Former Rep Phillips reveals Democratic Party’s efforts to hide Biden’s mental decline

Former Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., slammed the Democratic Party for allegedly covering up former President Joe Biden’s decline in mental acuity in an op-ed for The Free Press on Thursday.

Phillips argued that the party’s “constant lying and gaslighting” about Biden’s deteriorating health has cost the Democratic Party the public’s trust.

The former congressman detailed multiple instances where Biden’s decline was painfully apparent to those around him, and lamented the party’s leadership for allowing him to run for a second term.

“In 2021, I had a front-row seat on two occasions when he addressed the House Democratic Caucus. I also spent time in close proximity to the president during two flights on Air Force One, in 2021 and 2022, where I was alarmed to see the president’s obvious decline in communication skills, gait, and leadership capacity,” Phillips reported.

FLASHBACK: KARINE JEAN-PIERRE DECLARED THERE IS ‘NO COVER-UP’ OF BIDEN’S HEALTH AFTER HE DROPPED OUT OF RACE

Phillips claimed that after attending the White House holiday party in December 2022, the president’s decline was “too graphic to ignore,” and he had no doubt in his mind that Biden was “unfit to serve a second term.”

“My opinion wasn’t an outlier,” Phillips claimed. “My congressional colleagues, like me, had eyes; behind closed doors we acknowledged the reality, lamented our party leadership’s inaction, and recognized the impending disaster awaiting us in November 2024.”

After many hushed conversations about Biden’s worsening mental acuity, Phillips decided to reach out to prominent Democrats like California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, and Vice President Kamala Harris, to enter the race. But according to Phillips, nobody answered the call to action.

Frustrated with the leadership of his party, he decided to take matters into his own hands and enter the race himself.

“I was trying to spark a competitive primary—and at the very least to force a single, televised debate for Americans to assess the president and other candidates firsthand,” Phillips said. “I simply wanted Americans to see up close what I had seen and what the White House was trying to hide from them, and before it was too late.”

NEW BOOK EXPOSES HOW TOP BIDEN COMMS STAFFER WAS ‘TIP OF THE SPEAR’ COVERING UP BIDEN’S COGNITIVE DECLINE

Phillips claimed that his efforts to primary Biden were met by stiff opposition from Democratic leadership, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ chief of staff informing him that he “would not be speaking to Biden or anyone else in the White House” after making a courtesy call to inform Jeffries that he planned on running against the sitting president.

The former congressman also alleged that the media played a large role in preventing him from being listed on the ballot in 2024.

“Almost immediately, the party mechanism was activated, and I became persona non grata. The media, in particular MSNBC, where former Biden staffers wielded positions of influence—essentially deplatformed me and those supporting me,” Phillips claimed. “Party activists, paid and volunteer, took to social media to attack and discredit me.”

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) allegedly took steps to “keep anyone not named Biden from being on the ballot, forcing Phillips and his team to file multiple lawsuits.

“This wasn’t a fight for democracy, rather a coordinated fight against democracy—executed by a private corporation with no accountability to voters,” he asserted.

Phillips contended that Biden was surrounded by family and advisors who assured him that he was “popular, able, and the best candidate to take on Donald Trump.”

“And where did it get us? All those months of carefully guarding the president, prewriting his speeches, prerecording his interviews?” Phillips questioned. “In the end, the only unscripted, significant event President Biden did during his campaign was the [June] 2024 debate that was an unmitigated disaster. His entire campaign crumbled in the most humiliating way possible.”

Although Phillips had a multitude of criticisms for his party and those leading it, he did mention that the Democratic Party can still redeem itself.

“The first step is for everyone that was aware of Biden’s condition to come clean. No more evasions. No more insistence that he was sharp when you met him. The whole truth will come out, and they would be wise to get ahead of it,” he advised.

Phillips continued, proposing an intriguing question: “If a relatively little-known congressman like me knew that Biden was incapable of leading the country in a second term, what does that say about the complicity of the real party bosses whose names we all know?”

In conclusion, the former Democratic representative offered his party some advice on moving forward after the scandal.

