Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove just delivered a civics lesson to a now-former top New York prosecutor who was apparently confused about who she worked for.

It all began when Bove, as authorized by Attorney General Pam Bondi, directed Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Danielle Sassoon to dismiss the federal indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The Biden Justice Department had indicted Adams on a somewhat questionable bribery charge after he had voiced public criticism of President Biden’s policies on illegal immigration.

TRUMP’S JUSTICE DEPARTMENT ORDER TO DROP PROSECUTION OF NYC MAYOR ERIC ADAMS SPARKS RESIGNATIONS

When he assumed office, President Donald Trump issued an order to de-weaponize the Justice Department, which had engaged in lawfare against him for years. In the spirit of this order, Bove—while not addressing the merits of Adams’ prosecution or impugning the integrity of the prosecutors—ordered the dismissal without prejudice, meaning charges can be brought in the future.

Bove provided two rationales for the decision. First, the indictment reasonably could be viewed as interfering with the November 2025 mayoral election in which Adams is a candidate. Second, the indictment would hinder Adams’ ability to assist the Trump administration in its illegal immigration enforcement activities. Bove ordered, for instance, that Adams’ security clearances be restored. Bove made clear that the Trump Justice Department and Adams had not bargained to dismiss the indictment in exchange for Adams’ assistance. Adams and his counsel agreed to the dismissal without prejudice, and the unopposed motion awaits a ruling by Manhattan U.S. District Judge Dale Ho.

Even though it called for no improper action by government attorneys, such as lying to the court, Bove’s directive set off a firestorm. Sassoon resigned and wrote a letter in which she asserted that dismissing the indictment would be contrary to the rule of law. She cited her clerkship for former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. She also clerked for Judge J. Harvey Wilkinson of the Fourth Circuit, and the media made sure to publish Wilkinson’s praise of Sassoon’s integrity in order to bash the Trump administration.

Half a dozen other prosecutors under Sassoon refused to dismiss the indictment and resigned. One, Hagan Scotten, used the terms “fool” and “coward” to describe anyone who would file the motion to dismiss the indictment. The media made sure to point out that Scotten had received a Bronze Star and that he had clerked for Chief Justice John Roberts and then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh, now an associate Supreme Court justice. These points are irrelevant, because what happened here was simple. Bove, acting under Bondi’s direction, issued a lawful order that many subordinates refused to obey. The Department of Justice Manual, Section 9-2.001, decrees that “[t]he United States Attorney . . . has plenary authority with regard to federal criminal matters. This authority is exercised under the supervision and direction of the Attorney General and his/her delegates.”

None of these sanctimonious prosecutors resigned during the four years of lawfare directed at President Trump. None of these holier-than-thou officials resigned when Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered the FBI to investigate parents who had questioned the way their children were being taught at school board meetings. None of these arrogant attorneys resigned when the Biden Justice Department weaponized the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act to pursue pro-life Christians who had prayed at abortion clinics while doing nothing about attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers and Catholic Churches. None of these preening lawyers resigned when the Biden Justice Department perverted an obstruction statute with a maximum sentence of two decades in prison to pursue January 6 protesters when that statute was, as the Supreme Court ruled last year, inapplicable. But a dismissal without prejudice of an indictment for alleged political corruption has spawned insufferable letters of condemnation and seven resignations so far.

To these insubordinates, good riddance, for you no longer reign over what you view as the “Sovereign District of New York.”

Article II of the Constitution vests the executive power and authority of the presidency in the president. Bondi and Bove are exercising President Donald Trump’s authority not to persecute people, but to stop possible persecutions. Recall that Adams was indicted by the Biden Justice Department after lodging criticism against the administration. Leftists in the media certainly would have sounded the alarm if the Trump Justice Department had indicted a government official critical of Trump. In his extraordinary dissent in (1988), Justice Scalia wrote about the prospect of a weaponized legal system. Times have proven him sadly correct, and Bove referenced the dissent in his damning response letter to Sassoon.

Former President Obama won a decisive victory in 2008, including a 10-point win in Pennsylvania. Still, the Bush 43 Justice Department filed charges against several members of the New Black Panther Party who allegedly had intimidated voters and poll workers at polling places. Kristen Clarke, who later headed the Civil Rights Division under President Biden, lobbied vigorously and successfully for the Obama Justice Department to drop the charges. This political decision sparked no outrage or letters of resignation from career prosecutors. No media howls erupted.

