New twist revealed in murder of prominent Las Vegas attorney, wife gunned down at law firm
A former law partner and close friend of Dennis Prince, the prominent Las Vegas attorney who was gunned down alongside his wife at his own law firm, shared new details about the tragic killing with Fox News Digital.
Robert Eglet, who heads the trial team at Eglet Adams in Las Vegas, said he was a close friend of Dennis and his family for over 30 years.
He said he was “stunned” by the news. He said Joe Houston, the attorney accused of committing the heinous crime, had told him earlier in the week that he was terminally ill and dying from cancer.
“Joe told me this not long before the shooting, that he was dying of terminal cancer. Makes me wonder if he felt like he had nothing to lose? I really don’t know though, I can’t make any sense of this all,” Eglet said.

Houston was reportedly representing his son in a custody dispute between his son and Dennis Prince’s wife, Ashley Prince. Ashley Prince was Houston’s ex-daughter-in-law, as first reported by FOX5 Vegas.
Houston allegedly pulled out a gun during a deposition at Prince Law Group on Monday. He allegedly shot and killed Dennis and Ashley Prince before turning the gun on himself.
“I’m just devastated, just stunned, and it’s hard for me to get my head around this,” Eglet told Fox News Digital.
Eglet said Dennis was a father of three and shared a 6-month-old baby with Ashley.

“You know, it’s just so tragic, I can’t even put it into words. He was one of my closest friends for more than 30 years and was my business partner for more than 10 years,” Eglet said.
Houston’s family released a statement to FOX5 Vegas asking the public to wait to draw conclusions until police have a chance to finish their investigation.
“Our family is in a state of profound shock and sadness at yesterday’s events. We ask for prayers and privacy as we try to navigate the coming days,” a spokesperson for the family said. “The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is still conducting their investigation and as that continues, speculation about details of the incident only serves to add trauma to our already grieving and overwhelmed families. We have full faith in Metro’s efforts and will leave all future comment to them as their investigation unfolds.”
Eglet went on to tell Fox News Digital that the tragedy has shaken and devastated many in the law community.
“To know a fellow colleague shot him, and his ex-daughter-in-law, and in front of his own son, I know all parties involved and this was just so out of character for Joe,” Eglet explained.
Eglet said that he and Dennis both grew up in Vegas and that Dennis left a lasting impact on the community.
“We both grew up and worked in Vegas. He was a community leader and one of the finest trial lawyers in Nevada. But even beyond that, he was an amazing father. He loved being a dad and was one of the best,” Eglet said. “He was, quite frankly, the best father I have ever seen.”

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford agreed.
“I’m devastated. Dennis Prince was not only a brilliant attorney, but he was also my former law partner and my friend,” Ford wrote on X. “I can’t believe he’s gone. I’m extremely saddened by his and Ashley’s death, and my heart goes out to their families, especially their children.”
Other law firms took to social media to share their condolences on the loss of the Vegas law pioneer.
“We lost a titan in the legal world today. Dennis Prince was widely considered a top 5 trial attorney in Nevada. One of our very best! A passionate seeker of justice. A warrior advocate for those fighting incredible odds,” Burk Injury Lawyers wrote. “After one of my trials last last year, Dennis pulled me aside. He took the time to congratulate me and also encouraged me to try more cases. On that day, Dennis made me feel important. He was incredible like that. Due to the actions of a coward, children lost their parents. People lost their employer. Clients lost their lawyer. Colleagues lost their friend. This is so tragic, sad, disgusting and unnecessary.”

On Monday evening, the Prince Law Group released a statement about the shooting.
“With profound sadness, Prince Law Group would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us with heartfelt messages of concern and sympathy over the tragic violence that occurred this morning in our offices. We ask that you please respect the privacy of the families involved,” the statement read.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office has not yet formally identified the victims of the shooting.