“Protecting a president or institution at the cost of its credibility is a shortsighted and losing proposition. Democratic leaders and messengers must understand that sunlight is not our enemy, but rather the only way to earn the public’s confidence in our party,” he concluded.

Dave Shapiro, a music executive in the heavy metal and hard rock scene, and drummer Daniel Williams were among those killed in a San Diego plane crash.

Six people, including Shapiro and Williams, were on board the plane when it crashed into a neighborhood of U.S. Navy-owned housing in San Diego early Thursday morning. There are not believed to be any survivors.

Williams, former drummer for metal band The Devil Wears Prada, posted on his Instagram on Wednesday afternoon that he was boarding the plane with Shapiro. The band has posted a tribute to Williams on their Instagram page.

“No words. We owe you everything. Love you forever,” the band wrote.

Shapiro had a pilot’s license and was listed as the owner of the plane that crashed, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. He was among the six people killed in the crash, along with two employees, the music agency Sound Talent Group confirmed Thursday.

“We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy.”

“We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy,” the music agency he co-founded, Sound Talent Group, wrote in a statement.

Shapiro co-founded Sound Talent Group in 2018 alongside Tim Borror and Matt Andersen. The agency represented a diverse roster of artists, including Pierce the Veil, Parkway Drive, Sum 41 and Vanessa Carlton.

Shapiro was a strong advocate for independent musicians and a co-founder of the National Independent Talent Organization. He was included in Billboard’s 2012 “30 Under 30” list that recognized rising stars in entertainment. Industry veterans say Shapiro paved the way for the formation of other independent agencies and helped many alternative bands find audiences in the mainstream.

Tributes poured in from across the music industry, with many praising Shapiro’s dedication to artists and his genuine character.

Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley credited Shapiro with helping build the rock band back up during a “low point” in their career.

“His opinion mattered so much to me,” Whibley said. “He was that guy I would go to for advice on things.”

Nate Blasdell, former lead guitarist for the band I Set My Friends on Fire, said he was “absolutely heartbroken.”

“Dave was the first booking agent I ever worked with and he was a major part of my music career in my late teen years,” he said in a post on X.

DC PLANE CRASH VICTIM AND KANSAS CITY CHIEFS SUPERFAN PLANNED RETURN HOME FOR FAMILY SUPER BOWL PARTY

“He was truly the best in the game and one of the most respected people in the industry.”

In addition to his work in the music industry, Shapiro was a passionate aviator. He owned Velocity Aviation, a flight school offering lessons in San Diego and Homer, Alaska.

The small aircraft crashed in a large San Diego military neighborhood Thursday morning. Eight people in the neighborhood were injured, but none died.

The aircraft, a Cessna 550 Citation business jet, crashed around 3:45 a.m. in the Murphy Canyon neighborhood, igniting multiple homes and cars in flames.

The flight originated at Teterboro, New Jersey. After making a stop in Wichita, Kansas, it appeared to have been inbound to Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport.

Homes were engulfed in flames, and jet fuel rolled down the streets, as half a dozen vehicles ignited while residents in the neighborhood of U.S. Navy-owned housing were shaken awake just before 4 a.m. by the thunderous crash and subsequent explosions. Out their windows, they saw a wall of fire.

“I can’t quite put words to describe what the scene looks like, but with the jet fuel going down the street, and everything on fire all at once, it was pretty horrific to see,” San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said, according to The Associated Press.

No one in the neighborhood died, but eight were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and injuries that were not life-threatening, including a person who was hurt climbing out a window, police officer Anthony Carrasco said.

Arizona hiking influencer found dead after posting final sunset trail video

A social media influencer known for sharing her hiking adventures and spiritual reflections was found dead near a trailhead in Arizona after being reported missing.

The body of Hannah Moody, 31, was discovered in a Scottsdale preserve at around noon Thursday 600 yards off-trail, having gone missing the day before, the Scottsdale Police Department said in a press release.

Moody, who was an experienced hiker known for posting uplifting messages about life, was first reported missing at around 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday by concerned friends who said they had not heard from her, police said.

HIKER, 33, DIES AFTER HIKING ARIZONA MOUNTAINS IN EXTREME HEAT, 4 OTHERS RESCUED

That sparked a search effort by police who initially found her car still parked in the parking lot at the Gateway Trailhead in Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Officers began searching the area on foot, with drones and by helicopter and the search was called off at around 11:30 p.m. local time.

