President Trump displays campaign hats in Oval Office in meeting before shutdown
President Donald Trump shared photos on Truth Social on Tuesday showing red “Trump 2028” hats strategically displayed on the Resolute Desk during an Oval Office meeting with Democrat leaders Monday in hopes of fending off a government shutdown.
Trump’s post came late Tuesday, hours before Washington grappled with its first shutdown since 2018-19.
“The Trump administration wants a straightforward and clean CR [continuing resolution] to continue funding the government – the exact same proposal that Democrats supported just 6 months ago, 13 times under the Biden Administration,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital.
“But radical Democrats are shutting the government down because they want a nearly $1.5 trillion wish list of demands, including free health care for illegal aliens. The Democrat’s radical agenda was rejected by the American people less than a year ago at the ballot box, now they’re shutting down the government and hold the American people hostage over it.”
JD VANCE SAYS GOVERNMENT LIKELY ‘HEADED INTO A SHUTDOWN’ AFTER TRUMP MEETS WITH DEMS
Vice President JD Vance warned, “I think we’re headed to a shutdown” after Monday’s meeting.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said at the time the sides “have very large differences.”
Late Tuesday, the Senate failed a last-ditch vote on extending funding and barreled toward a shutdown as the clock struck midnight on Oct. 1.
SHUTDOWN EXPLAINED: WHO WORKS, WHO DOESN’T AND HOW MUCH IT COSTS
Trump posted the photos late Tuesday, a few hours before the shutdown was slated to begin.
His campaign has sold “Trump 2028” hats since earlier this year.
Democrat leaders downplayed the stunt.
Schumer said Trump “can avoid a shutdown if he chooses to,” while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., added, “we will not back down” in defending healthcare and spending priorities.”

Oklahoma troopers catch 120 migrants driving 80,000-pound trucks in border sting
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, working with ICE agents, arrested 120 illegal immigrants during an operation at a port of entry near the Texas border.
The plan, dubbed Operation Guardian, was a comprehensive deportation effort launched by Gov. Kevin Stitt in coordination with Oklahoma’s Department of Public Safety.
The sting took place along Interstate 40, where officials found most offenders with unverifiable licenses behind the wheels of 80,000-pound 18-wheelers.
During the operation, troopers encountered more than 500 people and turned 120 over to ICE, according to officials.
‘COMMON SENSE’: RED STATE GOVERNOR MAKES CRUCIAL MOVE TO BOOST TRUMP’S DEPORTATION PUSH
Department of Public Safety Commissioner Tim Tipton said the findings were alarming, highlighting a serious safety risk. Many of the licenses were either expired by nearly a decade or listed under a single name, making identification impossible.
“You don’t have a minor collision with a commercial vehicle,” Tipton said. “An 80,000-pound truck at 70 miles an hour isn’t going to be a minor crash.”
Oklahoma’s Operation Guardian plan states that the state currently houses about 525 undocumented offenders in its prisons, costing $36,000 per day.
The plan alleges that 30% of those crimes are violent offenses against children, 20% violent assaults, 14% homicides or other violent deaths, and 7% sex crimes. It notes that most offenders are from Mexico (72%), followed by Guatemala, Honduras, and Vietnam.
MASSIVE ICE OPERATION NETS GANG MEMBERS, MURDERERS, CHILD PREDATORS: ‘WREAKED HAVOC’
Stitt said the operation is designed to move undocumented offenders directly from state and county custody into federal deportation proceedings, ending what he calls years of federal neglect.
“Former President Biden’s weak border policies allowed our country to become a safe haven for criminal illegal migrants — that ends in Oklahoma with Operation Guardian,” Stitt said. “These dangerous illegal aliens should not be walking our streets, and they soon won’t be. Oklahoma will continue to stand for law and order.”

