Suspected Minnesota shooter had hit list naming public officials: court docs

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Vance Boelter, the suspect charged with killing a Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband and wounding a second lawmaker and his wife, had an arsenal of weapons and a hit list in his vehicle, according to court documents.

Boelter, 57, allegedly posed as a police officer and drove a Ford SUV, registered in his name, equipped with police lights to carry out the shootings of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, early Saturday morning at their Brooklyn Park home in Minneapolis after allegedly shooting State Sen. John Hoffman, also a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, in their nearby Champlin home in a related attack.

Boelter left the fake police vehicle at the crime scene in Brooklyn Park after exchanging gunfire with police and escaping, a criminal complaint issued by the Hennepin County District Court said.

Inside the vehicle, police recovered a disturbing cache of weapons, including at least three AK-47 assault rifles and a 9mm handgun, along with a manifesto that listed the names and addresses of other public officials.

SUSPECTED MINNESOTA LAWMAKER ASSASSIN VANCE BOELTER CAPTURED

About 70 names were found in the manifesto, according to two law enforcement officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. Officials said the list also included the names of abortion rights advocates and information about healthcare facilities.

Former congressman Dean Phillips claimed in a post on X that his name was on the list found in Boelter’s car.

“As someone whose name was on his list, I extend heartfelt gratitude to Minnesota’s law enforcement professionals,” Phillips wrote. “Now, we must take steps to prevent political violence before it’s too late.”

MINN. GOV THANKS LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR BRINGING LAWMAKER’S ALLEGED KILLER TO JUSTICE AFTER TWO-DAY MANHUNT

Boelter was captured Sunday night following a two-day manhunt that officials called the largest in the state’s history.

Authorities did not give a motive as they announced Boelter’s arrest.

The Hennepin County District Court issued a criminal complaint charging Boelter with four felony counts of second-degree murder with intent (not premeditated).

Senator says cities ‘encouraging illegal immigration’ won’t get federal housing funds

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

FIRST ON FOX: A new bill from congressional Republicans would halt housing grants to sanctuary cities like Los Angeles that do not comply with federal law and immigration authorities.

“Cities that encourage illegal immigration shouldn’t be rewarded with federal housing subsidies,” said Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn. “The Trump administration has made it clear that illegal immigration will not be tolerated anywhere in the United States, and cities that defy American sovereignty will face the consequences.”

‘FULLY JUSTIFIED’: GRAHAM PLOWS AHEAD WITH TRUMP BORDER FUNDING DESPITE PAUL’S OBJECTIONS

Hagerty’s bill, which he previously introduced last year with then-Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, would specifically target federal housing grants provided by the community development block grant program.

The decades-old grant program, which is run by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides a flow of grant funding each year to states, cities and counties to “develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment,” according to the agency.

The measure comes amid a broader push by President Donald Trump to crack down on sanctuary cities that includes threats of revoking federal funding to those that do not comply with his administration’s immigration agenda.

Hagerty’s bill, which is also being sponsored by Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., in the House, comes as ongoing unrest and violence continue to rage in Los Angeles, as people take to the streets to protest ICE raids in the area and around the country.

HANDFUL OF HOUSE DEMOCRATS JOIN REPUBLICANS IN SANCTUARY CITY CRACKDOWN

“It’s simple: if you’re going to ignore federal immigration law, don’t expect to get a dime of federal tax dollars,” Norman said.

“Sanctuary cities are putting politics over public safety, and that’s unacceptable,” he continued. This bill makes clear that cities choosing to harbor illegal immigrants at the expense of public safety will no longer receive taxpayer money.”

FEDERAL FUNDS TO LOS ANGELES, SANCTUARY CITIES BLOCKING ICE ON CHOPPING BLOCK IN NEW HOUSE GOP BILL

Their bill outlines that any sanctuary jurisdiction that has a law, local ordinance or policy that impedes or prevents the sharing of information that identifies the immigration status of individuals, or laws that block compliance with requests from the DHS would see the federal grant funding revoked.

The housing grants were already in the White House’s crosshairs. Indeed, Trump’s skinny budget that he unveiled to Congress last month included a provision that would nix federal community development block grants entirely.

The program accounts for over $3 billion in grant funding at the federal level. The administration argued in its budget proposal that the community development block grant program “is better funded and administered at the state and local level.”

In all, the president has proposed roughly $5 billion in cuts to community development programs.

