GOP congresswoman sends public message to AG Bondi over JFK, Epstein files delay

Republicans are mounting pressure on the Justice Department to advance the release of classified documents and records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and other federal secrets.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January for agencies to create plans to distribute the files, as well as documents pertaining to the assassinations of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

But Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., who is leading the House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, is pushing the Department of Justice for answers on when that will happen — and so far, says she has faced silence.

“On Feb 11 & Feb 19, house oversight sent a letter to the DOJ asking for status on releasing the Epstein files as well as JFK etc.,” Luna said in a post on X Monday. “The DOJ has not responded. Reaching out on X because we can’t seem to get a response from the AG. @AGPamBondi what is the status of the documents? These documents were ordered to be declassified.”

ANNA PAULINA LUNA TO LEAD TASK FORCE ON DECLASSIFICATION OF JFK ASSASSINATION RECORDS, EPSTEIN CLIENT LIST

Luna sent a letter to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and White House Counsel David Warrington requesting a briefing by Thursday on plans for the release of the documents.

The letter also requests details on when the declassified documents will become available to the task force and the public.

Trump’s executive order instructed the Department of Justice to coordinate with Gabbard, Waltz and Warrington to establish a plan by Feb. 7 for the release of the JFK files, and to create a plan for the release of the MLK and Robert F. Kennedy files by March 9.

Additionally, Luna is pushing the Justice Department to share details regarding Jeffrey Epstein’s client list. The American financier died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Meanwhile, Bondi said Friday that Epstein’s client list was awaiting review, and that she was looking over the Kennedy and King files.

“It’s sitting on my desk right now to review,” Bondi told “America Reports” host John Roberts Friday about the Epstein files. “That’s been a directive by President Trump.”

TRUMP SIGNS ORDER TO DECLASSIFY FILES ON JFK, RFK AND MLK ASSASSINATIONS

A spokesperson for the Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Luna’s office did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital in response to Bondi’s statements.

Luna isn’t the only Republican lawmaker pushing for the release of these documents. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., also said Monday Democrats have undercut her efforts to “crack the Epstein trafficking ring wide open,” and vowed that she would receive answers under newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel.

“The time for transparency is now,” Blackburn said in a Monday post on X.

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, also said in a Monday X post that the documents belong to the American people, and “it’s about damn time they be given access to it!”

The Office for the Director of National Intelligence also did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital, but told the Associated Press that a plan has been submitted regarding the Kennedy files.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital. However, Trump vowed on the campaign trail that he would declassify all JFK-related documents if he won the 2024 election.

The House’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets is scheduled to hold its first public hearing on March 26.

White House press secretary announces changes to press pool

The White House Correspondents Association will no longer be responsible for determining which outlets get privileged access to the briefing room and the White House, President Donald Trump’s administration announced Tuesday.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says the White House press team will now determine the rotations and which outlets get access, upending decades of WHCA supremacy. Leavitt clarified that legacy media outlets that have been prominent within the WHCA will still have a presence at briefings, and that the five major television networks will still be relied on to broadcast White House events.

“I am proud to announce that we are going to give the power back to the people who read your papers, who watch your television shows, and who listen to your radio stations. Moving forward, the White House press pool will be determined by the White House press team. Legacy outlets who have participated in the press pool for decades will still be allowed to join, fear not. But we will also be offering the privilege to well-deserving outlets who have never been allowed to share in this awesome responsibility,” Leavitt told reporters during Tuesday’s briefing.

The announcement comes just days after The Associated Press sued the Trump White House for denying the outlet access to the briefing room, Air Force One and other exclusive areas. A federal judge ruled in favor of the White House on Monday.

TRUMP OFFICIALS LIST 5 WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AHEAD OF MUSK MIDNIGHT DEADLINE

Leavitt argued the WHCA had represented an entrenched monopoly of “DC journalists” who no longer represented the wider media landscape and how Americans get their news.