The plan expands ICE agreements so some state and local officers can detain and transfer offenders. It also allows parole boards to send noncitizen inmates straight to federal custody if deportation orders are already in place.
It will implement a Rapid REPAT program as well, allowing eligible inmates to skip appeals and move directly into deportation.
Tipton emphasized the operation was about more than immigration policy — it was about protecting families on Oklahoma’s roads and in its communities.
“This plan ensures Oklahoma leads the nation in cracking down on illegal aliens who’ve committed crimes against our communities,” Tipton said. “Operation Guardian is a direct response to the threat these criminals pose to our citizens.”
Yelling match breaks out in Senate hearing with former Biden official over ‘two spirit’ safe spaces
A yelling match between Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and a former Biden administration official broke out in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing over the need for “two spirit” safe spaces to combat gun violence.
Hawley challenged Gregory Jackson Jr., who served as deputy director of the Biden White House’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention and, more recently, as the head of Community Justice Action Fund (CJAF), over the organization’s policies on creating safe spaces for “two spirit” individuals.
Hawley was grilling Jackson over a CJAF report published while he led the group, titled “A Policymakers’ Playbook to Reduce Gun Violence Without Policing Communities,” which he said “advocated for defunding the police” and instead investing in “programs that acknowledge the need for safe space initiatives led by lesbian, gay, bisexual, two spirit, trans and gender-nonconforming people.”
“What’s two spirit?” Hawley asked.

In response, Jackson said, “Well, I don’t know exactly.”
Jackson went on to say, “If you look at the report, the focus is on investing in violence intervention, outreach workers, victims’ services.”
“You say that we shouldn’t invest in the police, but we ought to invest in two spirit community programs that acknowledge two spirit individuals. What is that?” Hawley shot back. “I just want to know. I don’t know what that is. I have no idea what that is.”
After Hawley repeated the question, Jackson admitted, “I’m not completely aware of the language. I feel like I’m looking at a two-faced individual because you talk about reducing violence but also speak out against violence reduction programs.”
“Oh no, sir, you’re looking at somebody who’s reading you your own words, and I’d like to hear an answer,” retorted Hawley.
FOLLOWING KIRK’S ASSASSINATION, LAWMAKERS REACT TO LETHAL POLITICAL CLIMATE: ‘VIOLENT WORDS PRECEDE VIOLENT ACTIONS’
“Here’s the answer,” Hawley added. “The answer is you don’t have any solutions. You want to invest in gobbledygook and take away money from police officers who actually keep our community safe, and when you’re called on the record, you deny it. It’s all there in black and white, and your record is there in black and white, and it’s a disgrace.”
Raising his voice, Jackson, who was seriously injured in a Washington, D.C., shooting in 2013, answered, “As somebody who’s been shot and nearly killed, I take offense that you would think that the last 13 years were not focused on reducing violence.”
Hawley shouted back, “I take offense that you do not answer my questions, that you deny your own words and that you are leading this committee astray. And, frankly, sir, your policies are absurd, they’re absurd.”

Students brave ‘surreal’ atmosphere at first Turning Point rally after Kirk’s murder
Nearly three weeks after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA returned to Utah for a stop on its “This is The Turning Point” campus tour. Fox News Digital visited Utah State University for the event and spoke with attendees.
Attendees began lining up as early as 3 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. event. Security was significantly heightened compared to previous events, including officers and personnel stationed at every corner, snipers positioned on multiple rooftops, drone surveillance overhead, K9 units, metal detectors, bag checks, and a strict no re-entry policy once inside the venue.

CHARLIE KIRK BUILT A MOVEMENT. NOW, THESE CONSERVATIVE INFLUENCERS ARE CONTINUING HIS LEGACY
“There is a lot of fear right now due to the amount of violence, but I do think that more of us need to stand up,” said Utah State student, Gavin.
“I think a few weeks ago, you know, as we can see, there wasn’t as much security and just walking up to the venue, drones flying around, everything, it made the atmosphere feel more surreal almost, just looking back at what happened a couple weeks ago,” said Utah native, Jackson.
I was really looking forward to coming and seeing Charlie Kirk, But coming here, I feel like it’s a way to kind of show that my support towards him and what he did for all of us,” said Utah State student Nick.
Utah native Cammie said, “I’m hoping that we can all come out better educated and that we’ll be able to find ways to debate whether we agree or disagree. But honestly, I hope everybody can take home the fact that hatred is not the answer, violence is not answer, and that can just be peacemakers.”
“I think there’s more danger now,” said Jax, a student at Utah State.
Madison, also a student, shared, “It’s a little more heavy, but I’m not just gonna hide. I’m gonna stand back and not, you know. I still gotta put my voice out there. I’m still gonna go out, show my beliefs.”
YOUNG CONSERVATIVES FEAR CAMPUSES UNSAFE AFTER CHARLIE KIRK KILLING, BUT VOW TO PRESS ON
“I want there to be a lot of inspiration that comes from this event to influence people to stand up for what they believe in, stand up for their faith, and stand up for the same mission that Charlie Kirk was for and preached with civil discourse and civil conversation,” Gavin added.
A “suspicious device” was detonated by law enforcement at Utah State University on Tuesday afternoon prior to the first Turning Point USA event in the state since Charlie Kirk was assassinated. A device was located and deemed to be a non-explosive device. Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad detonated the suspicious device. Old Main building is now clear and safe. All scheduled events may resume as normal,” the university statement read.

