FBI offers $50K reward in search for suspect accused of attacking federal officer in LA

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is searching for a suspect accused of assaulting a federal officer and damaging government property during the anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles.

The agency is seeking the public’s assistance, offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.

On Saturday at about 3:30 p.m., the suspect allegedly threw rocks at law enforcement vehicles on Alondra Blvd. in Paramount, California, resulting in injury to a federal officer and damage to government vehicles.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

Patel promises FBI coming for anyone assaulting cops as Los Angeles erupts over ICE raids

FBI Director Kash Patel warned Saturday night, “if you assault a law enforcement officer, you’re going to jail—period.”

“It doesn’t matter where you came from, how you got here, or what cause you claim to represent,” Patel told Fox News Digital. “If local jurisdictions won’t stand behind the men and women who wear the badge, the FBI will.”

Patel also issued similar warnings on social media.

“Doesn’t matter where you came from, how you got here, or what movement speaks to you. If the local police force won’t back our men and women on the thin blue line, we @FBI will,” Patel wrote Saturday night on X.

On Sunday, the FBI head said Los Angeles is “under siege” amid the demonstrations against deportations and ICE raids targeting migrant workers at local businesses.

“Just so we are clear, this FBI needs no one’s permission to enforce the constitution'” Patel wrote on X. “My responsibility is to the American people, not political punch lines. LA is under siege by marauding criminals, and we will restore law and order. I’m not asking you, I’m telling you.”

NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS ARRIVE IN LOS ANGELES AMID VIOLENT ANTI-ICE PROTESTS

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino also warned protesters who engage in violence that the agency will be pursuing “all available leads for assault on a federal officer, in addition to the many arrests already made.”

“Although we’ll pursue every case, we don’t need to catch every single perp, we just need to catch you,” Bongino wrote Sunday on X. “A short time ago, the Director and I notified our teams to use all of our investigative and technological tools to pursue you long after order is firmly established. We will not forget. Even after you try to.”

The Trump administration has also taken over the National Guard and deployed troops in Los Angeles to respond to demonstrations. The president has also threatened to send active-duty Marines.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, has denounced the federal government’s move to deploy the National Guard and has requested that the administration rescind its deployment of troops and return them to his command. The governor said the state will file a lawsuit against the administration over the federal deployment.

“Trump is trying to manufacture a crisis in LA County — deploying troops not for order, but to create chaos,” Newsom wrote Sunday on X. “Don’t take the bait. Never use violence or harm law enforcement.”

“President Trump is escalating the situation by threatening to deploy roughly 500 active-duty Marines to the streets of Los Angeles,” he said in another post. “Los Angeles: Remain peaceful. Don’t fall into the trap that extremists are hoping for.”

Newsom added in another post that Trump “wants chaos and he’s instigated violence.”

“Those who assault law enforcement or cause property damage will risk arrest,” he wrote. “Stay peaceful. Stay focused. Don’t give him the excuse he’s looking for.”

Los Angeles Democrat mayor Karen Bass has also urged the administration to end the federal deployment.

ABC News correspondent suspended after anti-Trump comments shows a pattern of behavior

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Before ABC News correspondent Terry Moran was suspended for a now-deleted social media post attacking President Donald Trump and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, he had a lengthy history of slamming the president on air.

“Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater,” Moran wrote in a now-deleted X post on Sunday. “You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”

“Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only [sic] a means to an end, and that end his[sic] his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment,” Moran continued.

This was only the latest example of Moran blasting Trump since his first term in 2017.

TRUMP’S INTERVIEW ON ABC TURNS FIERY WHEN DISCUSSING APPROACH TO TARIFFS, DEPORTATIONS

More recently, Moran garnered attention from his fiery interview in April with Trump to mark his first 100 days in office. Moran repeatedly argued and pushed back on the president on several topics, including Trump’s tariffs and immigration.

This led to Trump calling out Moran in the middle of the interview.

“They’re giving you the big break of a lifetime,” Trump told Moran. “You’re doing the interview, I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you, but that’s okay. I picked you, Terry, but you’re not being very nice.”

In 2021, Moran went as far as to refer to Trump as a “Führer” in the Republican Party.

“[Trump] has the Republican Party as a personalized power like we haven’t seen,” he said. “It’s a caudillo, it’s a Caesar, it’s a Führer. We don’t see that in this country. We do now.”

Moran also invoked Nazi-adjacent comparisons when describing Trump after his first inaugural speech in January 2017.

“[I]t carries with it overtones from the 1930s when an anti-Semitic movement saying, ‘We don’t want to get involved in Europe’s war. It’s the Jews’ fault in Germany!’ Charles Lindbergh led them. It is a term, as he defined it his way, but the words carry ugly echoes in our history,” Moran said.

