Harris fumed over Biden wearing Trump hat, saying it was ‘completely unhelpful’
Former Vice President Kamala Harris was angry over former President Biden donning a Trump 2024 hat during an event in September 2024, which quickly went viral on social media at the time, according to Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s new book.
“What is he doing?” the former vice president asked her team in response to the video, according to the book. “This is completely unhelpful. And so unnecessary.”
A video of the former president donning a Trump 2024 hat went viral in September 2024. A video of Biden at the Shanksville Fire Station in Pennsylvania showed the president taking the Trump 2024 campaign hat from a Trump supporter and putting it on top of his own hat, in what the White House said at the time was a friendly gesture of unity.
According to the book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” that was the last time Harris would do a public event with Biden prior to the election.
BIDEN UNDERMINES HARRIS CLAIM THAT RON DESANTIS IS POLITICIZING HURRICANE RESPONSE: ‘DOING A GREAT JOB’
“But it was not the last time that Biden did something unhelpful,” the authors wrote.
The former president also called Trump supporters “garbage” during a campaign call for Harris.
“Donald Trump has no character. He doesn’t give a damn about the Latino community,” Biden said. “Just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage.
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American,” the former president said.

Harris attempted to distance herself from the remarks.
“I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for,” Harris said. “You heard my speech last night and continuously throughout my career. I believe that the work that I do is about representing all the people, whether they support me or not.”
The book also revealed that the former president recorded several 2024 campaign videos that were ultimately deemed “unusable” due to his missteps.

In one case, Biden’s team sought to film a video for the campaign for ads on television in a high school gym where people could ask questions like they would at a town hall meeting.
“The campaign was trying to make it look like the president was out there taking off-the-cuff questions from voters in public,” the book said. “But the event was closed to reporters, and the campaign had the full list of questions that people would ask.”
However, Biden had so much “trouble” getting through the questions that his team decided to scrap the footage. While some attributed challenges to poor lighting in the gym, the book said that others identified Biden as the real problem.

Trump shares major update after threatening to impose 50% tariffs on EU
President Donald Trump has agreed to a request for an extension on a proposed 50% tariff on imports from the European Union, which he initially threatened would go into effect on June 1.
In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump said he received a call from European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen requesting an extension on the June 1 tariff hike.
“I agreed to the extension — July 9, 2025 — It was my privilege to do so,” Trump wrote. “The Commission President said that talks will begin rapidly. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
TRUMP PUSHES BACK: PROPOSED 50% TARIFF ON EU SET TO START JUNE 1
While speaking to reporters on Sunday at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey, Trump said von der Leyen called him and said she wants to have a “serious negotiation.”
“July 9th was the date she requested. … And I agreed to do that,” Trump said. “[von der Leyen] said we will rapidly get together and see if we can work something out.”
SCOTT BESSENT SAYS TRUMP WANTS TO ‘LIGHT A FIRE’ UNDER APPLE, EU WITH NEW TARIFF THREATS
Von der Leyen also took to X to say she had a “good call” with Trump and that Europe is “ready to advance talks swiftly and decisively.”
On Friday, Trump threatened to impose a 50% tariff on imports from the European Union amid ongoing trade negotiations.
“Their powerful Trade Barriers, Vat Taxes, ridiculous Corporate Penalties, Non-Monetary Trade Barriers, Monetary Manipulations, unfair and unjustified lawsuits against Americans Companies, and more, have led to a Trade Deficit with the U.S. of more than $250,000,000 a year, a number which is totally unacceptable,” Trump said. “…Therefore, I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025.”
MUSK SAYS HE HOPES FOR ‘ZERO TARIFFS,’ FREEDOM OF TRADE ZONE BETWEEN US AND EUROPE
The EU tariff threat came after Vice President JD Vance met with von der Leyen and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on May 18.
Earlier this week, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said President Donald Trump is trying to “light a fire” under the European Union.

