Nightmares unleashed as 55 million Americans brace for round 2 of nature’s fury

Another widespread and life-threatening tornado outbreak is likely across the Southern Plains on Saturday, just hours after twisters ripped through the nation’s heartland, leaving more than a dozen injured and neighborhoods reduced to rubble.

LIVE SEVERE WEATHER STORM MAP TRACKER

Some 55 million people are under threat of severe weather as the atmosphere recharges Saturday, stretching some 1,500 miles from border to border along the Plains, Mississippi Valley and into the Great Lakes, including many of the places still picking up the damage from Friday’s storms.

CATASTROPHIC TORNADO DAMAGE REPORTED IN PLAINS FRIDAY

Tornado Outbreak expected in the Southern Plains with softball-sized hail

A round of severe thunderstorms will kick off from northwestern Texas into western Oklahoma on Saturday morning with large hail and damaging wind the primary threat.

A Tornado Watch – the first of what will likely be several on Saturday – has been issued for parts of Texas and Oklahoma through 1 p.m. CT.

Widespread severe thunderstorms are expected to evolve Saturday afternoon when the atmosphere becomes extremely favorable for multiple tornadoes and massive hail.

Severe weather outlook for Saturday
(FOX Weather)

The greatest threat for a tornado outbreak Saturday stretches from north Texas into Oklahoma and southeastern Kansas, where NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has issued a Level 4 out of 5 severe weather risk.

THE 5-POINT SEVERE THUNDERSTORM RISK CATEGORY SCALE EXPLAINED

Storms have the potential for long-track, intense tornadoes of EF-3 strength or greater, massive softball-sized hail stones and wind gusts over 75 mph.

(FOX Weather)

Later Saturday evening, a line of severe thunderstorms is expected to form and move east across eastern Oklahoma and north Texas. The more intense parts of the storm line, which will last into the overnight hours, could produce embedded tornadoes and damaging wind gusts over 70 mph.

“This is going to be a very dangerous day for so many people, especially if you live in southeastern Kansas, eastern and central Oklahoma, and right into north Texas just across the Red River,” said FOX Weather Meteorologist Kendall Smith.

NIGHTTIME TORNADOES: HOW YOU CAN STAY SAFE FROM NOCTURNAL TWISTERS

Severe weather threat extends north into Great Lakes

Meanwhile, a warm front to the north is likely to extend from Nebraska through Wisconsin, according to the FOX Forecast Center. This front will focus on a separate area of strong to severe storms on Saturday.

WHAT IS A ‘TORNADO EMERGENCY’?

Dangerous Level 3 severe weather risks spread across much of the Central Plains, including Kansas City, Missouri; Des Moines, Iowa; and Topeka, Kansas.

Severe weather outlook for Saturday
(FOX Weather)

Both the Omaha, Nebraska, and Minden, Iowa areas that took direct hits from tornadoes on Friday are under a Level 2 severe weather risk on Saturday.

Once again, tornadoes and massive golf-ball-sized hail will be the greatest threats with these storms. Strong tornadoes of EF-2 strength or greater will be possible across southern Nebraska, eastern Kansas, and far western Missouri, including Kansas City and Topeka.

HOW DOES A TORNADO OUTBREAK HAPPEN?

The severe risk reaches north into the Great Lakes, encompassing swaths of Michigan, Illinois and southern Wisconsin, including Chicago and Milwaukee, which are also under a Level 2 risk on Saturday.

More daunting weather news: Flash flooding likely in severe weather outbreak zone

If tornadoes, hail and wind were not enough, much of the Southern Plains is also at a significant risk of flash flooding Saturday into Saturday night.

As the severe thunderstorms become more widespread on Saturday evening, some will be capable of producing heavy rain at the rate of 2-3 inches per hour.

Thunderstorms may be slow movers or stall, allowing multiple inches of rain to fall on the same areas, leading to significant flooding issues.