Clinton’s ‘utter contempt’ for troops under fire after mocking Trump’s military parade

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s attempt to mock President Donald Trump‘s military parade honoring the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army backfired on social media as conservatives and other critics lambasted her for allegedly holding “utter contempt” for the U.S. military, while others slammed her for spending the weekend in the Hamptons attending her former longtime aide’s wedding while criticizing Trump.

“This witch was a few votes away from becoming commander in chief. This is what she thinks of our military. Man, @BuzzPatterson was right. Hillary hates the troops,” conservative X commentator Benny Johnson posted in response to Clinton’s post Sunday.

Clinton posted compare and contrast photos of Trump’s military parade that was held on Washington’s Constitution Ave. Saturday evening. Protesters nationwide held “No Kings Day” demonstrations in response to Trump’s parade, and to denounce the Trump administration’s ongoing deportation raids in left-wing cities.

“Compare and contrast scenes from yesterday in America,” Clinton posted to X Sunday. “On the one hand, Trump’s low-energy Dear Leader parade (that cost you $45 million). On the other, millions of people across the country gathering peacefully to say: Here, we have no kings.”

WHITE HOUSE SLAMS ‘UTTER FAILURE’ OF ANTI-TRUMP PROTESTS AS AMERICA CELEBRATES ARMY’S HISTORIC MILESTONE

Clinton’s message was accompanied by photos of protests in Los Angeles and Houston, as well as two shots of the parade showing a military flyover showcasing the Washington Monument, and another picture showing a group of people watching the military parade’s tanks chug down the street.

The administration reported that more than 250,000 people traveled to Washington for the Saturday parade, which fell on the same day as Trump’s 79th birthday and Flag Day. While thousands of protesters in cities nationwide took to the streets to protest Trump in the “No Kings” demonstrations, which included violence spiraling amid the protests in some cities such as Portland, Oregon, and ongoing violence in Los Angeles.

Conservatives and other critics slammed Clinton and her post for allegedly showing her dislike of the U.S. military.

“Hillary Clinton hates the troops, bigtime,” assistant director of Florida’s Voice posted to X

“Utter contempt for the 250th birthday of the @USArmy,” another critic posted in response to Clinton.

“And, we don’t have queens either. We have a duly-elected president…which you’ll never be,” author and retired Air Force Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson posted on X

MORE AMERICANS SUPPORT THAN OPPOSE TRUMP’S ARMY CELEBRATION PARADE: POLL

“If the only thing @realDonaldTrump ever did was stop Hillary from being President he would be the greatest American ever born,” another critic posted.

“Basically what you did in Benghazi shows how much respect you have for our military. You really should sit this one out,” another X user posted

“We already have a “No kings” day, Hillary. It’s called July 4th aka independence day, where we said no to a monarchy. This is the type of product of the public school system,” an account called Jewish MAGA posted.

LIBERAL MEDIA MELTS DOWN OVER TRUMP’S MILITARY PARADE PLAN, CALLING IT ‘AUTHORITARIAN’

Other critics slammed Clinton for restricting replies to her post, while others pointed out that while Trump held a parade honoring the military, Clinton was in the Hamptons celebrating her longtime former aide Huma Abedin’s wedding to Alex Soros, the son of left-wing billionaire donor George Soros.

“On one hand you had shootings and riots .. On another hand, You had happy people celebrating the 250th Army Anniversary … Your Point ? BTW: How was the Democrat Royal Wedding of Alex Soros and Huma Abedin?” one critic posted Sunday.

‘THE VIEW’ CO-HOST SAYS AMERICA’S TROOPS WILL LOOK LIKE NORTH KOREANS MARCHING THROUGH DC FOR PARADE

“How was the Soros wedding? Chilling with the liberal royalty sounds like fun on No Kings Day!” another critic posted

Clinton attended the Abedin–Soros wedding Saturday, which included other Democrat heavyweights, including Bill Clinton, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, former Vice President Kamala Harris — as well as her husband Doug Emhoff — and Pelosi attended the wedding, the New York Times reported. Other celebrities and high-profile attendees included Vogue’s Anna Wintour, socialite Nicky Hilton Rothschild, and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, the outlet reported, citing attendees.

“I’m looking forward to being a witness to their marriage; to the celebration that we all are going to be part of; to seeing so many longtime friends gathered in one place to really enjoy being part of Huma and Alex’s start of their married life,” Hillary Clinton told Vogue of the wedding in an article published Saturday.  “And I think we all could use some fun, so I’m looking forward to all of it.”