“A select group of D.C.-based journalists should no longer have a monopoly over the privilege of press access at the White House. All journalists, outlets and voices deserve a seat at this highly coveted table,” she said.

The White House decision “tears at the independence of a free press in the United States,” WHCA president Eugene Daniels said in a statement. “It suggests the government will choose the journalists who cover the president. In a free country, leaders must not be able to choose their own press corps.”

Daniels said the WHCA received no heads up from the White House before the decision.

The Trump White House had earlier introduced a “new media seat” in the briefing room to provide access to more diverse outlets. The digital outlet Semafor was represented at Tuesday’s briefing.

GOOGLE MAPS UPDATE: GULF OF AMERICA, MOUNT MCKINLEY WILL BE IN AFTER TRUMP ORDERS NAME CHANGES

The White House originally blocked The Associated Press last week from the Oval Office and Air Force One because the news organization has refrained from renaming the “Gulf of Mexico” to the “Gulf of America.”

“The Associated Press continues to ignore the lawful geographic name change of the Gulf of America. This decision is not just divisive, but it also exposes the Associated Press’ commitment to misinformation. While their right to irresponsible and dishonest reporting is protected by the First Amendment, it does not ensure their privilege of unfettered access to limited spaces, like the Oval Office and Air Force One,” White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich wrote on X.

“Going forward, that space will now be opened up to the many thousands of reporters who have been barred from covering these intimate areas of the administration,” Budowich continued. “Associate Press journalists and photographers will retain their credentials to the White House complex.”

AP senior vice president and executive editor Julie Pace wrote to White House chief of staff Susie Wiles last week after a reporter was blocked from attending a White House event.

“The actions taken by this White House were plainly intended to punish the AP for the content of its speech,” Pace wrote, according to an AP report. “It is among the most basic tenets of the First Amendment that the government cannot retaliate against the public or the press for what they say.”

State punishes lawmaker who called out trans athlete for beating girls in state meet

The Maine House of Representatives voted to censure Rep. Laurel Libby Tuesday night for a recent social media post pointing out that a transgender high school athlete won a girls’ competition.

The Maine House’s Democratic majority, led by Speaker Ryan Fecteau, passed the censure resolution Tuesday night in a 75-70 vote. Libby is now no longer allowed to speak on the house floor or vote until she issues an apology.

Libby told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview after the vote that she does not plan to apologize for her recent post.

After the censure had been determined, Fecteau told Libby that the House members would take a break while Libby considered her apology.

“I told him, ‘We do not need to take ease’ as I was going to continue speaking up for Maine girls,” Libby said.

Libby’s post came last Sunday when she pointed out that a transgender track and field athlete had taken first place at a Maine girls’ pole vault competition after competing as a boy just one year earlier. The premise of Libby’s censure by the Maine House was focused on the fact that she posted a photo of a minor and provided that minor’s name.

“It’s a remarkable double standard as there are public photos of this individual in many places, on social media and even some posted by his school, and so yes, this post went viral, but this was an individual who participated in a public event, who publicly stood on a podium and accepted a championship medal that rightfully belonged to the girls standing on the second-place spot,” Libby said.

House Majority Leader Matt Moonen condemned Libby in a statement on the House floor.

“She has irreparably broken the trust that has been placed in her as an elected official serving in this House of Representatives,” Moonen said. “This institution and all of Maine deserve better.”

House Minority Leader Billy Bob Faulkingham spoke out against the censure, pointing out that the state legislature’s ethics code does not mention online posts that members make.

During Tuesday’s vote, Libby came to the house floor with a prepared seven-page speech on the importance of protecting girls’ and women’s sports from trans inclusion. However, throughout the night, her microphone was consistently turned off when she was trying to deliver that speech.

“I was completely unable, from my first sentence, to get a word out, before the other side was shutting me down,” Libby said, adding that she had never seen anything like that happen during her tenure in the Maine legislature.