WHAT ARE TRAINING THUNDERSTORMS, AND WHY ARE THEY SO DANGEROUS?

NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center has a Level 3 out of 4 flash flood risk stretching from northern Texas through the heart of Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, into southeastern Kansas and southwestern Missouri.

Flash Flood outlook for Saturday
(FOX Weather)

More thunderstorms in the same area are possible on Sunday, and some areas could receive over 5 inches of rain by the end of the weekend, with isolated areas reaching over 8 inches.

No rest for the weary: More severe weather expected Sunday

The severe weather threat is expected to wane a little for Sunday, but still presents a widespread risk of additional storms across the Mississippi Valley. A Level 2 severe weather threat covers over 20 million people from Austin and Dallas in Texas to southeastern Iowa and western Illinois.

Severe weather outlook for Sunday

Once again, tornadoes, large hail and damaging wind gusts are all in play, but the storms are not expected to be as intense as Saturday.

The nation’s heartland should finally be reprieved from severe weather on Monday.

Cross-examination of DA Bragg’s first witness unravels important truths

“Cross-examination is the greatest legal engine ever invented for the discovery of truth.”

Those words by legendary lawyer John Henry Wigmore in 1923 are derived from the Sixth Amendment. A defendant has the right to confront his accusers; to shine light on false statements by witnesses and dark distortions by overzealous prosecutors who hide the truth.  It’s an effective method to test the veracity of evidence.

It was tested on Friday, and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg failed.  But that won’t stop him in his dogged pursuit of former President Donald Trump in a legally perverse case.

TRUMP NY TRIAL DAY 8: AMI CEO DAVID PECKER’S TESTIMONY CONCLUDES, TRUMP REQUESTS LIFT OF GAG ORDER

Defense attorney Emil Bove vigorously cross-examined the prosecution’s first witness, David Pecker, the ex-publisher of the National Enquirer.  Prosecutors sat uncomfortably, as important truths met sunlight.

Under questioning, Pecker confessed that his tabloid routinely suppressed negative stories and promoted positive ones involving candidates for political office because it was financially profitable.  The witness agreed that other, more mainstream news organizations did the exact same thing.  Paying for stories and sometimes killing them was commonplace at the Enquirer, he admitted, especially when celebrities were involved.  It was not unique to Trump.

It may seem tawdry, but it’s not unlawful to quash stories. Nor is it illegal to pay someone for their silence.

This was something that Bragg and his team of prosecutors spent the better part of a week concealing from the jury on direct examination.  The irony —and hypocrisy— is obvious. Bragg accuses Trump of suppressing information to win an election. But the D.A. suppressed vital testimony to win his case against Trump.

TRUMP COMPLIMENTS PROSECUTION’S FIRST WITNESS IN CRIMINAL TRIAL: ‘VERY NICE’

Pecker also revealed on cross-examination that Trump did not want to buy the salacious story peddled by former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal that she once allegedly had an affair with Trump. Then-candidate Trump said that such scandals always come out.

On its own, the National Enquirer eventually doled out $150,000 to McDougal, but Pecker insisted that “cash wasn’t the primary focus of the agreement.” Instead, she was hired to compose advice columns, blogs, and other articles for the tabloid.

Bear in mind that the entire McDougal saga has nothing to do with the criminal charges against Trump. He paid no money to her.  Yet, prosecutors convinced Judge Juan Merchan to allow it under the theory of what’s called “similar bad acts.”  Translation: let’s smear Trump with irrelevant and prejudicial information.  It’s the same dubious tactic that triggered this week’s reversal of Harvey Weinstein’s sex conviction.

TRUMP TRIAL DAY 7: DA BRAGG’S LEGAL STRATEGY IS FILTH BY ASSOCIATION

Over four days on the witness stand, Pecker offered no direct evidence that Trump ever told him to kill stories. But even if he did, where is the crime in that? It may seem tawdry, but it’s not unlawful to quash stories. Nor is it illegal to pay someone for their silence.