Top labor union leaders abandon DNC amid debate over Dem Party’s future

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Two top union leaders have departed the Democratic National Committee (DNC), escalating an internal conflict about the future of the party that was stirred up by former vice chair David Hogg

Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, and Lee Saunders, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, declined offers to stay on as at-large members of the DNC, as first reported by The New York Times

“I appear to be out of step with the leadership you are forging, and I do not want to be the one who keeps questioning why we are not enlarging our tent and actively trying to engage more and more of our communities,” Weingarten, the education leader and longtime voice in Democratic politics, said in a letter to Chair Ken Martin which is now circulating on social media.

The union labor leaders’ departure is the latest blow to Martin, who just last week put his Hogg problem behind him.

‘DISTRACTION’: THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS READY TO LEAVE THEIR DAVID HOGG DRAMA IN THE DUST

Hogg, the 25-year-old progressive firebrand, announced last week he would not seek re-election for vice chair after sparking internal rifts with his $20 million plan to primary challenge older incumbent Democrats he said are “asleep at the wheel” through his outside political action group, Leaders We Deserve.

DNC CHAIR RIPPED DAVID HOGG OVER PARTY INFIGHTING IN LEAKED MEETING AUDIO: ‘REALLY FRUSTRATING’

“There is a huge vacuum of leadership in the Democratic Party and Ken is proving to be a weak, ineffective leader who isn’t ready for any of this,” a former DNC official, who asked for anonymity to speak more freely, told Fox News Digital.

A DNC committee member, who was also granted anonymity, told Fox News Digital it was “not surprising” the union leaders decided to step down from the DNC, “given they both supported another candidate.”

Both Weingarten and Saunders supported Martin’s competitor in the race for DNC chair, Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler. As chair, Martin later removed Weingarten from the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee, which is the group responsible for drafting the Democratic Party’s presidential nominating calendar and election process.

The committee member said Weingarten and Saunders “are both incredible leaders” with the country’s best interests in mind, and they are “confident we will all come together and focus and continue beating Republicans.”

“I have no doubt both of them, and the labor unions, will move forward and work together with the Chairman, and every other Democrat who is, first and foremost, focused on beating Donald Trump and the existential threat that he and Republicans pose to Americans’ lives and livelihoods and our democracy,” they added.

Another source close to the DNC also pointed to Weingarten’s support for Wikler in a statement to Fox News Digital: “Ever since the horse she bet on in the Chairs race lost, she has always been on the other side of the fence as Ken — this is no surprise.”

Weingarten was also among those in the party who supported Hogg’s controversial plan to primary incumbent older Democrats in safe blue districts.

Hogg’s decision to leave the DNC followed a damning Politico report, which included leaked audio from a Zoom meeting of Martin lamenting over Hogg’s fallout at the DNC, claiming it had made it harder for Democrats to do their jobs and for Martin to demonstrate his ability to lead.

“I don’t think you intended this, but you essentially destroyed any chance I have to show the leadership that I need to. So, it’s really frustrating,” Martin said.

Martin affirmed the DNC would stay neutral in Democratic primaries after Hogg’s $20 million primary pledge. The DNC chair gave Hogg the ultimatum to either rescind his vice chair position or forego his political influence through his PAC.

However, that did not stop Hogg from defying advice and wading into additional Democratic primaries by endorsing Virginia state Del. Irene Shin in the special election to replace the late Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va.

Members voted Wednesday to uphold the Credentials Committee’s resolution proposed by longtime Democratic Party activist, Kalyn Free, to host a re-election for two vice chair positions, which were held by Hogg and DNC Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta.

Martin commended Hogg’s decision Wednesday, thanking him for “his years of activism, organizing, and fighting for his generation,” as the Democratic Party seemed prepared to leave their Hogg drama in the dust.

The union leaders’ departure is the latest public infighting to plague the Democratic Party in the aftermath of losing the White House and Congress in 2024.

“Overtime” host Bill Maher called out former ABC reporter Terry Moran for his social media rant against President Donald Trump and Stephen Miller, arguing that he looked to the ex-ABC journalist to be “impartial.”

“This guy’s a reporter, what the f—?” Maher said on the “Overtime” segment of his show, “Real Time Will Bill Maher” on Friday, as his guest, Ian Bremmer, said there were “lots of jobs” in which someone could post what Moran did on social media and added, “journalism is not one of them.”