In 2018, Moran appeared to joke about the idea of Trump’s funeral during coverage of former President George H.W. Bush’s funeral proceedings.

ABC’S TERRY MORAN SAYS TRUMP ‘WEAPONIZED’ WUHAN LAB-LEAK THEORY, MAKING SUBJECT OF COVID ORIGINS ‘RADIOACTIVE’

“First, he’s going to choreograph it. So, there might be more trumpets and fanfare… It will be the best presidential funeral ever. No one will ever have seen anything like that funeral,” Moran said.

In a statement to Fox News Digital on Sunday, an ABC spokesperson said, “ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others. The [X] post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards — as a result, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation.”

ABC News itself came under fire for alleged political bias last August after Dana Walden, a senior Disney executive whose portfolio includes ABC News, was scrutinized by the New York Times for her decades-long friendship with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. The report came just one month before Harris’ first and only debate with Trump in September.

Israeli forces early Monday detained an aid boat bound for Gaza while carrying Greta Thunberg and other activists.

The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed that it detained the Madleen, along with all its passengers, and diverted the vessel to Israel.

A video from the ministry posted on X shows an Israeli Navy officer engaging with the approaching “selfie yacht.”

ISRAEL VOWS TO ‘ACT ACCORDINGLY’ AS THUNBERG SAILS TOWARD GAZA ON PALESTINIAN-FLAGGED VESSEL

“Using an international civilian communication system, the Israeli Navy has instructed the ‘selfie yacht’ to change its course due to its approach toward a restricted area,” a post from the ministry read.

The video shows a Navy officer telling them that the maritime of the Gaza coast is closed to traffic. She instructs the activists on board that they must deliver aid through established channels.

The Israel Foreign Ministry said the passengers were “safe and unharmed” and had been provided sandwiches and water.

“The show is over,” the ministry said.

Israel had vowed to stop the so-called Freedom Flotilla Coalition in the days leading up to its arrival.

THIRD ROUND OF HOSTAGE RELEASES BEGINS AS PART OF HAMAS’ GAZA CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT WITH ISRAEL

Thunberg, a 22-year-old climate activist from Sweden, set sail aboard the Madleen last week, hoisting a Palestinian flag with 11 other activists, including “Game of Thrones” actor Liam Cunningham and Rima Hassa, a French member of the European Parliament who is of Palestinian descent.

The groups’ aim was to reach the shores of the Gaza Strip to bring in some aid and raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis there.

According to the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, the aid on the ship was less than a single truckload.

“The tiny amount of aid that was on the yacht and not consumed by the ‘celebrities’ will be transferred to Gaza through real humanitarian channels,” the ministry said.

Dem Reps AOC, Meng silent as ‘Avenue of the Sweethearts’ thrives in their districts

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The red lights are back flashing along a notorious prostitution strip in New York City represented by progressive Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Grace Meng.

Along the crammed, grimy sidewalks of Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, sex workers are once again openly soliciting clients while vendors grill meats and hawk suspected stolen or counterfeit goods – despite police waging a months-long crackdown to stop the chaos.

It’s become a way of life – and a years-long blight – for residents in the migrant-dense neighborhood who say they have grown tired of calling on Ocasio-Cortez and Meng to act and liken conditions to a “Red Light district” or a third-world flea market. Others have nicknamed the strip the “Avenue of the Sweethearts,” given its reputation for women purportedly turning tricks.

LEADERS IN AOC’S ‘RED LIGHT’ DISTRICT CALL ON KASH PATEL TO CRUSH ‘WORSENING’ GANG CRIME AND PROSTITUTION

“All the criminal activity has reverted to the way it was last year,” Ramses Frias, a local activist and Republican City Council candidate, told Fox News Digital. “Our residents feel like prisoners in their own homes while criminals walk freely, preying on helpless victims.”

He said gangs like the 18th Street gang and Tren de Aragua are suspected of operating in the area since various spots are graffititagged with their insignia.

Fox News Digital visited Roosevelt Avenue after Ocasio-Cortez’s town hall last month and witnessed as many as 30 women on one block appearing to offer sex for money to Friday night revelers while parents and children walked by.

The women were jostling men and enticing them for sex despite a visible police presence nearby. Most women operate on Meng’s side of the strip; the majority of vendors are on Ocasio-Cortez’s side, with their district border running through the center of the street.

Hours before the town hall, other sidewalks were jammed with vendors flogging counterfeit Apple headphones and watches and tools. Food vendors sizzled meats at vendor stalls and kept juices in massive, unlabeled canisters under the gritty subway underpass – devoid of any labels or apparent sanitation or health and safety standards. Fruit and ice-cream stalls also permeated the busy strip.