Las Vegas Police have confirmed the shooting, but offered few specific details.
“At some point during the deposition, the suspect got up and shot the two victims from across the table. The shooter died on scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” LVMPD wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
GOP-led county infuriates Dems with plan to deputize private citizens
The Republican leader of a suburb bordering New York City has Democrats up in arms over a plan to deputize private citizens for emergency situations.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman has continued to irk opponents on the issues of crime and women’s rights as he seeks to wrestle control of the state capital and give his constituents a greater say in local policy.
I don’t think you can depend on Albany or Washington, D.C., because they’re more interested in giving away billions of dollars to migrants who are unvetted and bringing them to our communities than they are in protecting our communities. So, that’s part of the thought process in my mind. … We need a group of citizens who are already trained, who already had experience in police departments and in the military and have them on reserve in the event that there would be a serious emergency.
Lawmakers opposing the plan are calling it a “militia,” drawing comparisons to Nazi “brownshirts” and held a rally outside the executive’s office calling on him to halt the proposal.
“I think it’s completely disgraceful, first of all as a Jewish elected official, to insinuate that I would be associated with anything that represented the Nazi regime, especially stormtroopers,” Blakeman told Fox News Digital. “It is absolutely reprehensible.”

While Democratic critics of the plan are alleging the provisional deputies could be used to quell Black Lives Matter or pro-Palestinian protests, Blakeman said all he’s done is create a database of potential volunteers to assist when county police are overwhelmed.
“Its just left-wing, woke, progressive stuff,” Blakeman said. “They claim now that they like the police, but these are the same people who wanted to defund the police.”
The provisional deputies would only be called in for devastating emergencies, he said, like Superstorm Sandy, which wiped out coastal sections of the county in 2012, a blizzard in Western New York two years ago that froze the city of Buffalo in place for weeks, a power outage that lasted days or an outburst of violent rioting.
Even then, he said, the provisional deputies would not be on patrol but would be stationed to protect infrastructure, including hospitals, government buildings, churches, mosques and synagogues. And they would only be used if there wasn’t enough manpower after activating active-duty officers and deputies.
“I would not activate anybody unless we had already declared all hands on deck, and we found we had deficiencies,” he said. “This would only be in a dire circumstance, No. 1, and, No. 2, to disparage people who served with distinction in our police department, in the NYPD and in the military, I think, is just a disgrace.”
During a news briefing Monday, a reporter asked Blakeman if he thought the state’s National Guard, which came to the rescue of Long Island residents after the destructive Superstorm Sandy amid power and fuel shortages in 2012, was “insufficient.”
“The National Guard is a function of the state government that would be under the purview of the governor,” Blakeman said. “As we’ve seen, obviously, the governor said there’s no crime problem in New York, yet we have National Guard in our subways.”

To qualify for the program, applicants must already hold a pistol license, a steep hurdle in New York, consent to a background check and submit a mental health history.
Provisional deputies would be subject to random drug testing, cannot have any alcohol or drug issues and must be medically cleared as “fit for duty.”
Blakeman, commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey during 9/11, said most of the deputized individuals would be retired members of law enforcement or military veterans.

“This would be a very extreme circumstance, but what I’m doing is creating this database. God forbid it should ever be necessary,” he told Fox News Digital. “Because I don’t want to be in a situation in an emergency where I’m scrambling.”
Local leaders have had the authority to make emergency deputizations for more than a century, he said, but the new process allows candidates to be vetted beforehand and activated immediately.
Critics, however, have likened the provisional roster to a paramilitary organization. County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton likened them to Nazi “Brownshirts” in an interview with the local Patch.
“I’ve had some people tell me it’s actually causing them a lot of anxiety,” she told the outlet. “It reminds them not only of the Wild West but of times in Europe with uncertainty. There was something called the Brownshirts, which was basically having civilians all of a sudden become part of law enforcement without the training.”

Kim Keiserman, a state Senate candidate, described the provisional deputies as a “dangerous armed militia of vigilantes” in a post on X after attending a protest with Democratic lawmakers.
Blakeman is calling on county Democrats to remove DeRiggi-Whitton from her leadership role.
He said the candidates for provisional deputy are all “patriots,” primarily retired members of law enforcement and military veterans. According to his office, applicants include a former county police deputy inspector who commanded the emergency services unit and marine aviation bureau, a decorated NYPD deputy inspector who ran a precinct for a decade and a former U.S. Army Ranger and hostage negotiator.
Blakeman, who already touts his county’s police department as the “most professional in the country,” said he teamed up with Sheriff Anthony LaRocco for the provisional deputy program solely “for the protection of human life and property during an emergency.” No one involved will have any police powers unless the county executive’s office declares an emergency and activates the volunteers.