Libby later posted a video of her giving the speech on Facebook after the hearing.

HOW TRANSGENDERISM IN SPORTS SHIFTED THE 2024 ELECTION AND IGNITED A NATIONAL COUNTERCULTURE

Libby says that while she doesn’t plan to apologize, she does have another course of action she plans on taking to regain her voting and speaking privileges, but did not disclose any details of that plan.

Maine Republicans and Libby’s constituents will now lose a vote and a voice for other issues in the state’s legislative process amid a busy month.

Libby recently proposed a bill to expand access to mental health resources for Maine residents, which she will now not be able to help push through. In the coming weeks, the Maine House will vote on the upcoming biannual budget, and Libby will not get to vote on that either.

“It’s look like I will not be able to speak on that or vote on that,” she said.

Libby’s revelation of the trans athlete ignited national conversation and coverage of the state’s policy on trans inclusion after Maine announced it would not comply with President Donald Trump’s recent “No Men in Women’s Sports” executive order.

Trump then vowed to cut funding to the state for refusing to follow his order during a gathering of governors at the White House last Thursday.

On Friday, Mills’ office responded with a statement threatening legal action against the Trump administration if it did withhold federal funding from the state. Then, Trump and Mills verbally sparred in a widely-publicized argument at the White House during a bipartisan meeting of governors.

Just hours after that interaction, the U.S. Department of Education announced it will be investigating the state for allowing trans athletes to compete in girls sports and potential Title IX violations.

Police protection has since been assigned to the high school that is attended by the trans athlete who Libby identified in her Facebook post, amid concerns over safety.

A recent New York Times/Ipsos survey found the vast majority of Americans, including a majority of Democrats, don’t think transgender athletes should be permitted to compete in women’s sports.

Of the 2,128 people who participated, 79% said biological males who identify as women should not be allowed to participate in women’s sports. Of the 1,025 people who identified as Democrats or leaning Democrat, 67% said transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete with women.

For Libby, she has her own hypothesis about why Democrat lawmakers in her state, and many across the country, are fighting so hard to protect trans inclusion in girls’ sports, despite most Americans, and even most Democrats, being opposed to it.

“I think Maine Democrats’ stance is, they haven’t gone hard enough, and they need to dig in,” Libby said.

But she expects that Democrats fighting for their current stance, and censuring her Tuesday night, will backfire on them moving forward.

“I think this was a tremendous misstep on the part of the Democrats, and they are completely misjudging this issue, and they do not understand how vigorously Maine people disagree with them on this policy, and they will at some point regret this action from tonight,” she said.

Libby added that she believes her Republican colleagues have her back as she fights the censure.

Republican congressman announces plans to run for governor

Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., announced plans to run for Florida governor next year during an interview on Fox News’ “Hannity” Tuesday night.

The next Florida gubernatorial election is slated for Nov. 3, 2026. Speaking to host Sean Hannity, Donalds said he came to the decision to run “after a lot of prayer [and] a lot of thoughts with my family and my friends.”

“Sean, we have a wonderful state,” Donalds said. “I got to Florida when I was 17 years old, off of a Greyhound bus with just a trunk full of clothes. And over the rest of my time in Florida, I built a family, I built a career. … I was able to serve four years in a state legislature, four years in Congress.

“And I think now is the time to now take the mantle and lead our state into the future.”

RON DESANTIS: FLORIDA WAS DOGE BEFORE IT WAS COOL

The Florida Republican said he is the only candidate in the race so far and commended Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for his service to the state.

“We have a great governor. Ron DeSantis has done a tremendous job for our state,” Donalds said. “But now the job is to keep the best state in the country as the best state in the country. And so that’s going to be the mission at hand. And I’m excited to announce my candidacy with you tonight.”

Donalds was endorsed by President Donald Trump, who recently wrote that his fellow Sunshine State resident “would be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida.”

“I am hearing that Highly Respected Congressman Byron Donalds is considering running for Governor of Florida, a State that I love, and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024,” a Trump social media post said.