Fox News Digital returned to the neighborhood on Friday and witnessed much of the same rampant prostitution and illegal vending. Additionally, several women were threading eyebrows along a sidewalk on a commercial street just off Roosevelt Avenue, while men were selling sneakers from cars and other food vendors were seen dumping wastewater down drains.

Residents have warned for months that Operation Restore Roosevelt – a 90-day enhanced police crime crackdown on the area which started in October – needed to be made permanent and that the warming weather would likely see more scantily-clad women appear on the streets.

WATCH: New York City block becomes open-air brothel with alleged prostitutes working in the open

NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry told Fox News Digital that the boots-on-the-ground operation, which consisted of more than 200 additional police officers, reduced crime by 29% in the area so far this year and significantly reduced criminal activity.

“There has been a notable difference,” Daughtry said. “Robberies are down 23%, felony assaults are down 33%, burglaries are down 47%, and grand larceny is down 30%.”

Daughtry said he wants the work to have “a real, lasting difference,” while saying that a lot still needs to be done. He said 15 brothels were raided out of 30 court filings made by the police.

AOC’S ‘RED LIGHT’ DISTRICT OVERRUN WITH PROSTITUTES AS LOCALS CALL OUT MIA ‘SQUAD’ MEMBER

For instance, days after Ocasio-Cortez’s town hall, authorities shut down a notorious brothel, dubbed the “bodega brothel” by locals, which was operating above a corner store near two schools in Ocasio-Cortez’s district. Video from inside the cat house obtained by Fox News Digital shows squalid conditions, with five cramped, makeshift rooms sectioned off by wooden panels and shower curtains with just enough room to fit a bed in every one of them.

On Tuesday, two brothels were raided by police on Meng’s side of Roosevelt Avenue, the same block where Fox News Digital observed 30 alleged prostitutes. Frias said a large crowd gathered to watch the sweep, some heckling the alleged johns as they were cuffed and taken into custody while suspected prostitutes were led out with their heads covered in shower curtains to shield their identities.

Frias said the crowd reaction proved the neighborhood is fully aware of the illicit activity and is fed up, but that three to four other brothels are operating on that same block. Frias added that residents are terrified to walk the streets and would rather stay home than step outside.

“Our laws need to become stricter, and it’s time to elect representatives who have the best interests of the community and its safety as a priority,” said Frias, who’s looking to oust City Council member Shekar Krishnan in District 25. He blasted Ocasio-Cortez in particular, saying she has never used her massive social media presence to address the dire situation.

Daughtry, too, called on Ocasio-Cortez and Meng to do more. He and the mayor’s office said the pair did not collaborate with them in the police crackdown.

“Never seen her,” Daughtry said about Ocasio-Cortez. “She’s never reached out to us. We would really love her assistance to help us, but at the end of the day, we have to do what’s right and restore some law and order back to Roosevelt. I would like AOC to partner with us… use her platform to help us get funding or connect women to services.”

AOC’S ‘RED LIGHT DISTRICT’ PLAGUED BY CRIME AS DEMOCRAT WHO HELPED HER RISE TO POWER SAYS SHE ‘DISAPPEARED’

Daughtry said issues like prostitution have permeated the area for decades, and he remembers it being a hot spot for prostitution in the ’90s. He said the migrant crisis exacerbated the situation as many migrants were drawn to the area, given that it already has a large Latin American population.

Mayor Eric Adams spearheaded Operation Restore Roosevelt in collaboration with the NYPD and City Council member Francisco Moya, a moderate Democrat who has often been at odds with his party’s progressive wing. Daughtry said Moya was a “huge partner” who physically walked Roosevelt Avenue with him and participated in raids, as did Adams.

Adams’ office said the operation underscored the administration’s commitment to “making sure these crime and quality-of-life issues continue to improve.”

Meng, meanwhile, told Fox News Digital she is working with local law enforcement and Moya on the matter and described the situation as “concerning.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s office told Fox News Digital that she has engaged with local stakeholders in the area and helped fix lights in the neighborhood.

The situation on Roosevelt Avenue was not raised by Ocasio-Cortez at her town hall, nor by constituents who spoke in a question-and-answer portion.

Residents Andrew Sokolof Diaz and John Szewczuk told Fox News Digital outside the event that the Roosevelt Avenue problem is a long-standing issue and that local lawmakers must do more to address it.