The search resumed Thursday morning with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Air Unit locating Moody’s body.

“It is a heartbreaking development in the extensive search for the missing hiker,” police said

Investigators said they are trying to piece together what happened and said there are no obvious signs of foul play or trauma at this point. A cause of death is not yet known and will ultimately be determined by the medical examiner.

FATAL FALL IN WASHINGTON’S NORTH CASCADES KILLS 3, LEAVES 1 SURVIVOR

Hauntingly, Moody posted a video of herself earlier this week talking into the camera on a hike and thanking God for the fact her new day shift in a restaurant allows her to hike at sunset.

She said she was initially concerned since she would be making less money on the day shift.

But I just realized, like, God is literally blessing me with the day shift because he knows how much I freaking love the sunset and I love being able to go for sunset hikes and I haven’t really been able to do that,” Moody said to her 44,000 followers.

“And it’s just so sweet and so thoughtful and it really just made me look at this situation in such a different way, such a different light, so let this be a reminder that whatever challenge you’re going through, there’s probably something good about it.”

She signed off by panning to the spectacular sunset view.

Peace and love. Look at this view. So pretty. It’s so pretty.”

Moody posted on her Instagram Thursday that she was headed out on the hike, writing that she had about “five gallons of water” with her, Fox 10 Phoenix reported.

Friends describe Moody as someone with a big heart who felt most at home hiking the desert trails.

“She loves the outdoors. If you could put her somewhere where she would be happiest, it would be outside in nature,” her friend, Lauryn, told the outlet.

They also said she was an experienced hiker who was always prepared.

“She does hikes literally weekly like this, so she knows what to do,” Jessica, another one of her friends, said.

Her brother, Joel Moody wrote on Facebook that his sister was a “fierce competitor” who was “driven, putting her heart and mind to a goal and pursuing it relentlessly.”

“Hannah was also a nomad, a free spirit, searching for a place to belong and to call home after leaving our parents’ house,” he said. “She was a wanderer, journeying with companions, settling for a time, then moving on.”

Coast Guard releases video of moment Titan sub implosion sound reached surface

Video footage released this week of Wendy Rush — the wife of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who perished in the 2023 Titan sub implosion — features a noise “later correlated with the loss of communications and tracking,” that is now thought to have been the noise of the craft’s implosion reaching the ocean surface, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson said in an email to Fox News Digital, echoing the description posted with the video on dvidshub.net.

In the video, after the sound is heard, Wendy Rush seems to ask what it was, apparently still unaware of the tragedy.

The video was released Thursday as part of the USCG’s ongoing Marine Board of Investigation into the incident, the USCG spokesperson noted.

Former Biden diplomat explains what she thinks ‘free Palestine’ slogan has become

A former Biden diplomat declared on Thursday that the “free Palestine” slogan has become a “call for violence.”

Following the murder of two Israeli embassy staffers earlier this week, former Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism under President Joe Biden, Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, told CNN that no matter what “Free Palestine” meant originally, it has become a slogan urging violent attacks against Jewish people.

“I think there’s no question, whatever its initial intent and whatever people were saying initially or meant it, it has become a call for violence, and not violence against Israelis — which is wrong — but violence against Jews,” she told CNN “Inside Politics” host Dana Bash.

SHOOTING OF ISRAELI EMBASSY STAFFERS IS OUTGROWTH OF ANTISEMITISM ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES: BATYA UNGAR-SARGON

Israel embassy staffers Yaron Lischinsky, who has been identified as both Christian and Jewish in reports, and Sarah Milgrim were shot and killed while departing an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night. A man authorities identified as 31-year-old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago has been charged in the killings and faces the death penalty. Upon his arrest, Rodriguez screamed “free Palestine!”

Lipstadt told Bash that she “was not surprised” at the murders, saying that Jewish people are constantly on guard against such threats.

“There is no Jewish institution virtually in the world — but certainly in the United States — that doesn’t have security,” she said. “If you’re a Jewish young person, your normal is, whether you’re going to synagogue, going to the JCC [Jewish Community Center], you’re going to a film festival, that you’re going to have to go through security — that you have to be taken care of.”