“[S]hould he decide to run, [Donalds] will have my Complete and Total Endorsement. RUN, BYRON, RUN!”

KAMALA HARRIS TAKES VEILED JABS AT TRUMP, ELON MUSK IN 1ST MAJOR SPEECH SINCE ELECTION DEFEAT

DeSantis, however, has not signaled support for Donalds. On Monday, DeSantis told reporters he wants Florida congressmen to be “focused on enacting [Trump’s] agenda.”

“They haven’t done very much yet,” DeSantis said. “They’re not putting his executive orders into place. We’ll see what they do on the spending, but we have such a narrow majority that to be trying to campaign other places and missing these votes, I think, is not something that’s advisable at all.”

DeSantis’ comments came amid rumors that his wife, Casey, might run for governor. The Florida governor dodged a reporter’s question about his wife’s plans at a press conference Monday.

“People ask me all the time about our wonderful first lady, who has done a fantastic job as first lady of Florida,” DeSantis responded. “I will tell you this. You’re talking about somebody like her. I won by the biggest margin that any Republican has ever won a governor’s race here in Florida. She would do better than me.”

Trump explains his idea to sell $5M ‘gold cards’ to foreign nationals

President Donald Trump suggested the introduction of a “gold card” visa on Tuesday afternoon — a potential opportunity for foreign investors to buy their way to American citizenship.

The U.S. currently offers a similar opportunity through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, which was established in 1990 and is administered by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). According to USCIS’s website, the visa is open to investors who “make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States,” as well as “plan to create or preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified U.S. workers.”

But Trump’s recent suggestion would replace the EB-5 program, and instead, the Republican president plans to propose a “gold card” visa to the tune of $5 million.

“We are going to be selling a gold card,” Trump explained to reporters. “We are going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million.”

“It’s going to give you green card privileges, plus it’s going to be a route to (American) citizenship, and wealthy people would be coming into our country by buying this card,” the president continued.

When a reporter asked if it was possible for a Russian oligarch to obtain the card, Trump answered in the affirmative.

“Yeah, possibly,” the U.S. leader replied. “Hey, I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people.”

At least one other member of the Trump administration has signaled support for the measure. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick accused the EB-5 program of being “full of nonsense, make-believe and fraud.”

“It was a way to get a green card that was low price,” Lutnick said. “So the president said, rather than having this sort of ridiculous EB-5 program, we’re going to end the EB-5 program. We’re going to replace it with the Trump gold card.”

More information about the “gold card” is expected to come in the next few weeks. Other countries have similar visas: the United Kingdom offers a Tier 1 (Investor) visa, which allows a path to citizenship for foreign nationals willing to invest five to 10 million pounds.

Trump’s DNI describes moves to punish NSA employees tied to explicit chatrooms

President Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence is taking action against federal employees within the intelligence community for alleged ties to explicit conversations on an internal agency messaging board.

DNI Tulsi Gabbard put out a directive Tuesday to terminate the employment of and revoke the security clearances of employees who participated in obscene and explicit chatrooms on the National Security Agency’s (NSA) “Intelink” messaging platform.

“There are over 100 people from across the intelligence community that contributed to and participated in… what is really just an egregious violation of trust. What to speak of, like basic rules and standards around professionalism,” Gabbard said on “Jesse Watters Primetime” Tuesday.

NSA INVESTIGATES ‘SECRET SEX CHATS’ UNDER GUISE OF DEI ON INTERNAL AGENCY MESSAGE BOARD

Federal employees are under investigation for allegedly misusing an internal agency messaging board to dish on their sexual fantasies under the guise of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), officials say.

Chat logs from the National Security Agency’s (NSA) “Intelink” messaging platform, obtained by researchers from the conservative Manhattan Institute reportedly via sources within the NSA, revealed employees from various intelligence agencies discussing their experiences with gender-reassignment surgery, artificial genitalia, hormone therapy, polyamory and pronoun usage. Some of these agencies reportedly include the Defense Intelligence Agency, U.S. Naval Intelligence and the NSA.