Resident Mark LaVergne pinned much of the blame on Ocasio-Cortez for not doing more and said he felt many of the women were likely trafficked into that murky underground world

“I feel very sad… There’s a Dunkin’ Donuts I frequent on Roosevelt and 82nd Street and I noticed that above that there is some sort of thing going on, and I see the look in the eyes of these sex workers,” LaVergne said.

“I really feel sorry for them. Some of them are here, probably under difficult situations. Maybe they were forced here, maybe they’re forced to do this kind of work. You’ve got to take care of the people that’ll get you elected. I mean, that just seems like the most just thing. That’s justice. Taking care of the people who got you elected.”

CBS’ Pelley speaks out on potential Trump settlement, apology

“60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley spoke out about President Donald Trump‘s lawsuit against CBS and its parent company on Saturday, arguing that a settlement would be “very damaging.”

“Well, it’d be very damaging to CBS, to Paramount, to the reputation of those companies,” Pelley said during a conversation with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Saturday, who asked how harmful a settlement and potential apology would be to the network.

Trump filed a lawsuit against Paramount Global, CBS News’ parent company, over a “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris in October 2024. Fox News Digital confirmed that Trump rejected a $15 million offer to settle his lawsuit, according to a source familiar with the matter, as the president’s legal team is also demanding at least $25 million and an apology from CBS News.

Cooper, who is also a correspondent on “60 Minutes,” also asked Pelley about former show producer Bill Owens resigning from the program in April.

CBS NEWS CEO WENDY MCMAHON ABRUPTLY RESIGNS, CITES DISAGREEMENT WITH COMPANY AMID ‘CHALLENGING’ PERIOD

“Bill‘s decision to resign may not have been much of a decision for him because he was always the first person to defend the independence of ‘60 minutes.’ Bill didn‘t work for Paramount. Bill worked for our viewers, and he felt very keenly about that. And so I‘m not sure Bill had any choice, once the corporation began to meddle in Bill‘s decisions about the editorial content, or just place pressure in that area, Bill felt that he didn‘t have the independence that honest journalism requires,” Pelley said.

Pelley also said he wished he had the public backing of CBS News, but added that his work was still making it onto the program.

“You really wish the company was behind you 100%, right? You really wish the top echelons of the company would come out publicly and say ’60 Minutes’, for example, is a crown jewel of American journalism, and we stand behind it 100%. I haven‘t heard that. On the other hand, my work is getting on the air, and I have not had anyone outside ‘60 Minutes’ put their thumb on the scale and say, ‘you can‘t say that. You should say this. You have to edit the story in this way. You should interview this person.’ None of that has happened. So while I would like to have that public backing, maybe the more important thing is the work is still getting on the air,” Pelley said.

The “60 Minutes” correspondent recently went viral for calling out Trump during a commencement address.

’60 MINUTES’ PRODUCER DEFIANT AS CBS PARENT COMPANY MULLS SETTLING TRUMP LAWSUIT: ‘I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE’

“In this moment, this moment, this morning, our sacred rule of law is under attack. Journalism is under attack. Universities are under attack. Freedom of speech is under attack,” Pelley said during his commencement speech at Wake Forest University. “And insidious fear is reaching through our schools, our businesses, our homes and into our private thoughts, the fear to speak in America. If our government is, in Lincoln’s phrase, ‘Of the people, by the people, for the people,’ then why are we afraid to speak?”

Pelley addressed the remarks during the CNN interview and told Cooper that he felt “strongly” it needed to be said.

“I don‘t refer to him or the president or the White House or the administration. But I was talking about actions that have been taken by the government over these last many months. But, there was a little bit of hysteria among some about this speech, and I simply ask you, what does it say about our country when there’s hysteria about a speech that’s about freedom of speech?” the CBS correspondent added.

Experts warn Americans are missing mineral affecting 300 bodily functions

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Magnesium is said to be a natural remedy for a variety of ailments — but is it really necessary to supplement, and if so, how much do you need?

Fox News Digital spoke to multiple health experts about the multipurpose mineral, which plays a role in over 300 of the body’s enzyme systems and helps with energy production, muscle and nerve function, and blood pressure regulation.

Magnesium may help lower the risk of certain diseases and could help to improve sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, and prevent nighttime muscle cramps, sources said.

COMMON SUPPLEMENTS AND MEDICATIONS COULD CAUSE LIVER DAMAGE, STUDIES SHOW

The nutrient “supports a stable heartbeat and prevents arrhythmias, works with calcium and vitamin D to keep bones strong, and aids insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism,” Dr. Heather Viola, a primary care physician with Mount Sinai Health System in New York City, told Fox News Digital.

Magnesium can also help with constipation relief, migraine prevention and PMS symptoms, according to Eleana Quattrocchi, a pharmacist and associate professor of pharmacy practice at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York.