Here, President Trump’s political appointees issued a lawful and ethical order that two career Justice Department prosecutors—apparently fools or cowards in Scotten’s view—signed. Spoiled-brat bureaucrats refused to obey the directive, believing they knew better. Sassoon, for instance, argued there was no reasonable basis to dismiss the case. That is not her call; the President and his appointees determine what is in the best interest of the nation, not bureaucrats.

Now these miscreants find themselves deservedly out of jobs, soon to be replaced by federal prosecutors who will obey lawful orders because of an understanding that President Trump and his political appointees make these decisions, not career bureaucrats. That is the way our representative democracy works. President Trump does not threaten our democracy; the insubordinate bureaucrats who are attempting to thwart him do.

To these insubordinates, good riddance, for you no longer reign over what you view as the “Sovereign District of New York.” Career federal prosecutors in SDNY are learning the hard way that they report to the deputy attorney general, who reports to the attorney general, who reports to the president. Any other way proves we have a deep state, which too many pretend is a conspiracy theory.

Rubio clashes with anchor after she claims ‘weaponized’ free speech caused Holocaust

Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended Vice President JD Vance’s speech in Germany slamming Europe’s penchant for censorship on Sunday.

Rubio clashed with CBS host Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation” after she suggested that free speech had been “weaponized” to bring about the Holocaust in Nazi Germany.

Brennan highlighted Vance’s speech to the Munich Security Conference in Germany last week, which criticized European allies for adopting a “soviet”-style approach to censorship.

“What did all of this accomplish, other than irritating our allies?” Brennan asked.

HEGSETH SAYS HE AND VANCE ARE ‘ON THE SAME PAGE’ DESPITE VP’S REMARK ON US TROOPS IN UKRAINE

“Why would our allies or anybody be irritated by free speech and by someone giving their opinion? We are, after all, democracies,” Rubio said. “The Munich Security Conference is largely a conference of democracies in which one of the things that we cherish and value is the ability to speak freely and provide your opinions. And so, I think if anyone’s angry about his words, they don’t have to agree with him, but to be angry about it, I think actually makes his point.”

VANCE WARNS THE US WILL USE SANCTIONS, MILITARY ACTION IF PUTIN DOESN’T AGREE TO UKRAINE PEACE DEAL: REPORT

“Well, he was standing in a country where free speech was weaponized to conduct a genocide,” Brennan replied. “He met with the head of a political party that has far-right views and some historic ties to extreme groups. The context of that was changing the tone of it. And you know that.”

“Well, I have to disagree with you. No – I have, I have to disagree with you,” Rubio said as the pair talked over one another. “Free speech was not used to conduct a genocide. The genocide was conducted by an authoritarian Nazi regime that happened to also be genocidal because they hated Jews and they hated minorities and they had a list of people they hated, but primarily the Jews.”

He added, “There was no free speech in Nazi Germany. There was none. There was also no opposition in Nazi Germany. They were the sole and only party that governed that country. So that’s not an accurate reflection of history.”

Rubio went on to reiterate Vance’s point that European leaders should be able to continue working with the U.S. and other like-minded nations despite facing criticism, at which point Brennan ended the segment.

Top automaker considering moving production as Trump gets tough on tariffs

Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida suggested President Trump’s tariffs could force the car manufacturer to shift its production outside of Mexico.

“From Mexico to the U.S., we are exporting a significant number of cars this fiscal year[…] 320,000 units are exported from Mexico to the U.S., and if the high tariffs are imposed, we need to be ready for this, and maybe we can transfer the production of these models elsewhere if this were the decision, we will think how we can make it a reality while monitoring the situation,” Uchida said, according to a translation on Reuters.

The move could be a major blow to Mexico’s auto production sector, as nearly 670,000 vehicles were made by Nissan in the country last year, with over 456,000 of those being exported, according to the Spanish-language UnoTV

The outlet said Nissan ranks second in Mexico for those metrics after General Motors.

WHITE HOUSE ECONOMIST SAYS RECIPROCAL TARIFF NEGOTIATIONS WITH OTHER COUNTRIES UNDERWAY

“We are exporting a large volume to U.S., so if there’s a high tariff, this would have huge implications on our business, so we need to monitor this carefully.”

Trump’s 25% tariffs on Mexico are currently on hold until at least March following a conversation with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. Trump has argued that the primary goal of tariffs on the United States’ southern neighbor is to promote border security.