His office has already sworn in 200 new uniformed county police officers, increased funding for the department and broken ground on a new police training complex as part of his vocal opposition to what he has described as “criminal first” policies coming from the state capital.
McDonald’s $25 ‘deal’ goes viral, California’s minimum wage increase blamed
A viral social media video about a $25 McDonald’s “deal” recently sparked an online debate about California’s minimum-wage increase.
A TikTok user who posts videos under the username @shannon_montipaya shared the video on March 27. She was in the drive-thru of a Southern California McDonald’s location when she saw a sign for a 40-piece Chicken McNugget meal deal, which also included two large fries.
The price of the meal bundle was $25.39 – including sales tax, it would come to roughly $27. In the video, the social media user lamented that the meal didn’t even include a drink.
“OK, so it’s $25.39 for 40-piece nuggets and two large fries,” she said. “You couldn’t even throw in the Sprite?”

While the meal is designed to serve four people, it demonstrates how prices at the fast-food chain have risen over the years. A recent study by FinanceBuzz found that McDonald’s prices have increased by 100% since 2014.
Ten years ago, the average price of a 10-piece McNugget meal was $5.99. Now, the meal usually goes for $10.99.
The video ended up amassing 2 million views, bringing thousands of TikTok users to its comments section – many of whom were nostalgic about past McDonald’s prices.
“Remember when 40 pieces nuggets was $5 and a large drink was $1,” one comment read.
“The managers special used to be 40 nuggets, a gallon of tea, and a LG fry for like 20 dollars SMH,” another said.
“I spent $48 there yesterday…my jaw on the floor,” a third commenter wrote.

Inevitably, some social media users pointed to the recent legislation in California that increased the minimum wage for fast-food workers from $16 to $20.

Other users shared their local McDonald’s prices – and very few came close to being as high as California’s.
“50 nuggets here is 15 [dollars],” one Florida resident said.
“It’s $6.19 in Dallas for a 20 piece and 2 large fries,” a Texan wrote.

Some viewers thought the video was an overreaction and were unfazed by the price of the meal deal.
“12.50/person isn’t that crazy,” a user wrote.
“You getting a good deal and you complaining,” another said.
While the wage increase went into effect on Apr. 1 – four days after the TikTok video was posted – fast-food businesses in the Golden State had been bracing for the wage increase for months.
MOD Pizza recently closed at least five California locations before the minimum-wage increase kicked in on April 1. Several California fast-food establishments, particularly pizza chains, have been laying off employees in recent months, the Wall Street Journal reported last month, including Pizza Hut and Round Table Pizza.
A former MOD Pizza employee in Clovis told FOX 26 Fresno that it “just kind of seemed like the right timing, two weeks before all of the fast-food locations in California got that increase that we closed.”
McDonald’s USA told Fox Business that the FinanceBuzz report is “not an accurate representation of pricing at McDonald’s restaurants.”
“As the [FinanceBuzz] report itself notes, pricing is set by individual franchisees and varies by restaurant,” the statement read. “This is not an accurate representation of historical or current pricing at McDonald’s restaurants, and the 2024 average prices listed are significantly inflated.”

Schneider described Kennedy as a friend who he believes is talking about the things that matter to the American public.
Schneider discussed why health care is one of the top reasons he is supporting Kennedy.
“We spent five times more than they do in Europe for health care. And we have way worse results. We can’t have 60% of the American population, unhealthy, 54% of children. That needs to be the biggest story for you guys in all mass media. The fact that children have chronic illness at over 50%, that’s a 10-12 year old statistic. So we have to get people healthy.”

Democrat roasted online for claiming the moon is a ‘planet’ made largely of gases
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, misinformed a group of high school students in Houston that the moon is a “planet” that is “made up mostly of gases.”
Jackson Lee, who once led the House Science Committee’s space subcommittee, made several false statements that stunned a crowd of teenagers at Booker T. Washington High School during Monday’s solar eclipse.
“You’ve heard the word ‘full moon,’” Jackson Lee told the students who were with her on a sports field before the eclipse. “Sometimes, you need to take the opportunity just to come out and see a full moon is that complete-rounded circle, which is made up mostly of gases. And that’s why the question is: Why or how could we as humans live on the moon? Are the gases such that we could do that?”
The congressional representative continued, saying, “The sun is a mighty powerful heat, but it’s almost impossible to go near the sun. The moon is more manageable.”