Signs of magnesium deficiency

Many Americans do not get enough magnesium in their diet, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Dietary Supplements.

“Habitually low intakes of magnesium induce changes in biochemical pathways that can increase the risk of illness over time,” the NIH website states.

Studies have shown that up to 15% of people in the U.S. could experience magnesium deficiency.

COMMON DAILY VITAMIN COULD SLOW BIOLOGICAL AGING, MAJOR STUDY SUGGESTS

Lack of magnesium can raise the risk of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, migraine headaches and osteoporosis.

Potential symptoms include insomnia, muscle cramps, constipation, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, weakness, numbness, tingling, personality changes and heart arrhythmias, experts say.

In severe cases, hypocalcemia (low calcium levels) or hypokalemia (low potassium levels) might occur, according to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements.

Blood tests can help detect low levels, but Viola cautioned that those tests “aren’t perfect” because most magnesium is inside cells, not in serum.

Studies have shown that up to 15% of people in the U.S. could experience magnesium deficiency.

Certain medical conditions, alcoholism, some medications and a diet lacking in the mineral may contribute to magnesium deficiency.

“People with gastrointestinal disease, such as Celiac disease or Crohn’s disease, or those who have had a gastric bypass may develop magnesium deficiency,” Sue-Ellen Anderson-Haynes, a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a registered dietitian who owns 360Girls&Women in Massachusetts, told Fox News Digital.

How much magnesium do you need?

The recommended daily dietary intake of magnesium is 310 to 320 mg per day for adult women and 400 to 420 mg per day for adult men.

“The majority of magnesium is found in plants liked nuts, seeds and beans,” Anderson-Haynes told Fox News Digital. “For reference, 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of pumpkin seeds provides 156 mg of magnesium and 1 ounce of chia seeds is 111 mg (26% DV) of magnesium.”

COMMON HOUSEHOLD SPICE MAY INTERFERE WITH MEDICINES, STUDY SUGGESTS

Some specific sources of magnesium include peanut butter, bananas, avocado, nuts (almonds), black beans, leafy greens (like spinach and kale), whole grains, yogurt and dark chocolate.

While dietary sources are the best way to meet daily magnesium requirements, supplements are recommended in certain cases, health experts told Fox News Digital.

“A supplement should be taken when a known deficiency or a health condition is present with excessive magnesium losses, like alcoholism,” Samantha Dieras, a registered dietitian and director of ambulatory nutrition services at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, told Fox News Digital.

Physicians may recommend supplements for magnesium-deficient patients or for individuals who are taking certain medications, such as diuretics or Proton pump inhibitors that can deplete magnesium, Viola noted.

It is possible to ingest too much supplementation.

“You can get too much magnesium, but mainly from supplements, not food,” Viola said. “It’s very safe from food, as kidneys eliminate the excess.”

Over-supplementing can cause diarrhea, nausea and lethargy, according to the expert.

Choosing a magnesium supplement

Magnesium supplements come in different forms for various purposes, which are absorbed in different ways.

One of the most popular forms is magnesium citrate, which is typically taken orally to raise levels in the body and alleviate constipation, according to Healthline.

Magnesium chloride is another good choice for correcting deficiencies, and also alleviates heartburn and constipation.

For those who can’t tolerate other forms, magnesium lactate and magnesium malate may be gentler on the digestive system, Healthline noted.

Magnesium taurate is known to have potential benefits for regulating high blood sugar and high blood pressure, while magnesium L-threonate could potentially help support brain health.

“You can get too much magnesium, but mainly from supplements, not food.”

“The magnesium salts used for a calming effect are glycinate and taurate,” Quattrocchi told Fox News Digital.

Magnesium glycinate has also been shown to improve sleep, reduce mental health issues and treat inflammatory conditions, according to Healthline.

Conservative activist sounds off after being jailed in ‘woke city’ for transgender signs

Conservative activists warned about the threat to free speech in Europe after they were arrested in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday for holding signs opposing transgender medical treatments for children.

Chris Elston, better known as “Billboard Chris,” and Alliance Defending Freedom International senior legal communications officer Lois McLatchie Miller spoke to Fox News Digital after they were released, hours after being harassed by a crowd and taken into police custody.

Elston, well known for wearing billboards decrying transgender medical care for children out in public, stood out in the streets of the Belgian capital alongside McLatchie Miller. Both wore billboards with the messages, “Children are never born in the wrong body” and “Children cannot consent to puberty blockers.”

Elston travels the world to spread his message, which he says mostly receives positive feedback. But in Brussels, it was mostly opposition.