“It was a very friendly conversation wherein she agreed to immediately supply 10,000 Mexican Soldiers on the Border separating Mexico and the United States. These soldiers will be specifically designated to stop the flow of fentanyl, and illegal migrants into our Country,” Trump said in a Truth Social post after the conversation with Sheinbaum, as critics argued that Mexico has sent in border troops multiple times in previous years.

WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH TRUMP’S TARIFFS ON CHINA, CANADA AND MEXICO?

Still, Trump said that conversations between the two countries will now be conducted by Cabinet officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, according to the post at the time.

However, the possibility of tariffs resuming is causing popular companies in the United States, like Nissan, to consider actions to avoid higher costs if their production lines are based out of Mexico, China or Canada. Besides the tariffs with Mexico, the White House announced there would be reciprocal tariffs on countries that add a premium to the cost of American goods.

“By making trade more reciprocal and balanced, we can reduce the trade deficit; grow the United States economy; and improve our trade relationships with trading partners to the benefit of American workers, manufacturers, farmers, ranchers, entrepreneurs, and businesses,” Trump said in a memorandum on Thursday.

Former Biden official slams Kamala Harris for crucial misstep on the campaign trail

Former Biden White House press secretary Jen Psaki slammed former Vice President Kamala Harris for closing her presidential campaign by campaigning with Liz Cheney and relying on “elite language,” that failed to connect with voters.

“I don’t think closing the campaign with a message about fighting democracy with a former Republican member of Congress was the right strategy,” Psaki told Jon Stewart on his “The Weekly Show” podcast on Friday.

Psaki lauded Cheney, who headed the House’s Jan. 6 committee and endorsed Harris for president, as “heroic” and conceded that she’s not the reason the Democrats lost the 2024 election but still faulted Democrats for failing to articulate a message that spoke to the majority of everyday Americans.

LIZ CHENEY CAMPAIGNS WITH VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS AHEAD OF THE ELECTION

“I think we were speaking in a manner that was so academic an Ivory Tower, it wasn’t talking about a lot of the things people actually care about…  I think they voted in some ways against protection of status quo and the disconnected academic Ivory Tower elite language that is too often used by Democrats,” she said. “One of my takeaways after the election was cross-authoritarianism and oligarchy out of every script. Nobody talks this way.”

Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, was once supportive of President Donald Trump, but their relationship soured following the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Cheney became one of only ten Republicans to vote to impeach Trump after the riot, and went on to lose her Wyoming House seat after Trump endorsed her primary challenger, Rep. Harriet Hagerman.

‘DAMN RIGHT’: LIZ CHENEY’S PAST USAID EMPLOYMENT FACES BACKLASH AFTER LASHING OUT AT ELON MUSK

Cheney headed the House Jan. 6 committee, and was later accused by House Republicans of engaging in witness tampering. GOP Congressional leaders called on the FBI to investigate Cheney for allegedly communicating with committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson without her attorney’s knowledge. In the waning days of the 2024 election, Trump took aim at Cheney, blasting her as a “radical war hawk.”

Biden granted Cheney a pre-emptive pardon on his way out the door, along with Anthony Fauci and several other Trump antagonists.

During the podcast, Stewart lamented that the Democrats have become the “party of the government, the party of the status quo,” which he claimed missed the reality that most Americans are facing.

“And institutions,” Psaki agreed.

White House scorches ‘moron’ Dem after his expletive-riddled freak out over parody account

The White House slammed Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy as a “moron” on social media after the Connecticut lawmaker posted an expletive-riddled admonishment against a Lara Trump parody account he seemingly believed belonged to the president’s daughter-in-law.

“You are a moron, Chris. It is obvious this page is not affiliated with President Trump, his family, or the administration. We do, however, support your right to make such a statement, no matter how imbecilic it makes you look,” the White House’s X account, Rapid Response 47, said in a message posted on Friday.

The rapid response account is a new White House account that was launched in January to hold “fake news accountable.”

The White House was responding to Murphy singling out a social media post he ostensibly believed Lara Trump posted regarding border czar Tom Homan potentially arresting Rep. Alexandira Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. Murphy included a screenshot of the alleged Lara Trump tweet, showing the handle for the account belongs to an X page called the “Lara Trump Page,” a parody fan account  – not her official X account.

HOMAN, AOC CLASH OVER WEBINAR TO HELP IMMIGRANTS ‘EVADE’ ICE RAIDS: ‘I THOUGHT I EDUCATED HER’

“If you support Border Czar Tom Homan arresting AOC for giving illegal aliens instructions on how to avoid deportation, post a [thumbs up emoji] in the comments,” the fan page account posted on Thursday. “Make your voice heard.”