Bash brought up the alleged murderer shouting “free Palestine” as well as those using the slogan at various anti-Israel protests on college campuses and other demonstrations throughout the country, and asked Lipstadt if she believes it encourages violence.

“You just heard the alleged killer saying, ‘free Palestine.’ We hear that on the streets. We hear that on college campuses. And there are a lot of people who feel, who have been worried that that has been turned into a call to arms and a call to action and violence. Others claim that it’s not. What do you think now that we have seen this?” she asked.

Lipstadt affirmed she believes it’s a call for violence now, even if it was intended in a different way before.

The former envoy continued, “And anybody who tries to separate the two and try to say, ‘Oh, I’m just against Israel’s policies in Palestine or in Gaza, and I’m not antisemitic,’ this was antisemitism pure and simple. That he happened to have killed two Israeli staff didn’t matter. It was a Jewish event, they were targets.”

Jessica Biel offers glimpse into Montana family life with Justin Timberlake and sons

Jessica Biel shared a rare glimpse into her home life with her husband Justin Timberlake and their children in rural Montana. Biel recently invited InStyle magazine to her home in the Rocky Mountains, where she posed for photos — including the outlet’s Summer Issue cover — and sat down for an interview.

The 43-year-old actress and the 45-year-old singer left Hollywood years ago and moved to Big Sky, Montana, where they are raising their two sons, Silas, 10, and Phineas, 4.

During her interview, Biel spoke candidly about the challenges of balancing her busy career and motherhood.

“Spending time with the family unit is a huge priority right now, because I’ve been gone, Justin’s been gone,” she said.

Biel explained that when she isn’t working or doing press, her typical Saturday involves skiing with Timberlake in the morning and later picking up their children at ski school before hitting the slopes as a family in the afternoon.

JESSICA BIEL ALMOST HIT HER BROTHER WITH PARENTS’ CAR ON THE SET OF ‘7TH HEAVEN’

“These moments at this time feel kind of priceless,” the “7th Heaven” alum said.

Biel explained that she and Timberlake split parenting and childcare duties when they are both at home with their sons.

“We’re doing the same thing every other parent is doing:‘Okay, tennis. You got the tennis? I’ll get the thing,’” she said.

Biel told InStyle that she feels fortunate to have a strong support system of family and friends to lean on while juggling her demanding work schedule and her parental duties.

“It really takes a village to raise any kid, let alone in a wild business like this where parents are traveling for long times for work,” she said.

The “Sinner” star noted that she and Timberlake strive to ensure that one parent is able to stay home with Silas and Phineas if the other is away working.

“Sometimes we do a good job; we try to have one of us working full-time, only one,” she said. “It doesn’t always happen, because the opportunities arise and the timing is what it is. You just have to take advantage of it.”

Biel is starring in the upcoming movie “Matchbox,” which is based on the Mattel toy brand of the same name. The film, which Mattel developed after the massive success of 2024’s “Barbie,” was filmed in Morocco, Slovakia and Hungary.

The actress told InStyle that the timing of the movie’s shoot ” couldn’t have been worse” as Timberlake was in the middle of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. She recalled that Silas and Phineas traveled to Europe to stay with her while she was filming the action-adventure comedy.

“We had our incredible [travel] teachers and our incredible nanny and our family helped out,” Biel said. “The kids are good, we’re good, it’s all positive; it’s just when you’re in the middle of it, you’re like, ”

However, Biel admitted that finding a balance as a working mom can be tough.

“It’s so hard,” she said. “I don’t do it very well all the time.”

The Emmy Award nominee went on to share the words of wisdom that she had received from her longtime producing partner, Michelle Purple.

“She said one thing to me a long time ago. She goes, ‘Listen, all you can do is: When you’re working, you’re 100-percent working, and when you’re home, you’re 100-percent home. Do not take a work call when you’re at home with the kids. If you do it half-a–, you’re not good at anything,'” Biel recalled. “That was a good piece of advice.”

In a video for InStyle, Biel reflected on what had most surprised her about being a parent.