POLICE ARREST ‘BILLBOARD CHRIS,’ CHRISTIAN ACTIVIST IN EU CAPITAL FOR DENOUNCING CHILD TRANSGENDER TREATMENTS

“It was pretty much non-stop abuse and harassment,” Elston told Fox News Digital. “It quickly became apparent that this is probably the most woke city I have been to in my five years of campaigning, and nothing else comes close.”

“We had a man throw a glass bottle at us. It landed behind me, but right in front of a five-year-old girl who was walking with her dad, smashed on the ground. People were telling me I needed to get out of there because Antifa was going to come, and no matter where we walked in the city, we were getting a lot of grief,” he added.

After one man continually harassed McLatchie Miller, the pair called the police for protection. Instead, they were told if they didn’t remove their signs, they would be arrested. They were then detained, strip-searched and had their signs confiscated, before they were released three hours later with no formal charge, Elston said.

“They put us in handcuffs and everything, but they just let us go, and it seems they just wanted to get rid of us instead of dealing with the angry, unruly mob,” he added.

The activists were in Brussels this week to share their message and discuss policy issues with members of the European Parliament.

FREE SPEECH ADVOCATES PRAISE TRUMP ADMIN FOR SPEAKING OUT ON GLOBAL CENSORSHIP

McLatchie Miller, who works for the faith-based legal organization, Alliance Defending Freedom International, said it was surprising to find herself detained, when she is usually fighting for ADF clients whose speech has been silenced by local authorities.

“I don’t think we were quite prepared to expect this level of hostility here in Brussels, but hopefully it exposes some things that need to be exposed about the need to protect freedom of expression in Europe,” she told Fox News Digital.

Vice President JD Vance recently sounded the alarm about free speech being under threat in Europe.

In a speech in Munich in February, he raised the case of a British army veteran who was arrested and charged for silently praying in an abortion buffer zone to warn that Europe appeared to be retreating from some of its fundamental values it shares with the U.S. and adopting “Soviet-era” censorship.

McLatchie Miller said her arrest “really represents the free speech crisis that Europe is facing right now.”

VANCE IS RIGHT ABOUT FREE SPEECH. THAT’S WHAT MAKES EU AND US LEFTISTS SO MAD

“Vance pointed this out in his Munich speech just a few months ago, and many people in Europe laughed at him and said that this wasn’t true,” she continued. “But case after case, time after time, we’re seeing this assault on free speech unfold.”

“As Chris and I were just there sharing a very peaceful message, a very important message, that no child has ever been born in the wrong body, and they do not need drugs and scalpels to fix themselves, they need love and affirmation. It’s an opinion that’s shared by many people across Europe, and yet the authorities came and shut down that conversation in the streets of this capital city, this heart of the European Union.”

“If free speech is not accessible here in Europe’s alleged home of democracy, then it’s not accessible anywhere, and it really does raise an alarm bell,” she said.

Brussels police did not immediately return a request for comment.

Their arrest comes at a time when Elston believes there is a growing movement across the globe of those questioning or criticizing transitioning children.

“We’re making tremendous progress all across the globe,” he said.

He cited European countries like Finland, Denmark, and the United Kingdom which now discourage giving puberty blockers to children experiencing gender dysphoria.

“The truth is spreading,” he added.

Elston said he speaks to people on both sides of the aisle who share his concerns about transitioning children, and he believes it was one major issue that swung voters away from the Democratic Party in the 2024 election.

“This was the number one issue in the U.S. election that caused swing voters to vote for President Donald Trump,” he argued. “It wasn’t the economy, it wasn’t immigration, it was transgender insanity. And even in these Democrat states, a lot of those voters are sick and tired of this.”

Kate Middleton stands firmly with Prince William as trust in Prince Harry shattered

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Kate Middleton reportedly has zero plans to reach out to Prince Harry for peace talks, choosing instead to stand by her husband, Prince William.

An unnamed source recently told Us Weekly that the Prince and Princess of Wales “just don’t understand why Harry doesn’t stay quiet” after his royal exit. But Kinsey Schofield, host of the “To Di For Daily” podcast, told Fox News Digital that the royal couple feel differently, according to her sources.

“Catherine has been nothing but supportive of her husband – and that’s exactly why Prince William is so deeply hurt,” Schofield explained.

MEGHAN MARKLE, KATE MIDDLETON’S BRIDESMAID DRESS DISPUTE WAS ‘BEGINNING OF THE END’: EXPERT

“His pain doesn’t come from personal insults or headlines. It comes from his instinct to protect the woman he loves… But what cuts the deepest is Harry’s treatment of Catherine. She’s always loved him, always treated him like a little brother. That’s the betrayal William won’t forget… But Harry never seems to think about the consequences.”