“I would hope that this would light a fire under the EU, because… I’ve said before, [the] EU has a collective action problem here,” Bessent said on “America’s Newsroom”. “It’s 27 countries, but they’re being represented by this one group in Brussels. So some of the feedback that I’ve been getting is that the underlying countries don’t even know what the EU is negotiating on their behalf.”
Seattle mayor blames Christian rally for provoking counter-protest violence
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell blamed a Christian rally and infiltrating “anarchists” for violence breaking out at a counter-protest on Saturday.
The Seattle Police Department reported 23 people were arrested at Cal Anderson Park during MayDayUSA’s “Don’t Mess With Our Kids” rally and a pro-LGBTQ counter-protest. According to SPD, police witnessed “multiple people inside one group throw items at the opposing group” and, while arresting individuals, were assaulted by other individuals, leading to an officer requiring medical treatment.
After the scuffle broke out, Harrell’s office released a statement defending the LGBTQ community and criticizing the “far-right rally” for provoking the violent reaction.
“Seattle is proud of our reputation as a welcoming, inclusive city for LGBTQ+ communities, and we stand with our trans neighbors when they face bigotry and injustice,” the statement read. “Today’s far-right rally was held here for this very reason – to provoke a reaction by promoting beliefs that are inherently opposed to our city’s values, in the heart of Seattle’s most prominent LGBTQ+ neighborhood.”
BLUE STATE MAYOR PROPOSES CITY ORDINANCE TO STRENGTHEN TRANSGENDER CARE PROTECTIONS IN THE FACE OF TRUMP EOS
He continued, “Anarchists infiltrated the counter-protestors group and inspired violence, prompting SPD to make arrests and ask organizers to shut down the event early, which they did.”
Harrell added his support for people who peacefully protest an “extreme right-wing national effort to attack our trans and LGBTQ+ communities.” He also suggested an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the approval of MayDayUSA’s initial event.
“While there are broad First Amendment requirements around permitting events under free speech protections, I am directing the Parks Department to review all of the circumstances of this application to understand whether there were legal location alternatives or other adjustments that could have been pursued,” the statement read. “The Police Department will complete an after-action report of this event, including understanding preparation, crowd management tactics, and review of arrests and citations.”
SEATTLE PRIDE FACES BUDGET SHORTFALL AS CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS DWINDLE AMID ANTI-DEI SHIFT
Fox News Digital reached out to the mayor’s office for a comment.
Local news outlets reported seeing counter-protesters from groups like the Seattle Democratic Socialists of America shouting at rallygoers and calling them “fascist scum” and arrests occurring as quickly as a half-hour into the event.
SPD did not clarify which side of the protest had initiated violence and didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
MayDayUSA is on a five-city tour holding religious rallies to, as event co-sponsor Jenny Donnelly said, “stand for our children, restore the family unit, and proclaim the gospel of Jesus.”

‘Duck Dynasty’ star Phil Robertson ‘with the Lord’ after his death at age 79
“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has died at the age of 79, his family announced on Sunday.
Robertson, famous for founding the Duck Commander hunting company that became the focus of his A&E show, had previously battled multiple health conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease. The TV personality’s daughter-in-law Korie Robertson announced his death on Instagram Sunday night.
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” Korie Robertson’s post read.
“He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him,” the post continued.
‘DUCK DYNASTY’ STAR PHIL ROBERTSON FORCES HIMSELF TO EAT AS HE BATTLES ALZHEIMER’S, PLANS TO ‘KEEP THE FAITH’
Korie Robertson added that the family will have a private service but will share details “about a public celebration of his life.”
“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus,” she added. “We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.”
Years before becoming famous on television, Robertson played football at Louisana Tech. He was a starting quarterback while NFL legend Terry Bradshaw was his backup.
Robertson later founded Duck Commander in 1972. The “Duck Dynasty” television show premiered 40 years later, in 2012, before it ended in 2017.
During a December episode of “Unashamed with the Robertson Family,” Robertson’s diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease was announced. His son Willie Robertson later spoke with Fox News Digital by phone, saying that Phil was “battling a lot of different things right now.”
‘DUCK DYNASTY’ STAR PHIL ROBERTSON DIAGNOSED WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
“He’s got a blood disorder, and then he’s got the mental issues that could be early [on-set] Alzheimer’s … and probably some ministrokes because of his blood,” Willie explained. “And so, it could be some stroke stuff happening, that has happened. So, we’re still checking on all that.”
“But then he also has a back issue. He’s fractured his back and that’s where the pain’s at. So, he’s kind of battling many different things at the same time.”
In April, Robertson’s family members opened up about the patriarch’s health condition again, which appeared grim.
“The No. 1 question I get everywhere I go [is], ‘How’s your dad doing?’ Now, I’m just giving the blunt truth. I say, ‘Not good,'” son Jase Robertson said.