Jackson Lee continued making several statements that were questionable. In one statement, she told students the moon not only reflects the sun’s light but also emits “unique light and energy.”

In the video, Jackson Lee tells students not to look at the sun directly, warning them that the eclipse is a serious matter and that looking into the sun directly could mean students not being able to leave on their own but instead being walked out while holding their arm.
In the clip, Jackson Lee is seen struggling to put the eclipse glasses on her face as students move toward the sports field to watch the celestial event.

She also spoke about being able to live and survive on the moon.

On Tuesday, Jackson Lee turned to X to clear up statements she made to students after RNC Research shared a video clip of her misinforming students.

“Also, I care more about these children who would not have experienced the eclipse in this enthusiastic manner,” she added. “And I care more about protecting the rights of women and children than engaging in this kind of senseless dialogue.

This is not the first time Jackson Lee has made questionable statements regarding science, let alone turned the misstep into a political issue.

She then went into a rage and accused the space agency of racism before pointing out her membership on the House science committee.
Jackson Lee also claimed during a floor speech in March 2014 that the U.S. Constitution was 400 years old.
While speaking in opposition to a Republican-backed proposal, she gave a brief history lesson. During the lesson, she thanked the GOP for “giving us an opportunity to have a deliberative constitutional discussion that reinforces the sanctity of this nation and how well it is that we have lasted some 400 years operating under a Constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not.”
Jackson Lee was off by nearly 200 years old, as the Constitution was adopted in 1787.
The congresswoman also has a history of being criticized as one of the “meanest” members of Congress to work for.
In a 2011 Daily Caller report, several former staff members accused Jackson Lee of using demeaning language and name-calling when addressing them.
“You stupid motherf—-r,” one former employee said Jackson Lee “constantly” called him, while another described an occasion her parents were visiting from out-of-town and overheard Jackson Lee call her a “stupid idiot” because of a scheduling change. “Don’t be a moron, you foolish girl,” the former aide alleged Jackson Lee told her.

Others said she often forced them to work long hours, even into the early hours of the morning, and that she demanded to be driven by staff everywhere she went, regardless of how short the distance.

In an interview with Nylon Magazine, Stefani admitted the rumors have made her question her age and appearance.
“I had been going through those times where you’re questioning, ‘Oh my gosh, am I just getting older? Am I cute?'” the musician told the outlet. “In my own relationship, even though I know the truth of what’s happening today, you still create drama in your own mind about your insecurities and what might happen.”

Woman who stole and sold Ashley Biden’s personal diary learns her fate
A Florida woman who stole the diary of President Biden‘s daughter and then sold it to a conservative group was sentenced Tuesday to one month in prison.
Aimee Harris appeared in a Manhattan federal courtroom where she was also ordered to three months of home confinement.
“I do not believe I am above the law,” Harris told a judge after a prosecutor requested a prison sentence following her failure to appear at numerous sentencing dates on the grounds that she was consumed with caring for her two children, ages 8 and 6. “I’m a survivor of long-term domestic abuse and sexual trauma.”
Harris pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in August 2022, admitting that she received $20,000 of the $40,000 that was paid by Project Veritas for personal items belonging to the president’s daughter, Ashley Biden.

Project Veritas is known for conducting hidden-camera stings that have embarrassed news outlets, labor organizations and Democrat politicians.
In court, a tearful Harris apologized for enabling Ashley Biden’s personal writings to be made public. Harris took the journal from a Delray Beach, Florida, home where Biden believed her items were being stored after she briefly lived there in 2020.
Along with the diary, Harris stole a digital storage card, books, clothing, luggage and “everything she could get her hands on” in the hopes she “could make as much money as she could,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Sobelman said.
“She wanted to damage Ms. Biden’s father,” he said.
Judge Laura Taylor Swain called Harris’ actions “despicable and serious,” saying she exploited the president’s daughter for profit and to impact the presidential election.

She further said Harris abused and strained the court system and “made promises to the court with no intention of keeping them.” Harris also missed multiple sentencing dates, prosecutors said.
The judge noted that Harris and a co-defendant, Robert Kurlander, had tried unsuccessfully to sell Ashley Biden’s belongings to then-President Trump‘s 2020 presidential campaign.
Defense attorney Anthony Cecutti requested that Harris not receive prison time. He cited her traumatic life and her efforts to care for her children while recovering from abuse and violence. He said the trial had been punishment enough for Harris and that she hasn’t been able to secure full-time employment.
“She carries the shame and stigma of her actions,” he said.