Moreover, whatever money that was exchanged did not qualify as a campaign expenditure under relevant election laws, which makes a mockery of Bragg’s claim that Trump tried to influence an election by “unlawful means.”  That term is drawn from a state statute that is a mere misdemeanor and has no application to a federal election.  But assuming for the sake of argument that it does, where is the unlawful act?  There isn’t one.

Prosecutors have been shameless in tossing out incendiary words like “conspiracy” and “fraud.”  But as I argued in an earlier column, Trump is not charged with either. Bragg and his Assistant DAs are intentionally trying to hurl mud to fool the jury by implying otherwise. Predictably, the biased judge, Juan Merchan, is letting them get away with it.

Which brings us to the original 34 charges that Trump falsified business records, all of which are expired misdemeanors.  Pecker, McDougal, and Stormy Daniels have no knowledge of the private bookkeeping.  Yet, they have been at the center of Bragg’s three-ring circus during the first week. Shady dealings by a tabloid do not equal crimes committed.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

It’s a clever subterfuge. Confuse the jury with jargon and create the appearance of illegality that doesn’t actually exist. It’s an unconscionable breach of ethics and a violation of a prosecutor’s principal duty to see that justice is done fairly and impartially. Sadly, too many prosecutors think their job is to gain a conviction, by hook or by crook. Bragg stands as the poster child for amoral ruthlessness.

Years ago, the FBI and prosecutors pressured Pecker. They dangled in front of him a non-prosecution agreement in exchange for his cooperation in testifying about payments to McDougal and Stormy Daniels. Out of fear and intimidation, he signed it.  However, his signature on that document conceding there was a campaign violation was not a legal admission that there really was such a violation. It was simply a means to relieve the undue pressure.

Naturally, Bragg’s prosecutors misrepresented that document in front of the jury. That’s a dirty trick because any admission of wrongdoing by one person —even a faux admission like this— does not dictate the guilt of another person. It’s irrelevant and prejudicial.  In a normal case, no responsible judge would permit it. But Judge Merchan is presiding over a parody of a trial.

Adversarial cross-examination, which has long been the centerpiece of our justice system, has so far proved useful for the defense in the Manhattan D.A.’s absurd case against Trump. Deceptions have been disassembled and distortions exposed.

But the question remains, can the jury wade through the ugly muck of the prosecution’s case and see the light of truth?  At this early stage, it’s impossible to know.

NFL team told to pay for own ‘damn stadium’ after trying to take billions in taxpayer funds

Gov. J.B. Pritzker, D-Ill. and financial experts are expressing skepticism at the possibility of taxpayer money being used to pay for the Chicago Bears’ proposed new stadium.

There has been hesitation towards the NFL franchise’s plans to spend $4.6 billion on building a new enclosed stadium along with an improved lakefront area, half of which would be paid by the state’s taxpayers.

“The stadium itself would cost $3.2 billion to build, with another $1.4 billion in proposed infrastructure improvements,” the Chicago Tribune reported

BIDEN’S FALSE CANNIBAL STORY DESCRIBED AS A SIMPLE ‘MISSTATEMENT,’ ‘OFF ON THE DETAILS’ BY THE MEDIA

The Chicago Bears reportedly will pledge $2.3 billion, which includes funds from the NFL.

“But the Bears’ plan includes an additional $2.3 billion in public financing, along with refinancing outstanding debt for prior publicly financed stadium projects for the Bears and White Sox,” the Tribune reported.

Taxpayers would reportedly pay for the infrastructure improvements as well as around $1 billion in “new borrowing” to pay for the stadium.

However, considering the cost and how much debt the state already is in over similar projects, the governor, state lawmakers and finance experts believe that the money would be better spent on other priorities.

Local outlet “The Lincoln Courier” reported on Pritzker’s skepticism of the plan.

“It’s very important to me with all that the state needs to accomplish that we think about what the priorities are. There are a lot of priorities that the state has, and I’m not sure that is among the highest priorities for taxpayers,” the governor said during a recent press conference.