“The thing that surprised me about being a parent, and surprised me about myself is that I actually might be the rule enforcer,” she said. “Sometimes. But it’s not really my style.”

“I just sort of thought ‘Justin’s going to be the rule enforcer and that’s the way it’s gonna be,'” the actress continued. “I’m a Pisces, I’m more emotional, gentle, easygoing and whatever, but I’m kind of good at it. I drop a boundary and I’m like ‘Nope, you can’t cross it.’ It took a while to learn that, but it’s an important skill to have.

“And sometimes he can be really soft about things. Which I didn’t expect!” Biel added. “We take turns, and I think that was surprising to me.”

The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, purchased their home in Blue Sky’s exclusive, gated community, Yellowstone Club, in 2015, shortly before they welcomed Silas. Biel gave birth to Phineas during the summer of 2020.

In 2021, Biel and Timberlake listed their Los Angeles mansion for $35 million, but the pair later took the home off the market. The pair sold their New York City penthouse for $29 million in 2022.

During a 2024 appearance on SiriusXM’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa,” Biel explained that they decided to make Montana their primary residence so they could raise their children away from the paparazzi.

“You get hammered on the East Coast. You kind of get hammered on the West Coast. That’s why we don’t really live there anymore,” she said. “We’re just trying to create some normalcy for these kids.”

“We want to share our family with our loved ones and friends and also, we understand that our job has this major public-facing element, so we understand that part of it, but also these kids didn’t choose this,” Biel continued.

“I don’t want to expose them in a way until they have an ability to make that decision for themself, you know?” she added. “This very social media world is where they exist and where they live and that will be a very big part of their life and their reality.”

“I just don’t want it to be on my account so we try to engage in a way that feels authentic, but also just not, you know, blasting them all over the place and no disrespect to anybody who feels comfortable doing that. That’s just our family choice.”

Though Silas and Phineas have made appearances on their parents’ social media platforms, Biel and Timberlake do not show their sons’ faces. While speaking with InStyle, Biel explained that she and Timberlake often face a dilemma when it comes to how much their children should be in the public eye.

“It’s a tricky one, a tricky balance. We do really try hard not to expose them in a way that they’re not comfortable with,” she said.

Silas made a rare public appearance last August when he accompanied Biel to the US Open tennis tournament in Queens, New York. Biel told InStyle that she had a conversation with Silas ahead of the event to gauge whether he was prepared for the inevitable media attention.

“My son was 9 at the time, and he’s a huge tennis fan — that’s his sport, that’s what he plays,” she said. “We had this opportunity, and we talked about it. We talked about photographers. You know, ‘Are you comfortable with that?’ He can’t make these decisions on his own, but at this point, we can at least discuss what’s his opinion around it.”

Biel explained why she ultimately decided to go through with the outing, telling InStyle, “You really want to give your kids every experience.”

“I don’t know if it was the right decision, to be honest with you, but he and I had a good time,” she added. ‘It’s scary every time. But it’s also their life. And so it’s this really tricky, tricky thing to figure out, what’s appropriate.”

Biel noted that she and Timberlake are also ambivalent over whether they should encourage Silas’ natural talent and interest in acting. “If he was a kid actor, he’d probably work all the time,” she said.

However, Biel told InStyle she would prefer that Silas wait until he is older to decide whether he wanted to follow in his parents’ footsteps.

“‘And when you’re 18 years old, you want to be professional? Have at it. That’s your choice.’ That’s what I would like to hold on to, if possible, for him, you know?” she said.

Fifth suspected accomplice arrested after allegedly helping New Orleans jail escapees

A fifth civilian was arrested on Thursday for allegedly helping two of the 10 inmates who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center on May 16.

Casey Smith, 30, is accused of helping two fugitives immediately after the jailbreak by transporting them to multiple locations.

According to a release from the New Orleans Police Department, she admitted to moving the escapees alongside Cortnie Harris, 31, who was arrested earlier this week.

Smith’s alleged involvement with the escapees was revealed amid an investigation conducted by the NOPD’s Special Operations Division Tactical II team, which uncovered evidence that linked Smith to the fugitives.

Authorities say she helped transport at least two of the escapees to multiple locations in the hours following their breakout.