British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard claimed to Fox News Digital that the mother of three had been “saddened” by the fallout between William and her brother-in-law. Still, she won’t be getting involved.

“Catherine and Harry shared a fun humor and were often seen giggling together at events,” Chard explained. “Sadly and upsettingly, Princess Catherine was dragged into the public negative narrative which was a real smack round the face for the kind sister-in-law who tried hard to be the peacemaker between the brothers.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Kensington Palace for comment.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stepped back as senior royals and moved to California, citing the unbearable intrusions of the British press and a lack of support from the palace.

Since their departure, the couple have aired their grievances in interviews, podcasts as well as Harry’s 2023 memoir “Spare,” which caused further estrangement between the prince and his family.

In his book, Harry laid bare embarrassing details about the House of Windsor and wrote candidly of his sibling rivalry with William, heir to the British throne. Previously in 2021, Meghan claimed to Oprah Winfrey in a televised interview viewed by nearly 50 million people globally that it was Kate who made her cry leading up to her wedding in 2018.

A source told Us Weekly that Kate, 43, was “scarred” by Meghan’s interview.

“The reframing of events upset her, and making up a narrative that Kate is mean was devastating,” the source claimed. “She can’t retaliate, and Meghan knows that.”

Chard told Fox News Digital that while Kate and Meghan, 43, don’t have much in common, the Princess of Wales was supportive of Harry finding love.

“Princess Catherine was happy when Prince Harry met Meghan,” Chard explained. “She was thrilled that Prince Harry seemed genuinely happy… The three musketeers became the ‘Fab Four’… Princess Catherine [silently] cannot understand why Prince Harry still won’t bite his tongue and continues his destructive path.”

Royal experts have told Fox News Digital that William and Harry are not on speaking terms. Sources close to Harry previously told People magazine that King Charles III, their father, won’t respond to Harry’s phone calls or letters.

“As time moved on, the Sussexes aired more and more allegations, grievances and untruths against members of the British royal family,” said Chard. “While battling ill health, Princess Catherine sprung into protection mode. Her goals have been protecting the crown, future-proofing the monarchy, [honoring] the late Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy and protecting her children from Prince Harry’s hurtful commentary.”

Schofield claimed that after Harry mentioned Kate in his book, there was no turning back for William.

“Harry published a word-for-word text exchange between Meghan and Catherine, dragging private family moments into the public square,” said Schofield. “William can take the punches Harry throws at him – the dog bowl, the breaking of Harry’s necklace – trivial… [But] Harry effectively sent the online mob after William and Catherine… [And] Catherine has had a tough two years between cancer and this ongoing drama.”

Thankfully for William and the rest of the royal household, “Catherine is focusing on staying happy and healthy,” said Schofield.

British royals expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that the Prince and Princess of Wales have put on a united front – especially after Harry recently declared in a BBC interview that he wants reconciliation with his family.

“Princess Catherine and Prince Harry’s relationship has dramatically deteriorated over recent years,” Fordwich claimed. “There is a huge sense of betrayal and broader frustration, as well as a massive cultural clash. How Harry has changed under the influence of Meghan Markle has been baffling both to the royal family and beyond.”

“Prince William and Princess Catherine are upholding traditional royal discretion and dedicating themselves to duty, while Harry’s public disclosures, especially in his whingefest ‘Spare,’ and numerous interviews have been deeply damaging, as well as totally unnecessary,” Fordwich shared.

“Catherine, in particular, is deeply wounded by Harry’s media disclosures airing family grievances and betraying any family loyalty while dismissing royal values. Catherine was once the peacemaker between the feuding brothers. She often encouraged William to reconcile.”

“However, after years of futile efforts, she has now thrown her hands up in disgust, stepping back from any role of attempting to mediate a reconciliation since the rift between the brothers kept widening,” Fordwich claimed. “She and William are now totally at one regarding hypocritical Harry. She’s far more focused on her health and family. She’s rather hurt.”

Kate and Harry’s relationship wasn’t always strained, the experts stressed. In “Spare,” Harry described Kate as “a fantastic girl.”

“I’m really looking forward to getting her under my wing,” he’s quoted as saying. “She’ll be taking me under her wing, probably.”

“I loved my new sister-in-law,” he wrote in his book. “I felt she was more sister than in-law, the sister I’d never had and always wanted, and I was pleased that she’d forever be standing by Willy’s side. They made each other visibly happy, and therefore I was happy too.”

He also wrote about their first time meeting, saying she was “carefree, sweet [and] kind.”