State Senate President Don Harmon, D, sided with Pritzker, the Courier reported.

“At first glance, more than $2 billion in private funding is better than zero and a more credible opening offer. But there’s an obvious substantial gap remaining, and I echo the governor’s skepticism,” Harmon reportedly said.

State House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D, said he doesn’t expect the proposal to get enough votes among state representatives to pass.

Joe Ferguson, the president of the Civic Federation, a fiscal watchdog group, told the Tribune that the proposal is expensive, especially considering how much debt the state is already in thanks to similar projects.

BIDEN TAKES HEAT OVER GAFFE URGING AMERICANS TO ‘CHOOSE FREEDOM OVER DEMOCRACY:’ ‘GET THIS MAN OUT OF OFFICE!’

“There’s not a lot of information necessary to say one of these (plans) actually is viable, or whether it’s a way to take us to the cleaners when we’re already carrying hundreds of millions of dollars of debt for the last time we did something like this,” Ferguson stated. “I think Gov. Pritzker has spoken to this exactly right, with a real wariness about public funding of sports stadiums. We need to see reliable, thorough revenue projections for this before we can even open the conversation.”

J.C. Bradbury, a sports economist, told The Tribune that the money would be better spent on different projects or not spent by the taxpayers at all.

“The Bears aren’t going to leave one of the most iconic football markets in the country. Tell the Bears to pay for their own damn stadium, and if they don’t like it, to go jump in Lake Michigan,” he said.

Democratic Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson reportedly expressed support for the project.

Johnson said the plan will “result in no new taxes on the residents of Chicago.”

During a recent press conference at the Bears’ current home, Soldier Field, Chicago Bears President Kevin Warren proclaimed that he and the team are still pushing forward for the new stadium.

“We feel that the time is now. I mean, every year that we wait it’s another $150 million to $200 million of increased costs,” he said.

Travis and Jason Kelce shed light on how many NFL players are flat earthers

Travis and Jason Kelce made interesting comments about the beliefs of some players in NFL locker rooms on the latest episode of their “New Heights” podcast earlier this week.

The Kelce brothers had Andrew Santino, one of the stars on “Dave” and the co-host of the “Bad Friends” podcast with Bobby Lee, on their show. Travis Kelce brought up how “conspiracy theories help bring NFL locker rooms together” as he prefaced a question about them to Santino.

The comedian then asked how many NFL players believe in “flat Earth.” The Kansas City Chiefs star and the retired Philadelphia Eagles great both jumped at the chance to answer.

“Dude, honestly, there at least 10 guys, 10 to 15 guys in every locker room I would imagine,” Travis said.

“You would be shocked,” Jason added. “If you took an anonymous poll, like nobody had to disclose their name or anything or anything like that, you’re over 15% of an NFL locker room … maybe over 20.”

COLTS’ CHRIS BALLARD RIPS CRITICAL REPORTS AROUND DRAFT PICK IN EXPLETIVE RANT

Santino appeared to be stunned by the suggestion.

“Dude, everyone gets hit in the head,” Travis said. “It’s unbelievable.”

Santino went on to joke about the “NFL is rigged” theory, which was brought up toward the end of the 2022 season on Barstool Sports’ “Macrodosing” podcast.

The bit took over social media, and the NFL even included a “script read” to start the 2023 season. However, the NFL may need to hire new writers as the Chiefs were Super Bowl champions in dramatic fashion for the second straight season. This time, it was against the San Francisco 49ers.

NFL team’s general manager rips critical reports around draft pick in expletive rant

The Indianapolis Colts selected wide receiver Adonai Mitchell out of Texas in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday night, giving quarterback Anthony Richardson another weapon in the arsenal.

In the wake of the pick, Colts general manager Chris Ballard came out hot when talking to reporters and slammed unnamed sources who had been critical of Mitchell in the days leading up to the vent. The slights may have caused Mitchell to move to the second round.