‘This is ridiculous’: ESPN analyst blasts officials during Monday night NFL game
The Denver Broncos soundly defeated the Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
Longtime NFL analyst Troy Aikman was in the broadcast booth for the Broncos’ 28-3 victory. While the Bengals faced challenges in Denver, Aikman criticized the officiating.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer particularly took issue with the volume of penalty flags thrown during the second half.

Denver took an early lead Monday and later entered the locker room for halftime with a 21-3 lead. After the teams emerged from their respective tunnels, seeing yellow flags falling onto the turf seemingly became a reoccurring theme of the third quarter of the lopsided affair.

Broncos lineman Alex Palczewski was flagged for an illegal block in the third quarter. The call appeared to be the tipping point for Aikman’s frustration.
“I’m not going to keep my mouth shut,” Aikman said in jest to his broadcast partner and play-by-play voice, Joe Buck.
Aikman then argued the penalty calls were negatively impacting the flow of the game.
“That’s a good call. Just not a necessary call … Nothing brings a broadcast to a screeching halt more than these yellow flags.”
Aikman chimed in again after Broncos offensive lineman Luke Wattenberg was flagged as an ineligible man downfield.

World’s tallest bridge opens, cuts 2-hour mountain journey to just 2 minutes
The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge opened to traffic for the first time on Sunday — and now claims to be the world’s tallest and largest span bridge in a mountainous area, according to Chinese state media.
Located in China’s Guizhou Province, the bridge hangs over the Beipan River and crosses through the Huajiang Canyon.
The bridge is reportedly 2,050 feet above the river. It stretches nearly 10,000 feet long, with a main span of about 5,000 feet.
NEW BRIDGE WILL LINK POPULAR ISLAND TO MAINLAND AS CRITICS WARN OF MAFIA, EARTHQUAKES
Guizhou Highway Engineering Group Company’s chief engineer, Zhang Shenglin, said the bridge spans “earth’s crack.”
The bridge, he added, “will showcase China’s engineering capabilities and boost Guizhou’s goal of becoming a world-class tourist destination,” the China Daily reported.
After three years of construction, the newly opened bridge successfully cuts two hours of travel drive time down to two minutes, according to Reuters.
University of Calgary civil engineering professor Mamdouh El-Badry told several outlets a project of this scale would typically take at least five to 10 years.
He said that time frame included everything from “groundbreaking to completion, depending on environmental, political and logistical factors.”

‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ star hospitalized for medical emergency, asks for prayers
Kate Gosselin asked for prayers after revealing that she had been hospitalized due to a medical emergency.
On Monday, the 50-year-old reality star-turned-nurse shared a TikTok photo from a hospital bed in which her arm was seen hooked up to an IV with a pulse oximeter clipped to her fingertip.
“Please pray for me tonight and tomorrow. I will be fine, but I’m scared and would appreciate prayers!” Gosselin wrote with a prayer hands emoji. “Thanks, guys.”
In the caption of her post, the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” alum did not provide details about her health issue but promised her fans that she would share more information later.