Murphy responded to the social media post by arguing the Trump administration has “some f—ing gall” discussing free speech when advocating for the arrest of a Democrat.

“It takes some f—ng gall to have Vance lecturing Europe on ‘free speech’ when at the exact same time the Trump regime is threatening Democrats back home with arrest if they even explain people’s rights to them,” Murphy posted to X on Friday.

Murphy’s tweet was hit with a community note, detailing that he was responding to a parody fan account and that Lara Trump did not issue such a tweet.

“This is a screenshot of a parody account of Lara Trump. Her real account is below and no such post exists,” the community note states.

AOC’S OFFICE ADVISES MIGRANTS ON HOW TO AVOID DEPORTATIONS IN LIVE WEBINAR

Fox News Digital reached out to Murphy’s office for comment Sunday morning, but did not immediately reply.

The parody account’s message was likely referring to Ocasio-Cortez’s office posting a webinar “Know Your Rights” guide about how illegal immigrants can avoid deportation amid the Trump administration’s border crackdown following the immigration crisis that rocked the U.S. under the Biden administration.

Homan, former acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and current border czar under the second Trump administration, told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham last week that he asked the Justice Department if Ocasio-Cortez’s guide crossed a legal line.

“Is that impeding our law enforcement efforts?” Homan said on the “Ingraham Angle.”  “If so, what are we going to do about it? Is she crossing the line? So I’m working with the Department of Justice and finding out. Where is that line that they cross? So maybe AOC is going to be in trouble now.”

Comedian claims ‘Modern Family’ star was a ‘tyrant’ on film set

“Modern Family” star Sarah Hyland was allegedly “rude to everyone” on the set of a film, according to her co-star.

Comedian Jeff Dye appeared on “The George Janko Show” podcast last week, sharing his side of his interactions with Hyland on the set of the 2019 film, “The Wedding Year.”

Dye acknowledged his role in the film was small, but in his time on set, he claimed Hyland was “such a tyrant” and “rude to everyone.”

He described the actress as a “pretty woman who chain-smokes and is terrible.”

According to Dye, Hyland complained that extras were at the craft services table, “like she was annoyed that some extras wanted some f—ing free granola bars … like it was in her kitchen or something.”

The 42-year-old comedian also says that Hyland “hated” him and told him directly, “You’re what is wrong with people.”

In Dye’s opinion, part of the issue is that he is “an actual man. She’s not used to ever masculine energy of any sort.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Hyland’s representatives for comment.

Dye said another run-in occurred when the 34-year-old allegedly wanted to show members of the cast and crew the trailer for the live-action “Dumbo” movie on her phone.

“They’re all in this hierarchy of Hollywood where it’s like, she’s No. 1 on the call sheet, [so] we have to, like, pander to her. If she’s mean to us, just let her be mean to us, and if she’s sad, pretend like it’s OK that she’s sad, but she was a tyrant, she literally was a terrible person” he said.

Dye claimed that Hyland started crying while showing the trailer, “letting us know how moved she is,” he noted.

By his own admission, Dye said he wanted to “ruin the moment,” so he replied, “That looks gay,” adding he “didn’t even mean it.”

“I ruined her little showpiece of, like, ‘Look how much I’m into the arts that I’m moved by ‘Dumbo.’”

“She thinks she’s so important, and this is, like, the whole industry,” Dye said.

Host George Janko asked, “How do we know that it’s not you that rubs her the wrong way?”

In Dye’s opinion, he said he saw “the way she was behaving with everyone” and claimed he spoke with other people on set asking if they also thought she was “mean,” to which they agreed.

SARAH HYLAND AND WELLS ADAMS ARE MARRIED IN CEREMONY ATTENDED BY HER ‘MODERN FAMILY’ CO-STARS

He concluded he wasn’t concerned about badmouthing Hyland and potentially losing work.

“Don’t care at all,” he said, “I’m just being honest,” as he complimented director Robert Luketic and actress Anna Camp, who played his partner in the film.

Dye had previously called out his ex-girlfriend, Kristin Cavallari, who he said exploited his 2023 DUI arrest “for clicks.”

On the “Smoochie Town with Marco DelVecchio” podcast, Dye said Cavallari had explained that she shared the story because it was an experience she had. He was with her when he was arrested.