“I read some of the bulls—t that was said on TV,” Ballard said, via FOX 59. I mean, just the typical f— … our typical league. Unnamed sources, bad interview, that’s such bulls—t. I mean it f—ing is. It’s bulls—t.

“Like, put your name on it. I’m tired (of it). We tear these young men down. These are 21-, 22-year old men, and if people can tell me they’re perfect in their lives, it’s crap. It’s crap. This is a good kid. And for those reports to come out, I said it last year, it’s bulls—t.

With the Longhorns, he had 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. He didn’t get as much hype as the top receivers in the draft, but he is still expected to be just as productive, if not more, once his pro career begins.

Extreme anti-aging treatment loved by celebs linked to viral outbreak

Three women likely contracted HIV after receiving so-called “vampire facials” at an unlicensed spa in New Mexico, according to a new report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The shocking findings would make them the first known cases of the virus being transmitted during a non-sterile cosmetic injection procedure, the CDC says.

A “vampire facial,” according to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, is a procedure where blood is drawn from the arm, placed into a machine which “separates the platelets from the rest of your blood,” then is “re-injected into you (only the part of your blood that contains a high concentration of platelets).”

CLOSED NEW MEXICO SALON WHICH GAVE ‘VAMPIRE FACIALS’ LINKED TO NEW HIV CASES: OFFICIALS

The procedure is also known as “platelet-rich plasma” and is considered to be a more affordable and less invasive option than getting a facelift.

Kim Kardashian is among those to have undergone the treatment. She posted an image of her bloody face after undergoing the process in 2013 but has since come out against the procedure.

The CDC’s investigation states that a woman in her 40s tested positive for HIV while traveling abroad in 2018.

The patient reported no injection drug use, recent blood transfusions, or recent sexual contact with anyone other than her current sexual partner, who received a negative HIV test result after the patient’s diagnosis. However, the patient did report exposure to needles during a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) microneedling procedure in spring 2018 at spa A in New Mexico.

Another person tested positive for the virus during routine tests for life insurance in 2018, while a third did not find out she had HIV until last year, when hospitalized with an “AIDS-defining illness.”

CDC ISSUES HEALTH ADVISORY WARNING OF ‘ADVERSE EFFECTS’ FROM FAKE BOTOX INJECTIONS

“This investigation identified an HIV cluster associated with receipt of cosmetic injection services at an unlicensed facility that did not follow recommended infection control procedures or maintain client records,” the CDC states.

While the CDC report did not name the spa, referring to it as “Spa A,” last year a spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was linked to several new HIV cases and the New Mexico Department of Health reached out to its former clients stating that there was a risk they may have contracted HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C infection.

The spa, VIP Beauty Salon and Spa, closed in September 2018 after a multi-state agency “identified practices that could potentially spread blood-borne infections, such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C to clients.”

In June 2022, the spa’s owner, Maria Ramos De Ruiz, pleaded guilty to five felony counts of practicing medicine without a license, according to KRQE. She was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison.

However, the source of contamination remains unknown, the report states.

“Although the investigative team was not permitted to collect specimens from spa A, evidence from this investigation supports the likely transmission of HIV through poor infection control practices.”

Ring doorbell rival’s security system strikes back with paintballs and tear gas

A company from Slovenia, called PaintCam, is shaking things up in the security world

It has come up with this wild new gadget, the PaintCam Eve.

It’s not just another security camera watching over your house. This thing packs a punch with paintball and tear gas projectiles to really give intruders a surprise they won’t soon forget.

CLICK TO GET KURT’S FREE CYBERGUY NEWSLETTER WITH SECURITY ALERTS, QUICK VIDEO TIPS, TECH REVIEWS AND EASY HOW-TO’S TO MAKE YOU SMARTER

How does the high-tech deterrent work?

The heart of Eve’s capability lies in its sophisticated computer vision technology. It can identify human faces and animals even in low-light conditions, distinguishing between friends and foes.