“She’d done a gap year in Florence, knew about photography, art,” he recalled. “And clothes. She loved clothes… I liked seeing Kate laugh. Better yet, I liked making her laugh. And I was quite good at it.”

PRINCE HARRY’S BETRAYAL DRIVING PRINCE WILLIAM TO PROTECT KIDS FROM HEIR-AND-SPARE NIGHTMARE: EXPERT

But these days, trust is the big reason why William and Kate – as well as many members of the royal family – won’t reportedly extend an olive branch to the Sussexes.

“No one trusts Harry and Meghan – and for good reason,” Schofield claimed.

“I recently spoke with my friend Hugo Vickers, a close confidant of the royal family, who told me that even the late Queen Elizabeth didn’t feel comfortable being left alone with them. She would ensure a chaperone was always present during their visits – whether it was to prevent secret photos or to avoid being pressured into negotiations that should’ve been discussed with Harry’s father, not her.”

“The queen didn’t trust them,” Schofield claimed. “Why should Catherine? Catherine has every reason to be wary. She believes Harry and Meghan intentionally lied about her – and after everything they’ve leaked, exaggerated or twisted, can you blame her?”

Chard noted that the royal family, especially Kate, have been following the late queen’s mantra – never complain, never explain.

“Prince Harry was brought up under his late grandma’s mantra… Meghan supports Harry, who now constantly complains. Princess Catherine is sad that the Prince Harry of old is no longer, has taken on board that all trust is broken, and the door is shut on Harry. They will not meet for the time being unless at a funeral or possible wedding.”

“Previously, Princess Catherine looked forward to her children getting to know the Sussex children,” said Chard. “However, she is aware her parenting decisions are critical to the success of the crown and will ensure her children have as normal a childhood as possible as the reality of her and her husband’s new roles loom. She certainly doesn’t want Prince Harry to burden Prince William’s future reign.”

These days, William and Kate, along with the other royals, are choosing to prioritize the crown.

“They saw [Harry and Meghan’s] performance for what it was – and they’ve stood their ground ever since,” said Schofield.

Newsom’s tax threat sparks warning from Treasury Secretary Bessent

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has accused California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom of threatening to commit tax evasion after he threatened to stop paying the “over $80 BILLION” in taxes the state pays to the federal government.

Newsom’s threat comes amid President Donald Trump’s vow to impose large-scale fines on the state of California for allowing a biological male to compete in girls’ sports and win multiple state titles.

“A Biological Male competed in California Girls State Finals, WINNING BIG, despite the fact that they were warned by me not to do so,” Trump wrote on Truth Social last week. “As Governor Gavin Newscum fully understands, large scale fines will be imposed!”

In response to Trump’s threat, Newsom made one of his own.

“Californians pay the bills for the federal government,” Newsom said on X. “We pay over $80 BILLION more in taxes than we get back. Maybe it’s time to cut that off, @realDonaldTrump.”

If the California governor were to follow through with his threat, Bessent said in a Sunday post on X that it would constitute tax evasion.

Newsom’s plan would defraud American taxpayers while leaving California residents on the hook for any unpaid federal taxes, the treasury secretary wrote.

CALIFORNIA OVERTAKES JAPAN TO BECOME WORLD’S 4TH LARGEST ECONOMY

“I am certain most California businesses know that failing to pay taxes owed to the Treasury constitutes tax evasion and have no intention of following the dangerous path Governor @GavinNewsom is threatening,” Bessent wrote. “I would warn state officials, including payroll managers, that federal law attaches personal liability to an attempt to evade or defeat tax.”

“Instead of committing criminal tax evasion, Governor Newsom should consider a tax plan for California that follows the Trump Tax Cuts model and reduces the onerous state tax burden to allow families to keep more of their hard-earned money,” he continued, calling Newsom’s plan “extremely reckless.”

Newsom’s office did not immediately respond to FOX Business’ request for comment.

LOS ANGELES SEES CONTINUING DECLINE IN FILM AND TELEVISION PRODUCTION

Trump’s post targeting California’s stance on trans athletes came days after biological male AB Hernandez competed in the state competition, taking first place in the girls’ high jump and triple jump, and second place in the long jump.

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) amended its rules to accommodate trans athletes, allowing four finalist spots instead of three in the events that Hernandez competed in if Hernandez earns a medal. The temporary change granted the female athletes qualification and podium finishes they would have earned had a biological male not competed and placed in those events.

This resulted in Hernandez having to share podium spots with the female athletes who finished one spot behind Hernandez after the finals on Saturday.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced a federal probe into California over potential Title IX violations regarding its policy allowing trans athletes in girls’ sports. The state had already been under a Department of Education investigation over the issue since February.