After the Intelink chat logs were released Monday, an NSA spokesperson indicated to Fox News Digital that it was “actively investigating” potential abuses of the agency-operated messaging platform.

“We got to take a step back because this is just barely scratching the surface,” Gabbard told Fox News host Jesse Watters.

“When you see what these people were saying,… they were brazen in using an NSA platform intended for professional use to conduct this kind of really, really horrific behavior. And they were brazen in doing this because when was the last time anyone was really held accountable? Certainly not over the last four years, certainly not over the last 10, maybe 20 years, and we look at some of the biggest violations of the American people’s trust in the intelligence community.”

BIPARTISAN LETTER WARNS GABBARD NEW UK ORDER FOR BACKDOOR APPLE DATA COULD JEOPARDIZE AMERICANS

Gabbard previously called the uncovered behavior “unacceptable,” writing on social media that “those involved WILL be held accountable.”

“These disgusting chat groups were immediately shut down when [the president] issued his EO ending the DEI insanity the Biden Admin was obsessed with,” Gabbard wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday evening. “Our IC must be focused on our core mission: ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people.”

The chat logs in question stemmed from DEI-focused groups hosted on the NSA’s Intelink Messenger, titled “LBTQA” and “IC_Pride_TWG,” according to the Manhattan Institute’s Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow. Rufo said the sources that approached him indicated the sexually explicit chats were given legitimacy through the NSA’s DEI efforts, which the agency has described as “not only mission critical, but mission imperative.”

The messages were part of DEI-focused employee resource groups that had been hijacked by activists who “spent all day” holding meetings with titles such as “Privilege,” “Ally Awareness,” “Pride,” and “Transgender Community Inclusion,” the source who leaked the chat logs reportedly informed the Manhattan Institute.

Gabbard noted Tuesday’s action holding federal employees “accountable” is “just beginning” and a part of the Trump administration’s larger efforts to carry out the mandate from the American people.

Three young women found dead at beach resort as police zero in on suspicious items

Three American tourists visiting Belize were recently found dead at a beach resort, local officials say, and authorities are investigating the deaths as possible drug overdoses.

Belize officials identified the women as Kaoutar Naqqad, 23, Imane Mallah, 24, and Wafae El-Arar, 26. The young women were found dead in the Central American country Saturday.

The tourists’ bodies were found in a room at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort in San Pedro. The group was last seen entering their room Thursday night.

After housing staff attempted to contact the group Friday, resort employees used a master key to enter the room Saturday morning, where the women were found “motionless,” according to The Associated Press.

While the cause of their deaths is still under investigation, staff said the women had froth in their mouths, which is suggestive of drug overdoses. According to Channel 5 Belize, officials found “alcohol and some gummies” in the room, and police are reviewing whether the substances were brought in from America or bought from locals.

“We’re not saying at this time that the gummies caused death, but we’re looking at every possibility,” Commissioner of Police Chester Williams was quoted as saying.

Vapes and snacks were also found in the women’s room, but no injuries or signs of forced entry were visible.

Belize, which borders the Caribbean Sea, is a popular destination for American tourists, though the U.S. government warns its citizens to be cautious in the country. The U.S. State Department lists a travel advisory for U.S. citizens in Belize on its website.

“Violent crime — such as sexual assault, home invasions, armed robberies, and murder — are common even during the day and in tourist areas,” the website warns. “A significant portion of violent crime is gang related.”

The State Department’s warning applies to the entire country of Belize, though it advises visitors to avoid Belize City specifically, which is around 35 miles south of San Pedro.

“Due to high crime, travelers are advised to exercise caution while traveling to the south side of Belize City,” the warning states. “Local police lack the resources and training to respond effectively to serious crimes.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the Belize Police Department for more information, but did not hear back.