Police search residence for New Orleans jailbreak escapee, make 5 arrests
Police made five more arrests in connection with a prison break in New Orleans this weekend, Fox News has learned.
The five arrests make a total of 12 people who have been accused of helping the inmates either before, during or after their escape from the New Orleans Jail last week.
The arrests include 28-year-old Lenika Vanburen, 18-year-old Patricia Vanburen, 27-year-old Tyshanea “Minnie” Randolph, 47-year-old Lenton Vanburen Sr., and 40-year-old Angel McKey. A source confirmed to Fox News that Vanburen Sr. is the father of one of the escaped inmates, Lenton Vanburen Jr.
Authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in New Orleans’ 7th District in hopes to find the fugitive Vanburen, but he was not there.

The five individuals arrested this weekend were accused of specifically assisting the younger Vanburen in evading the police.
LOUISIANA POLICE ARREST THIRD ACCOMPLICE IN ORLEANS PARISH JAILBREAK

As of Sunday, five of the 10 escaped inmates remain at large.
The most recent arrest was made when Corey Boyd was taken into custody Tuesday.
The other inmates recaptured are Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis and Gary Price.

Actor’s final film to premiere after murder by suspected gang members last year
One year after beloved “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor was murdered in downtown Los Angeles after a work shift, his final film is set to premiere at the upcoming 2025 Dances with Films Festival.
Wactor, 37, was shot and killed on May 25, 2024, when police said he was “confronted by three individuals” who had his car “raised up with a floor jack and were in the process of stealing the catalytic converter.”
The actor’s final work was filmed in 2022, according to FOX 11, but is now about to hit the big screen.
Friends and family of Wactor confirmed to the outlet that the film, “Ciao, Mama,” will premiere at L.A.’s Dances with Films Festival on June 24 at TCL Cinemas in Hollywood.
‘GENERAL HOSPITAL’ STAR JOHNNY WACTOR’S FUNERAL HELD IN SOUTH CAROLINA AFTER HIS FATAL SHOOTING IN LOS ANGELES
“It’s really important to me, and his family, that his legacy lives on for the incredible things he brought to the world,” fellow actor and friend, Micah Joe Parker, told FOX 11.
Parker described the movie to the outlet, saying it was about family, friendship and love, something he believes is directly correlated with his late best friend’s life.
Wactor was working at Level 8, a rooftop bar, and was leaving work with his co-worker, Anita Joy, in the early hours of May 25 last year when the fatal altercation took place.
In a previous interview with the Daily Mail, Joy said staff had been complaining for months over the lack of parking available to them but that their concerns were brushed off.
‘GENERAL HOSPITAL’ ACTOR JOHNNY WACTOR’S DEATH LEAVES CAST ‘SICKENED’: ‘HE WAS TRULY ONE OF A KIND’
According to Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, her son had protected Joy in his final moments of life.
“They were walking to their car, and when they get there, Johnny’s car, which was parked in front of the co-worker’s, looked like it was jacked to one side, and from what I understand, he said, ‘Hey, man, you towing my car?’… And the person looked up and had a mask, and so then I guess he knew they weren’t doing that, and so he stepped in front of the co-worker and then backed up and put his hands up or both, and the person shot him,” Scarlett Wactor previously told Fox News Digital.
“He had no problem stepping into the fray,” Parker echoed. “It’s how he went out from this world, stepping in front of his friend to take a bullet. [When that happened] I said, I’ll take the swings and arrows for him now.”
Days following the murder, Joy shared harrowing details about the events that led to his death on her Instagram page.
“I’ve needed to take some time to collect myself and my thoughts. I was with Johnny in his last moments, and I’m here to be his voice after such unimaginable events,” she wrote. “He was killed senselessly by a coward who reacted without care of the gorgeous life he was taking,” she wrote in her post. “I’m angry, I’m sad, and I’m all the feelings at once, but above all, I am here for Johnny’s justice.”
JOHNNY WACTOR’S MOTHER SAYS HER SON’S DEATH ‘DOESN’T NEED TO BE IN VAIN’
Nearly three months after Wactor’s murder, police arrested four suspected Florencia 13 gang members in connection with his slaying.
“Johnny was a victim,” said Parker. “He was a victim of this crime, but he lived his life as anything but a victim. He was a doer. He was a dreamer. So, that’s where we’re turning the page now.”