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?

The system, which comes in 3 models, Eve, Eve +, and Eve Pro, allows homeowners to categorize visitors via an app interface — making decisions about who is welcome and who is not. But the most intriguing feature? When Eve detects an intruder, it issues a stern warning, and if not heeded, it proceeds to launch paintballs or tear gas.

MORE: CREEPY TOOL LETS CRIMINAL HACKERS ACCESS YOUR HOME VIDEO CAMERAS

User control and responsibility

PaintCam does offer users a significant degree of control. The system alerts the homeowner when an unknown person is detected in the company of someone known, asking whether to “take the shot” or not.

This feature places a heavy responsibility on the user, turning home security into a more interactive and potentially morally complex activity. How users will navigate these choices, especially in high-pressure situations, is yet to be seen.

Ethical and legal implications

While the prospect of a security camera that can “shoot” at intruders may sound appealing to some, it raises significant ethical and legal questions. The use of force, even non-lethal, by an autonomous system could lead to unintended consequences.

For instance, what happens if the system mistakenly identifies a neighbor or a child retrieving a lost toy as a threat? The legal ramifications of such scenarios remain unclear, making Eve a subject of debate among security experts and civil rights advocates alike.

Market potential and challenges

The global home security market is set to garner a market size of an estimated $106.3 billion by 2030, indicating a vast potential customer base for innovative products like Eve. However, its market success will depend not only on consumer interest but also on navigating the legal landscape and public perception challenges that such a confrontational device presents.

When will Eve be available?

PaintCam launched Eve with a Kickstarter campaign on April 23, 2024. At the time of publishing, Eve’s super early bird cost is $1,275. The Eve + is priced at $1,490, and the Eve Pro is priced at $1,920. This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Friday, June 7, 2024, 9:50 AM EDT. You can sign up for notifications about the product on PaintCam’s official website and the Kickstarter product page.

PaintCam’s commitment to proactive defense

The company posted this mission statement on its site:

“We offer innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate with your environment, establishing both passive presence and active deterrence. Our unwavering commitment is to make the world a safer place, not by fortifying intimidation strongholds, but by delivering intelligent, adaptable, and elegant security options.”

Kurt’s key takeaways

This innovation invites us to reflect on the nature of home security. Are we moving towards a future where our homes are not just passively protected but actively defended by machines? And at what point does the integration of such technology in our daily lives challenge our notions of privacy and safety? Only time will tell whether systems like Eve will become the new norm or remain a curious footnote in the evolution of home security technologies.

Contents in eerie century old time capsule found at high school revealed

During a demolition project of a former Minnesota high school, construction workers discovered in the rubble a time capsule from 1920.

The capsule, which was buried at Owatonna High School in Owatonna, Minnesota, was found as the construction crew was pulling down the front pillars and doors of the school.

The time capsule was opened during a community event on Monday, with the items found inside including a roster of the teachers and administrators at Owatonna Public Schools in 1920, the high school magnet, the high school newspaper, three local newspapers and financial statements.

JUDGE DISMISSES 2 FELONY CHARGES AGAINST ALLEGED WOULD-BE MINNESOTA COLLEGE SHOOTER

“We were thrilled to discover that a time capsule had been placed in the cornerstone of the high school,” the school district’s superintendent, Jeff Elstad, told Fox Television Stations. “It’s always exciting to learn more about the history of our community and the people who had the foresight to build a great school that would serve so many students for generations.”

“While you never know exactly what might be included, many of the items such as newspapers and local history are typical of what is included in a time capsule … It was especially fun to discover the items that specifically shared information about the schools at that time,” he added.

The Owatonna High School Museum Committee is working with the Steele County Historical Society to dry and preserve the items. A determination will then be made as to which items will be displayed at the school and which will be moved into the historical society’s collections.

“We appreciate the historical significance of the time capsule and are committed to continuing to preserve our history for generations to come,” he said.