Chiefs QB makes major change to appearance after Super Bowl loss

Patrick Mahomes officially has a new look.

The Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback unveiled his new haircut over the weekend, showing off a stark departure from his previous style. Mahomes no longer has his signature Mohawk, a defining feature of his image during the first eight years of his NFL career.

Now, he has a simple cropped style with a fade on the side.

Mahomes’ barber DeJuan Bonds, who’s been cutting the quarterback’s hair since his rookie year in 2017, told Fox News Digital about the possible reason why Mahomes chose to go with such a drastic change.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

“I just think with the end of the season, frustration maybe, like, ‘You know what, I’m done. It’s time for a new look, change,’ and I think that’s pretty much what prompted his sudden urge,” Bonds said. “It probably was a little bit [frustration], then there was like, ‘Hey you know, it’s time for a new look.'”

Bonds later added that frustration “possibly” played into the decision for Mahomes to cut his hair in such a different way, but can’t say for sure.

Bonds also said Mahomes was going for a more “adult” and “mature” look with this new style.

It wasn’t the first time Mahomes proposed the idea of a drastic change in hairstyle to Bonds. The barber said Mahomes previously brought up the idea of getting a shorter haircut when the quarterback was preparing for the birth of his first child, daughter Sterling, who was born in February 2021.

But Bonds talked Mahomes out of it, bringing up the fact that the quarterback had notable success with the Mohawk. At that point, Mahomes had already won a Super Bowl, a league MVP award, and was ascending as one of the league’s greatest players.

“He had mentioned during that time that entering fatherhood, he needed to go ahead and change up his hairstyle and didn’t want to be wearing a Mohawk, but we toyed with cutting it off a couple of times, but we were both superstitious and decided that now wasn’t the time,” Bonds said.

CHIEFS DYNASTY TIMELINES: HOW LOVABLE LOSERS BECAME AN EVIL EMPIRE

“Then after this season was when we kind of said, ‘Well, let’s just get through the season, and then we’ll talk about cutting it off.”

When Mahomes came to this decision, he initially told Bonds that he wanted to “cut it off.”

“A lot of times, when someone says, ‘Cut it off,’ they don’t really know. They’re just saying something. Me, as an experienced barber, I know that ‘cut it off’ really don’t mean ‘cut it off,'” Bonds said.

Had Bonds listened to Mahomes without any pushback, then the barber would have proceeded to give the quarterback a cut so low that it would have even been considered a skin fade.

“It could have been very low, but I know better than that. I know better than to follow anybody’s directions when they ‘just cut it off’ unless I ask them multiple times, and they say yes, and they want it all the way off, and I know he didn’t want that,” Bonds said.

And Bonds believes that if he did give Mahomes the full “cut it off” treatment, it would have had the reverse effect that Mahomes was looking for in terms of trying to look older and more mature.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

“I would advise him not to do that unless he wanted to turn back to a 17-year-old Mahomes,” Bonds said, referring to Mahomes’ hairstyle in high school when it was essentially just a skin fade. “Even with the haircut that he got right now, it made him look a lot younger, but if I did something like that to him, he would even look younger, and I don’t think he wants to look younger like that.”

So instead, Bonds proceeded with the haircut that he had in mind for Mahomes. As it was going, the televisions at Purple Lable Luxury Barbershop in Overland Park, Kansas, had NBA games on, as they talked about basketball.

Bonds recalled Mahomes once tweeting about the Luka Doncic trade during a haircut before the Super Bowl while ESPN’s “SportsCenter” played on TV, and then seeing the show feature Mahomes’ tweet being discussed just minutes later during the same haircut.

And then, after the haircut was over, and Mahomes’ new look was cemented, the quarterback smiled.

“He basically smiled and said, ‘Yeah, I like that,'” Bonds said.

Bonds is now set to travel to give Mahomes a follow-up cut on Thursday to maintain the look.