Moran posted on social media that Trump and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller were “world-class” haters on June 8, and then deleted the post. ABC News first announced they were suspending Moran but then ultimately parted ways with him.

“Lots of jobs you can have and do that, that is the one job I’m looking at you to be impartial, just give me the facts, I don’t need to know this from you, Terry Moran,” Maher said.

EX-ABC REPORTER FIRED OVER ANTI-TRUMP POSTS WARNS ‘WE WILL LOSE OUR DEMOCRACY’ AFTER PADILLA INCIDENT

Maher quoted Moran’s description of Miller, which said, “Miller is a man who is richly endowed with a capacity for hatred, he’s a world-class hater, you can see this just by looking at him, because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment, he eats his hate.”

Shortly after suspending Moran, ABC News announced they were parting with the long-time correspondent.

“We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post – which was a clear violation of ABC News policies – we have made the decision to not renew,” a spokesperson for ABC News confirmed to Fox News Digital on Tuesday. “At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism.”

ABC NEWS INSIDER SAYS THERE WAS ‘NO ALTERNATIVE’ BUT FOR NETWORK TO FIRE TERRY MORAN OVER ANTI-TRUMP POST

Moran immediately moved to Substack after parting ways with ABC News over the post.

He published his first Substack post on Friday, praising the opposition to Trump and those who have spoken out, writing, “We will lose this democracy if we do not use our voices.”

ABC News staffers told Fox News Digital that they were disappointed by Moran’s rant.

“People love Terry here, I want to be clear, nobody thinks Terry is a bad person, but this was a very, very stupid thing to do in a time where all of our credibility is on the line,” one ABC staffer told Fox News Digital, adding the entire journalism industry is fighting to win trust.

“You tweeted something, and you basically hurt all of us. We don’t need this sh-t,” they added. “It sucks. It really sucks.”

American tourist falls 30 feet off cliffside trail in vacation hot spot

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A tourist is lucky to be alive after plunging nearly 30 feet off a cliff and toward an erupting volcano while visiting a popular Hawaiian hot spot last week.

In an attempt to get a better view of the Kīlauea volcanic eruption, the 30-year-old man from Boston wandered from the park’s Byron Ledge Trail, but “got too close to the sheer cliff edge” on Wednesday, according to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Luckily, a tree broke the man’s fall, saving him from plunging “another hundred feet or so to the caldera floor, which could have resulted in his death.”

EXPERIENCED CLIMBER DIES AFTER 3,000-FOOT PLUMMET FROM NORTH AMERICA’S HIGHEST PEAK

Search and rescue teams that were already in the area to manage traffic began searching for the man at approximately 9 p.m., after receiving reports that an individual had plunged 30 feet below the cliff.

The man – who was not carrying a flashlight or headlamp – was pulled to safety in a high-angle rescue by officials rappelling down the cliff and only suffered minor facial injuries, according to the park.

The volcano is considered one of the world’s most active and on the day of the accident, was erupting with lava fountains of more than 1,000 feet, according to the National Park Service

HAWAII’S KILAUEA VOLCANO ERUPTS WITH 1,000-FOOT ‘LAVA FOUNTAINING’

Kīlauea began its latest activity in December 2024, “with eruptions separated by pauses lasting several days or more,” Hawaii’s National Park Service said.

The incident comes after the park previously warned visitors to remain vigilant after a small child nearly plummeted into the active volcano just days after it began erupting.

MAN AIRLIFTED FROM JAPAN’S MOUNT FUJI RESCUED AGAIN AFTER HE RETURNED TO SEARCH FOR HIS PHONE

“A toddler wandered off from his family and in a split second, ran straight toward the 400-foot cliff edge,” the park said in a press release. “His mother, screaming, managed to grab him in the nick of time just a foot or so away from a fatal fall. Disaster was averted, and the shaken family departed.”

In addition to spewing hot lava, the volcano can also emit toxic gasses and “glassy volcanic particulates,” called tephra, making close encounters with the natural phenomenon highly dangerous.

“The hazards that coincide with an eruption are dangerous, and we have safety measures in place including closed areas, barriers, closure signs, and traffic management,” Park Superintendent Rhonda Loh previously said in a statement. “Your safety is our utmost concern, but we rely on everyone to recreate responsibility. National parks showcase nature’s splendor but they are not playgrounds.”