“Emergencies don’t care about schedules! Please DON’T worry about me! Please pray instead!” Gosselin wrote. “Please pray for me tonight and tomorrow? Don’t worry, story time to follow when I’m able!”
“Love you guys! I’ll be back as soon as I can!” she added.
Fans quickly flocked to the comments section of Gosselin’s post to express their concern and support for the mother of eight.
“You are a strong woman who can do hard things! Praying to Jesus for your comfort and healing,” one TikTok user wrote.
“Thank you! I had to call upon that strength that I know I have deep down tonight! And I appreciate your prayers!” Gosselin replied.
Gosselin also reassured another fan who wrote,”Omg…I hope all your loved ones are safe.”
“Yes! They are…just me…thankfully!” Gosselin responded.
“Sending love and positive energy! I hope you are okay! You are loved by so many,” another follower wrote, to which Gosselin replied, “Aww omg thank you.”
The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant also liked several supportive comments and replied to other fans to thank them for their well-wishes.
On Tuesday, Gosselin shared an update, posting a TikTok photo in which she was seen intubated while lying in a hospital bed.
“Update: I had surgery this morning and have five different pain meds on board (top 3 most painful surgery),” she wrote on the image. “I am not in a position to go into details but only bc I can’t focus. I did well. Details coming soon.”
“I CANNOT thank you enough for all your prayers!” Gosselin added. “Love you guys!”
In a follow-up post n Tuesday, Gosselin said that she realized she had “scared” some of her fans and explained that she would be hosting a TikTok Live session later from her hospital bed in which she would share the full story behind her hospitalization.
During her TikTok Live, Gosselin, who was filming from her hospital bed, revealed that she had suffered a leg injury while she and her boyfriend were playing fetch with her German shepherds, Nanuq and Meika. Gosselin explained that Meika ran into her leg at full force, causing her to drop to the ground in pain.
“In terms of rating pain…I’ve had kidney stones and this literally rates up there,” she said. “I was screaming and making the craziest noises and I was aware of it and didn’t care.”
The reality star went on to say that she and her boyfriend went to the emergency room where she underwent X-Rays and a CAT scan. Gosselin told her fans that doctors determined that she had a tibial plateau fracture, which is a break in the upper part of the tibia (shinbone) where it meets the knee joint.
She said that she began experiencing nausea and dizziness and was put on oxygen after doctors found that her blood pressure was low. Gosselin explained that she underwent surgery and now has “plates and screws” in her leg.
She said that she might be able to leave the hospital and return home the following day, but it was “unlikely.” Gosselin said that her doctor informed her that her injury was a “life-altering event” and she would not be able to “bear weight for the next three months.”
“That really sucks,” she said. “I hate to think about it.”
Earlier this month, Gosselin opened up about her health as she detailed the lasting effects of her pregnancy with her sextuplets.

Gosselin and her ex-husband Jon Gosselin welcomed sextuplets — Collin, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Leah and Joel — in May 2004. The former couple are also parents to twin daughters, Mady and Cara.
In a TikTok video, Gosselin candidly addressed how her body has been affected by her pregnancy with her six children.
“When I was pregnant with them, my stomach was squished up here, like 1 inch. You can see it on an ultrasound,” Kate said in the video as she pointed to her midriff. “And my bladder was squished way down here, compressed the whole time with baby weight. Compressed, compressed, compressed.”

“And so when I had my c-section, obviously they put a full-length catheter in,” she continued. “Like the long-term, in-dwelling catheter. I think they went to remove it maybe like the next day. And all day I could not pee. And I had this pain that kept growing and growing and I was in horrible pain. I was nauseous, my stomach hurt. It just kept getting worse and worse.”
Gosselin recalled that her doctor finally ordered her to get a foley catheter, a tube that is inserted into the urethra to drain urine from the bladder.
“And it filled one and a half times. Which a foley catheter bag is huge,” Gosselin said. “I’m telling you, that is a humongous amount of pee. And I’m telling you, it filled one and half times.”
“Turns out that my bladder was so compressed that it lost its ability to do what a bladder is supposed to do. It’s a muscle,” she continued. “And it lost its elasticity or whatever.”