Harris is expected to report to a Florida federal prison in July.

Appearing on the “CANCELLED with Tana Mongeau” podcast, Jelly Roll spoke about previous interactions with celebrities, explaining why he was spooked by Combs.
“I will tell this story, and I’ll probably get in trouble for it. Not harping on it cause it’s a hot topic. But I did [‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’] the day Diddy did Kimmel,” he revealed.
“This is the first time in my career, ever, where they said, ‘Do you want to meet such-and-such?’ And I said, ‘Yeah,’ and I started walking that way. And as I was getting down the hallway — this is a true story — I said, ‘Nah,’ and went and got back in the car,” the “Son of Sinner” singer revealed.

“I don’t know what it was, and I made a joke at first, I was like, ‘Who don’t wanna meet the guy that got Tupac killed?'” Rumors have long-lingered that Combs was connected to the murder of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, although he has never been formally charged.
“Nobody thought that was funny. So I was like, ‘Ooh that’s a bomb. Maybe I shouldn’t go do this anyway.’ So I was already skeptical. Cause I thought I had a funny one,” he said of his joke.

“When we were walking, I was like, I don’t know. Very seldom [do] things rub me in a way where I was like, ‘I don’t even know if that’s a picture I want,’” he recalled, saying it’s happened to him before.
“I’ve ended up in pictures with people I don’t want to be with,” he shared, without naming specific individuals.
In recent weeks, Diddy has been photographed on his Star Island property in Miami Beach, one of several of his homes that were raided. Last month, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News the raids were connected to a federal human trafficking investigation, although it’s unclear if Diddy is the target of the federal agents’ investigation.

Diddy’s attorney previously issued a statement denouncing the raid.
“Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences. There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated. Mr. Combs was never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities. Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way,” Aaron Dyer said.
“This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits. There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”
World’s oldest man, 111, offers his advice on how to live a long life
How has the world’s oldest man lived such a long life?
For starters, no smoking, little alcohol and a fair amount of good luck have contributed to his lengthy life.
And maybe a weekly batch of fish and chips, too.
John Alfred Tinniswood of England, 111 years and 223 days old as of April 5, 2024, has been named the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records.

He received the new title following the death of Juan Vicente Pérez of Venezuela, who died at 114 years old.
Tinniswood lives in a care home in Southport. The staff who care for him describe him as “a big chatterbox.”
Even at his age, Tinniswood is able to do a lot on his own, including getting out of bed each morning, listening to the radio for his daily dose of news and managing his own finances.
What’s his secret?
Tinniswood told Guinness that his longevity is mostly due to “pure luck.”
“You either live long or you live short, and you can’t do much about it,” Tinniswood told Guinness.
There is no winning diet that Tinniswood follows, although he does enjoy an order of battered fish and chips every Friday.

“I eat what they give me and so does everybody else. I don’t have a special diet,” Tinniswood said.
Although there is no particular diet that Tinniswood follows, he does not smoke and rarely consumes alcohol. He noted the importance of practicing moderation in everything people do.
“If you drink too much, or you eat too much, or you walk too much, if you do too much of anything, you’re going to suffer eventually,” he said.
In Tinniswood’s lifetime, he has seen both world wars. He worked in an administrative role for the Army Pay Corps and also had a hand in tasks such as locating stranded soldiers and organizing food supplies.

After that, he worked in accounts for Shell and BP until his retirement in 1972.
He also spent 44 years married to his wife, Blodwen; they met at a dance in Liverpool.
She passed away in 1986. Today, Tinniswood has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
“Always do the best you can, whether you’re learning something or whether you’re teaching someone.”
Beginning with his milestone 100th birthday, which he celebrated back in 2012, he received very special birthday cards from the late Queen Elizabeth II.

“Always do the best you can, whether you’re learning something or whether you’re teaching someone. Give it all you’ve got. Otherwise, it’s not worth bothering with,” Tinniswood told Guinness.
To date, the oldest documented living man ever was Jiroemon Kimura from Japan, who lived to be 116 years and 54 days old.
The oldest documented living woman, who happens to be the oldest living person overall, is Maria Branyas Morera from Spain, who is currently 117 years old.
