General Situation
A trough of low pressure is bringing showers and thunderstorms to the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary persistently. Locally, around 10 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over many places this morning, and rainfall even exceeded 30 millimetres over parts of New Territories West and Lantau Island. Besides, an easterly airstream is affecting the coast of eastern Guangdong.
Forecast Description
Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms. Showers will be heavier in some areas at first. Light to moderate east to southeasterly winds.
Hot with sunny intervals and a few showers tomorrow. The weather will become unsettled with showers later on Friday to Saturday. Showers will ease off gradually and temperatures will drop slightly in the following couple of days.

Thunderstorm Warning issued at 8:35 a.m. on 7 May 2025 has been extended until 12:30 p.m. today. Isolated squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

1. Seek safe shelter if you are staying outdoors.
2. Leave the water. Do not swim outdoors or engage in other outdoor water sports.
3. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.