Gosselin explained that she used the catheter for a week before returning to the hospital to have it removed.
“So that time I actually did pee, my bladder had a chance to like, you know, chill out and rest, and, but ever since then, my bladder has never been right,” she said. “I can’t exactly explain it, or put my finger on it, but it just is very different after that.”
Chicago mayor fumes as feds swoop in on Venezuelan gang members in his city
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson appeared on CNN Tuesday, asserting President Donald Trump is an “unstable human being” who must be “checked” on his use of the military in U.S. cities.
“This president is an unstable human being, and it’s right for this moment to check him. And we’re calling on Congress to do its job,” Johnson told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
After watching a clip of Trump speaking to senior U.S. military officers at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., on Tuesday, Blitzer asked what Johnson thought of Trump’s speech saying the National Guard would be “going into Chicago very soon.”
CHICAGO MAYOR CALLS TRUMP’S FEDERALIZATION THREATS ‘BENEATH THE HONOR OF OUR NATION,’ PROTESTS PLANNED
Johnson called Trump’s comments “appalling” and argued that both citizens and military personnel should be against the president’s move to send troops to U.S. cities.
“There’s no way that anyone in this country should be okay with armed militarized troops being sent to cities,” he said. “These individuals, these brave women and men who signed up to serve and protect this country, they do not do it with being deployed against American citizens and residents in mind.
“This is not only appalling, but this is, quite frankly, an egregious attempt to undermine the sanctity of our democracy.”
CHICAGO POLICE WILL NOT COLLABORATE WITH NATIONAL GUARD, FEDERAL AGENTS IF TRUMP MOVES ON DEPLOYMENT: MAYOR
On Tuesday, hundreds of federal agents carried out a “targeted immigration enforcement operation” in Chicago against suspected Tren de Aragua gang members.
The FBI confirmed the operation to Fox 32 Chicago, noting that its agents assisted the U.S. Border Patrol in the city’s South Shore neighborhood. The operation — which involved almost 300 agents — targeted six people associated with the Venezuelan gang, according to Fox News senior correspondent Mike Tobin.
Footage of the operation showed agents converging on an apartment building in the area. At one point, a helicopter lowered snipers onto the building’s roof.

Rogan shocked by progressives’ reaction to Charlie Kirk’s public death
Weeks after he heard about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on-air, podcaster Joe Rogan noted that he is still reeling from seeing how many so-called progressives celebrated his death.
“The Charlie Kirk thing f—— opened up my eyes,” Rogan said on Tuesday’s episode of his podcast with guest country rock band The Red Clay Strays. “I never expected so many people would celebrate that man’s murder.”
“That is evil,” Red Clay Strays vocalist Brandon Coleman agreed.
“It’s just bizarre, like, normal people that, I think, think they’re good people, and they think, they genuinely think, that guy was a bad guy,” Rogan said. “And I don’t think they’re right. And I think they were indoctrinated. And I don’t agree with everything that Charlie Kirk said or did.”
MAHER PRAISES CONSERVATIVES LIKE KIRK FOR PROMOTING DIALOGUE, CONDEMNS FAR LEFT FOR CELEBRATING HIS DEATH
“I don’t care if he was a bad guy or not,” Coleman said.
“He’s not a bad guy,” Rogan replied.
Coleman declared, “I don’t want to see anybody die.”
Rogan marveled at how young Kirk was at his death, essentially famous for going around college campuses and having debates with people, “but it infuriated people because they felt like this guy is going against the progress that was being made in society.”
Rogan reasserted that one of the most frightening aspects about the entire incident was the fact that perfectly normal people celebrated the murder of a young man because they did not like what he had to say.
CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION: ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, JOSH DUHAMEL, JILLIAN MICHAELS DENOUNCE POLITICAL VIOLENCE
“I don’t think some of the things he said he should have said,” Rogan said, “but the fact that people were cheering when he died — normal people, housewives, moms, like f—— people working at banks, people working at various industries — celebrating a man getting shot in front of his kids in the front of the whole world. Like what the f— is wrong with us?
“And that’s why, like, when this Charlie Kirk thing happens, there’s a giant blowback,” he added. “And most people recognize like, ‘Hey, as a collective, as a society, this is not right.’ Regardless of whoever that person is, whether that person’s on the left or the right, they just got shot in front of the whole world. It’s not a thing to celebrate ever.”

Rogan criticized what he saw as hypocrisy, saying it was disturbing that people on the left who claim to be progressive, compassionate and inclusive were openly celebrating gun violence and public executions.