“Interesting,” he said, “because, you know, when we were dating, I had a billion experiences with you that I didn’t just go share. I had experiences with you that I didn’t go tell everyone. Those were also my experiences when you were f—ing off with all these other people.”

Daytona 500 winner earns back-to-back titles in overtime lap thriller

William Byron won the Daytona 500, which was a marathon on Sunday night, after rain delays and yellow caution flags ultimately led to some overtime laps.

And those two overtime laps were an absolute thrill that saw multiple spin-outs and crashes that allowed Byron to win the Daytona 500 for the second consecutive year.

Six of the last eight Daytona 500 races have ended in overtime, and like any overtime in sports, the desperation was felt by every driver to come out on top.

But trying to get to the front of the pack led to a wreck at the front, where Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 car was leading with one lap to go as Cole Custer and Chase Briscoe were trying to move ahead of him.

But as Custer was on Hamlin’s right, Briscoe bumped the back of the No. 11 car, which ultimately led the three-time Daytona 500 winner to spin-out, hitting No. 2 Austin Cindric on his left in the process.

With a bit of luck, though, Byron came out of the wreck unscathed and the caution flag never came up as he hit the final straightaway to the checkered flag for the win.

TRUMP APPLAUDS ‘GUTS’ OF NASCAR DRIVERS AHEAD OF DAYTONA 500, SENDS THEM SPECIAL MESSAGE

Tyler Reddick (No. 45), Jimmie Johnson (No. 84), Briscoe, and John Nemechek rounded out the top five.

Speaking of yellow flags, the 67th running of the “Great American Race” came with a bunch, especially one after Ryan Preece’s No. 60 car flying through the air after a wreck with five laps to go. Thankfully, he walked off the track at Daytona unscathed.

Christopher Bell was battling with Hamlin for first place when Custer’s Ford pushed Bell’s No. 20 one too many times.

Bell’s car was dancing a bit as Custer continued to bump him, and the No. 20 eventually had enough as it smashed into the wall. Ryan Preece’s No. 60 car took over in the air as a result of the crash by Bell as well, but thankfully no one was injured as a result.

A yellow flag came out late with 14 laps to go, as Ryan Blaney, who was in position to make a run at the win, was knocked out of the running after Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s front left tire wiped him out in a crash that involved Joey Logano and others as well.

The wreck occurred after Logano tried to make a move passed Stenhouse, who was quick to keep his lead. Kyle Busch was also in a good position to win it, but he was seen in his No. 8 car spinning out as well.

The race faced two delays due to inclement weather, as rain poured down in Florida above the track.

President Donald Trump also made an appearance at Daytona, leading the drivers on a lap before the race began. It’s the second time he’s attended the event, and applauded NASCAR’s drivers while speaking with FOX Sports’ Jamie Little.

“They have a lot of courage doing this,” Trump said. “I see it and I’ve been here. They have a lot of guts, as they would say.”

Trump, who was joined on the track by his granddaughter, highlighted the progress of the United States since he started his second term as president.

“I think it’s fantastic. I think it’s great for the country,” he said. “The country is doing well again. We have spirit all over the world. There’s spirit again, we brought it back and it’s been less than four weeks. You’ll see what we do in a little period of time. It’s gonna only get better. But this is very exciting.”

Venomous snake discovered inside grocery store banana shipment

A slithery surprise discovered in a banana shipment sent a scare through a southern New Hampshire grocery store.

A conservation officer with the state New Hampshire Fish and Game Department responded Saturday to a report of an “unwanted hitchhiker” at the Market Basket in Manchester, according to WMUR and a statement posted to Facebook.

HAWAII STORE EMPLOYEES DISCOVER 2-FOOT SNAKE IN CHRISTMAS TREE SHIPPING CONTAINER

The slithering stowaway was determined to be an ornate cat-eyed snake, a mildly venomous reptile native to Ecuador, which is one of the largest exporters of bananas to the U.S.

Conservation officer Griffin McKeown told WMUR that in responding to the incident, he spoke with an employee who “seemed to be pretty familiar with snakes.”

The call was “a first” for McKeown, he continued. “We’ve had a few calls about pet surrenders of ball pythons and stuff like that, but never, never [a] venomous snake.”

McKeown also noted that possession of any venomous snake, aside from the hog-nosed snake, is illegal in New Hampshire.

After it was determined the snake was unharmed, it was re-homed to northern Massachusetts-based Rainforest Reptile Shows Inc. for proper care.