Wactor got his start on television in the series “Army Wives” before appearing in other shows like “Animal Kingdom,” “Criminal Minds” and “Westworld.”
He was best known for his role as Brando Corbin in 164 episodes of “General Hospital” from 2020 to 2022.
Corporate dropout sails to Hawaii with cat, tells former employers ‘I won’
An Oregon man who amassed millions of social media followers as he documented his journey of sailing to Hawaii with his cat arrived safely in the Aloha State on Saturday.
After docking on the island of Oahu, Oliver Widger, 29, was greeted by cheering fans, as well as Hawaii Gov. Josh Green. Green presented him with an official proclamation at the Waikiki Yacht Club, according to the Associated Press.
TIRED OF CORPORATE AMERICA, MAN QUITS JOB, CASHES OUT 401(K) AND SAILS INTO FREEDOM – NOW HE’S A TIKTOK STAR
“Dear Corporate America, I won,” Widger wrote in a celebratory Instagram post on Saturday.
Following his 24-day journey at sea, Widger admitted he was nervous facing the crowd of newfound fans and said he had to “hold on to things to not fall over.”
Widger — known as @sailing_with_phoenix on his social media platforms — began his sailing journey to Hawaii with his cat Phoenix in late April. He now has more than 1.7 million followers on Instagram and more than 1 million followers on TikTok.
US WORKERS STAYING PUT AS FEWER QUIT THEIR JOBS
“I think a lot of people are, you know, you’re grinding at your job all day long, and it doesn’t really matter how much money you make at this point, everybody’s just trying to do enough to get by and that just wears you out,” Widger said. “It’s just the world’s in a weird place, and I think people have seen that it’s possible to break out.”
The online sensation was inspired to make a change about a year ago, after he was diagnosed with Klippel–Feil syndrome and said he felt tired of working in corporate America.
HOW TO SAVE UP FOR A BOAT WITHOUT DROWNING IN DEBT
“I run the risk of going paralyzed,” Widger told Fox Business in an exclusive interview earlier this month. “The way the doctor described it is, I have a spine of somebody who’s like 115 years old… Hearing that kind of just shook up my world.”
Widger quit his 11-year career at a tire company, liquidated his 401(k) and sold his belongings to buy a $50,000 sailboat with no prior sailing experience. He taught himself how to sail with the help of YouTube videos, AP reported.
While sailing the more than 2,000 miles from Oregon to Hawaii, Widger said he never felt completely alone as he was able to maintain communication with friends with the help of technology. The scariest part of the trip was when a rudder failed, he said.
For his next adventure, Widger said he may sail to French Polynesia, but he needs to first make repairs to his boat.
“With no formal training—just courage, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart — Oliver set sail from Oregon in search of something deeper,” Green said in an Instagram post. “His journey reminds us of the voyaging spirit that lives in all of us: the drive to explore, to grow, and to trust the ocean.”