Defense makes last-minute move as jury weighs Karen Read’s fate in officer’s death

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Karen Read’s defense team has filed a motion to amend the verdict slip in her retrial on murder charges as jurors return to the courthouse in Dedham, Massachusetts, for their first full day of deliberations in the death of a Boston police officer named John O’Keefe.

One of her attorneys, David Yannetti, told the court Friday after jurors broke for deliberations that he hoped his proposed amendments would make it less confusing after jurors deadlocked in Read’s first trial last year, paving the way for the second, which began on April 22.

Testimony went on for more than 30 days before closing arguments. Judge Beverly Cannone spent about an hour reading jury instructions before jurors began deliberating around 2:40 p.m. Friday.

EXPERTS WEIGH IN ON KEY MOMENTS THAT COULD DECIDE KAREN READ’S FATE IN MURDER TRIAL

Read, 45, is accused of clipping the 46-year-old with the rear passenger side of her 2021 Lexus LX 570 SUV in a drunken hit-and-run during a blizzard in January 2022.

According to testimony from prosecution experts, he fell backwards and hit his head on the frozen ground, causing a fatal skull fracture on the lawn outside another officer’s home, where friends were drinking at a house party.

The defense denies that a collision occurred between Read’s vehicle and the victim and suggested that a romantic rival at the party could have beat him to death and put his body where it was found.

Los Angeles Dodgers player Enrique Hernandez claimed in a social media post over the weekend that the community was “being violated, profiled, abused and ripped apart” amid an illegal immigration crackdown in the city and in parts of the county.

The two-time World Series champion expressed his feelings about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE’s) raids over the last week that led to hundreds of arrests and sparked riots in parts of Los Angeles. Hernandez made no mention of the violence that took place against law enforcement officers.

“I may not be Born & Raised, but this city adopted me as one of their own,” he wrote on Instagram. “I am saddened and infuriated by what’s happening in our country and our city. Los Angeles and Dodger fans have welcomed me, supported me and shown me nothing but kindness and love.

“This is my second home. And I cannot stand to see our community being violated, profiled, abused and ripped apart. ALL people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and human rights.”

The anti-immigration enforcement protests began on June 7 and on June 8 the protests turned violent. Agitators sprayed walls and vehicles with the words “F— ICE,” autonomous vehicles were set on fire, and law enforcement officers were pelted with rocks and other objects in the Paramount neighborhood. Later in the week, stores in downtown Los Angeles were looted.

Barcelona locals fight back against tourists by using water guns to push them off

As European countries continue to grapple with overtourism, some citizens are taking a stand.

Protesters gathered in Barcelona and on the Spanish island of Mallorca on Sunday to protest against travelers to their country by spraying them with water guns, The Associated Press (AP) reported.

Demonstrators marched with signs saying, “One more tourist, one less resident,” and “Tourist Go Home.” The demonstrators are demanding a reworking of their local economy.

Spaniard Andreu Martínez humorously told the AP that the use of the squirt guns is to annoy the tourists a bit.

“Barcelona has been handed to the tourists. This is a fight to give Barcelona back to its residents,” said Martínez.

He said his rent has risen over 30%, with apartments in his neighborhood continually being rented out for short-term vacations.

“Our lives, as lifelong residents of Barcelona, are coming to an end,” he said. “We are being pushed out systematically.”

Martínez said many traditional stores have been replaced by souvenir shops, bubble tea shops and burger joints to meet the demand of tourists.

In May, the Spanish government ordered Airbnb to remove about 66,000 vacation rentals for violating local rules, AP reported.

Jaime Rodríguez de Santiago, Airbnb’s general director for Spain and Portugal, told AP that Airbnb is not responsible for overtourism.

“I think a lot of our politicians have found an easy scapegoat to blame for the inefficiencies of their policies in terms of housing and tourism over the last 10, 15, 20 years,” said Rodríguez.

Barcelona officials had planned to ban short-term tourist apartment rentals by 2028, FOX Business previously reported.

Short-term rentals in Barcelona have been stagnant for years, remaining at around 10,000 since 2014, according to figures from Barcelona’s City Hall.

Barcelona city data indicates around 850,000 homes exist in Barcelona, making the 10,000 or so short-term rentals a fraction of total housing.

Popular cities across Europe held their own tourism protests, with locals gathering in Venice, Italy, and Lisbon, Portugal.