Rare $1 bills with the same printing mistake worth up to $150,000

If you’ve got a few dollar bills in your wallet, you might want to inspect the greenbacks before you spend them.

Some U.S. coin and currency collectors are reportedly willing to pay thousands of dollars for rare $1 bills that have a certain printing error made by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

“It’s very rare that the Federal Reserve would mess up an order, and then it reaches circulation,” Chad Hawk, vice president of PMG, a professional paper money grading company headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, told Fox Business.

$2 BILL COULD BE WORTH THOUSANDS, DEPENDING ON AGE AND CONDITION

“You just don’t see that error in U.S. currency.”

Two sets of $1 bills were printed — one in 2014 and another in 2016 — that feature this particular error, sending more than 6 million misprinted $1 bills into circulation before the mistake was found.

“In 2014 and 2016, there were orders sent by the Federal Reserve to facilities in both D.C. and Fort Worth to go ahead [and] print the [same] serial numbers,” Hawk said.

“So all the notes were $1 bills from New York [in] 2013, which, for your normal circulated currency in your wallet, would just be a normal $1 bill.”

$2 BILLS FROM 1890 COULD BE WORTH OVER $4,500: REPORT

The problem occurred, Hawk explained, when dollars were printed with duplicate serial numbers — because every bill in circulation is supposed to have a unique serial number to identify it.

The U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing reportedly didn’t catch the mistake — but currency collectors did.

Now they, along with consumers, are on the hunt for bills in the serial number range — and eventually are hoping to find matching pairs of dollar bills with the same serial numbers, as that’s where the value lies.

RARE DOUBLED DIE ERROR PENNIES SELL FOR BIG BUCKS. HERE’S WHAT THEY ARE, AND HOW TO FIND ONE

“Two notes separately would be worth literally maybe $2,” Hawk said.

In all, there are 6.4 million pairs of $1 bills with matching serial numbers.

“If you notice the serial number ranges listed, it totals approximately 6 million,” Hawk said.

The individual $1 bills could be anywhere, Hawk said.

“For about the last six or seven years, these have been out there,” he added.

RARE GOLD COINS FOUND BURIED IN KENTUCKY CORNFIELD WORTH MILLIONS: ‘IN LINE WITH WINNING THE LOTTERY’

“But in the last two or three years, people started to discover the error. The community, through social media, has been able to connect — and people have been able to pair up their notes in a lot of ways. The last pairing I think I saw sold for about $6,000.”

With billions of dollars in circulation, only nine pairs have been matched so far.

Another factor that affects the value of a pair is how the notes are graded — or the condition they are in, Hawk said.

2004 WISCONSIN STATE QUARTERS COULD BE WORTH UP TO $6K: HERE’S WHY

Bill Bailey, owner of Century Coins in Robinson, Texas, said local dealers have currency graded through companies like PMG or PCGS.

So, bringing a potentially valuable dollar bill to a shop in their own town is a solid next step, he said.

“The better the condition of the note, whether it’s lightly circulated or not circulated at all, is where it brings good money,” Bailey told Fox Business.

“They can grade anywhere from a 15 to a 70, which is really hard to get. So the higher the number on the grading, the better the value in the note.”

Dollar bills that could be worth thousands have three indicators, according to Wealthy Nickel, a personal finance site:

  • The Series date located near the photograph of George Washington should read “Series 2013.”
  • The bill must have a “B” Federal Reserve Seal above the serial number.
  • The serial number must end with a star (*) and fall between B00000001* – B00250000* or B03200001*-B09600000*

The chance that the average American could have one of the dollar bills in his or her wallet, Hawk said, is not super unlikely.

“Considering the [dollar bills] are from 2013, the lifespan, they’re still out there,” Hawk said.

Hawk said that since the value lies in completing a pair, anyone who has a note that’s in the serial number range should start by doing an Internet search.

“The best thing to do is look online, go on social media — and there are actually websites dedicated to this,” he said.