Officers located Smith at a residence in the city’s Third District, where she was taken in for questioning. During the interview, Smith admitted to aiding in the transport of the escapees alongside Harris, police said.

Smith was arrested and booked for accessory after the fact to simple escape.

So far, five of the escapees have been found and arrested while five remain “unaccounted for,” police said.

Louisiana State Police announced Thursday that 59-year-old Connie Weeden of Slidell, Louisiana, has been taken into custody on one felony count of being an accessory after the fact.

According to state police, Weeden was in contact with escapee Jermaine Donald by phone both before and after his jailbreak. She also provided him with cash via a cell phone app after his escape.

Two other women, Cortnie Harris and Corvanntay Baptiste, were arrested and charged on Wednesday for allegedly being accessories after the fact in assisting the jailbreak.

A maintenance worker, Sterling Williams, was arrested and charged on Tuesday for allegedly cutting a prison cell’s water supply so the inmates could remove a toilet and escape through a hole behind it.

He was charged with 10 counts of principal to simple escape and one count of malfeasance in office for allegedly turning off the water in the cell from which the escapees fled. He is being held on $1.1 million bond, $100,000 per count, in the Plaquemines Parish Jail.

The following fugitives are still at large:

  • Lenton J. Vanburen Jr., 26, faces charges of illegal carrying of weapons, possession of a firearm or weapon by a felon, obstruction of justice, and introducing contraband in prison.
  • Jermaine Donald, 42, faces charges of second-degree murder, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm or weapon by a felon, and obstruction of justice.
  • Antoine Massey, 32, faces charges of domestic abuse involving strangulation, theft of a motor vehicle, and a parole violation.

Joel shared a personal comment at the time, writing, “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”

The “Uptown Girl” singer-songwriter’s wife, Alexis Roderick, previously spoke to Fox News Digital about her husband’s health challenges.

“He’s doing well,” she said in March. “It’s funny, I was just having this conversation the other day. He’s going to be 76. And I don’t think of him that way. People don’t think of him in that way, but he is. And he’s been doing this job nonstop for 15 years — just this recent run.”

She continued, “Sometimes your health has to take priority, and things have to get postponed. But really, in the grand scheme of things, he’s a healthy person, and he’s well and working on himself, trying to get better and do what he has to do medically. So it’s important, you know, we need him around so he has to do what he has to do.”

Alexis and the “Piano Man” singer-songwriter share daughters, Della and Remy. Joel is also father to daughter Alexa Ray, whom he shares with his ex-wife Christie Brinkley.

During Joel’s performance on Feb. 22 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, the singer-songwriter tripped after he tossed his mic stand to a crew member at the end of “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me,” but he quickly recovered, according to Rolling Stone.

In 2024, Joel released “Turn the Lights Back On,” his first new single since 2007.

That same year, he ended his 10-year residency at Madison Square Garden.

The automaker said in a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the multi-layer vent patch in the reverse light assemblies of the recalled 2022-2025 model year Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks “may separate over time due to thermal cycling, compromising the adhesive and allowing moisture to enter.” The moisture could lead to corrosion of the internal circuit board, connector or wire harness and cause a lamp to not illuminate.

Failure of the reverse lights in the trucks because of the issue could limit the driver’s rear visibility during “low ambient light conditions” and leave others on the road without a clear signal that the trucks are backing up, the recall report said.

The automaker said the recall “only affects the 2022-2025MY Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles equipped with reverse lamp assemblies of a specific design using a specific adhesive for the vent patch.”

Toyota said in a press release that it will inform affected Tundra and Tundra Hybrid owners of the issue and how the automaker is fixing it by mid-July. The recall report listed the notification date for owners of the potentially affected trucks as June 30 to July 14.

“Dealers will replace both reverse lamp assemblies with improved ones, free of charge,” the automaker said. “In addition, assembly wiring harnesses will be repaired for any subject vehicles identified to have corrosion that has extended into the wire harness connector, free of charge.”

Vehicle owners who have already paid to fix the reverse lights on the recalled vehicles should “seek reimbursement pursuant to Toyota’s General Reimbursement Plan,” the recall report said.
