthy fats (saturated, trans), preservatives and additives linked to cardiovascular disease, inflammation and potentially carcinogenic nitrosamines.”
She also said that heating up certain plastics – even “microwave-safe” ones – can leach endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
Also, frozen meals are low in nutrients, said Julia Zumpano, an Ohio-based registered dietitian with Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Human Nutrition.
“[This] can lead to nutrient deficiencies if nutrient-dense foods are not consumed in combination with these meals,” she told Fox News Digital.
2. Diet sodas
It’s best to exercise caution against daily diet sodas, as they have the potential to harm the gut biome, said Simmons.
“The artificial sweeteners, like aspartame, used in diet sodas may interfere with gut microbiota and insulin sensitivity, though mechanisms are still debated,” she said.
EXPERTS SAY QUITTING DIET COKE CAN IMPROVE HEART HEALTH AND GUT BALANCE
Drinking diet soda is also just as harmful for your teeth as full-sugar soda, Simmons said.
“Due to acidity, tooth erosion and dental decay still occur with zero-sugar drinks,” she said.
Zumpano echoed Simmons’ advice, noting that diet sodas can still cause elevated triglycerides, blood sugars and weight gain.
“Diet drinks can negatively impact the gut microbiome and increase your cravings for sweets and carbs, therefore inhibiting weight loss or appetite control,” the nutritionist said.
3. Potato chips
The amount of salt, unhealthy fats and calories in chips makes them a poor choice for a daily treat, said Lauren Manaker, a registered dietitian based in South Carolina.
HEALTHY, SATISFYING ALTERNATIVES TO POTATO CHIPS: ‘YOU’LL ADJUST’
“Eating them daily can contribute to high blood pressure and make it harder to feel full, leading to overeating,” she said.
“Too much sodium can strain your heart and kidneys, while the lack of nutrients means they don’t provide lasting energy or satiety,” she also told Fox News Digital.
She recommended chips as an occasional treat – or swapping them for other salty snacks.
“Try alternatives like air-popped popcorn or roasted chickpeas for more nutrients,” Manaker advised.
4. Sweetened coffee drinks
Your sugary pre-work pick-me-up might bring you a lot of joy — but it can also raise serious health concerns.

Excess sugar in coffee can spike your blood sugar levels and leave you feeling tired later, Manaker warned.
“Drinks like flavored lattes or Frappuccinos can pack a surprising amount of added sugar, sometimes more than a dessert,” she said.
“Drinking them daily can lead to energy crashes and increase the risk of weight gain or insulin resistance over time.”
Instead, she suggested retraining your palate by going for unsweetened coffees – and saving the sugary versions as an occasional treat.
5. Alcohol
The hardest habit for some Americans to quit is drinking alcohol.
Daily alcohol consumption “can strain your liver, disrupt sleep and increase the risk of long-term health issues like high blood pressure and certain cancers,” said Manaker.
“Even small amounts can add up over time,” she said.
Its mood-disrupting qualities and empty calories make it a less-than-ideal daily habit – and Manaker encouraged limiting alcohol to a few days a week.

“Always pair it with water to stay hydrated,” she said.
“Or try a mocktail.”
Family ‘heartbroken’ as TV star Loni Anderson passes away after prolonged illness
Loni Anderson, who famously portrayed receptionist Jennifer Marlowe in the comedy “WKRP in Cincinnati,” has died. She was 79.
Anderson died at a Los Angeles hospital following a “prolonged” illness, her longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. She was surrounded by her loving family.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother,” Anderson’s family said in a statement.
Over four decades, Anderson starred in various TV shows and films, including “Swat,” “Three on a Date,” “Three’s Company,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “The Love Boat,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” and more.
LONI ANDERSON SAYS SHE MADE PEACE WITH BURT REYNOLDS BEFORE HIS DEATH: ‘THERE ARE LOTS OF MEMORIES THERE’
Growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, Anderson’s greatest ambition was to be an actress. In 1975, Anderson moved to Los Angeles, where she quickly began making a name for herself.
She landed the role of the titillating and intelligent Jennifer Marlowe in 1978 and cemented her status as a beloved TV sex symbol.
LONI ANDERSON REFLECTS ON BECOMING A SEX SYMBOL AFTER ‘WKRP IN CINCINNATI’ FAME: ‘I EMBRACE IT’
“I remember we all did posters back then. Everybody always asks me, ‘What made you do a poster?’ I would say, ‘Because someday my grandchildren will look at this. And I’ll be able to tell them that I really looked like that. What you saw is what you got,” she told Fox News Digital in 2021.
“But you know, I had this discussion with Ann-Margret. Will there ever be a time when our names won’t be followed by ‘bombshell’ or ‘sex symbol?’ It becomes a part of your name,” she continued. “And you know, I’d never thought I would reach that point. I was so serious. I was doing ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ for 53 weeks on tour. I never thought I would be Loni Anderson, sex symbol. But I embrace it. I think I was lucky enough to have been able to play so many different things and sex symbol was a part of it. I took whatever my career threw at me. So I embrace it. And my granddaughters think it’s a hoot!”
In 1982 she co-starred in “Stroker Ace,” a feature film with then-future husband Burt Reynolds. Loni and Burt adopted their son Quinton Anderson Reynolds in August 1988.
In 2019, Anderson said she and Reynolds – who died in 2018 from a heart attack – made peace before his death with the help of their son.
“We were friends first and friends last,” Anderson told Closer Weekly at the time. “It’s time to move on.”
The “WKRP in Cincinnati” actress insisted she and Reynolds put aside the hostility they endured when the marriage came to an end for the sake of Quinton.

“We have this wonderful child together,” she said. “Having a son was a big event in our lives and so everything revolved around him.”
On top of TV and film, Anderson was a prominent member of the musical theater community and became a New York Times best-selling author with her 1995 autobiography, “My Life In Heels.”

“Loni was a class act. Beautiful. Talented. Witty. ALWAYS a joy to be around,” Steve Sauer, President/CEO Media Four and Anderson’s manager for 30 years, said in a statement. “She was the ultimate working mother. Family first…and maintained a great balance with her career. She and I had wonderful adventures together that I shall forever cherish. I will especially miss that infectious chuckle of hers. She will be forever missed.”
On May 17, 2008, Anderson married Bob Flick, a founding member of the 1960’s folk group The Brothers Four.
Anderson is survived by her husband, daughter Deidra and son-in law Charlie Hoffman, son Quinton Anderson Reynolds, grandchildren McKenzie and Megan Hoffman, stepson Adam Flick and his wife Helene, step-grandchildren Felix and Maximilian.
A private family service will be held at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery followed by A Celebration of Life at a future date.
